Machine Made: Rebirth Friday Jan. 8 (Story-line Friday)

— if you're unfamiliar with what we do here, we talk about what's going on with my video game project, we talk about who's delved the deepest into the testing environment, new people who have come aboard to help in one capacity or another, various cool other artists and projects that we have been inspired by and very importantly, who has discovered the bugs, the glitches and the errors and who has found out what they love about games generally speaking.

Today, being a Friday, it will be the first of what I hope will be a continuous stream of daily updates to this blog and our other sites. I'm hoping that the format will allow for a different area of updates to be focused on each day, and what more interesting way to begin than with the story-line.

The story-line of this game has always been generally about our MC losing her memories and trying to rediscover her place in the world. But I felt like I was leaving something out, something that was important to the player understanding exactly WHY this story had started and what was their investment or interest in seeing it continue? I heard from a few friends that the beginning felt a little bit devoid of story elements that really sucked you in and grabbed your attention. That is why I decided to make the scene that I'm about to describe.

So immediately after starting the game — the player will choose the MC's costume and make a save if desired.

At this point, the MC gets to be talked at by this creepy dude… he's sort of like Barubary from BoF2 if anyone has played that game… I figured there couldn't be a better introduction to the Main Character's role in this story than "You are the destined one." And I think it really does add a level of immersion that is interesting!

This boss you will have to fight an impossible battle against right away, however the fight also includes some functionality as a battle tutorial.
