  1. it's interesting but.... shouldn't it be more flexible, as in "changing, depending on how you play the character" ? for example, give certain answers to NPCs or kill certain monsters / leave certain monsters alone or so..?
  2. That's too difficult. Take "Justin" from Grandia 1 as coolest character of his age class "Cloud Strife" as .... wtf.. ? XD Not much talking emo/ psycho.... "Ash"... yes but I mean Ash from Vandal Hearts! XD LOL cool! "Adell" from Disgea 2, yes! Hero! "Harry Mason" from SH1 -BUT- also Henry Townshend from SH4. "Rachel Howards" from Hard Edge Several characters from Evil Zone and MOMO and blah blah...
  3. It' s probably my very favourite PS1 RPG ; ) And it can not be compared with any FF at all. Not only system and design are completly different, even the characters themself. They are so classical/stereotype and yet original. I liked the Hero most, and Meru with her cool hammer, lol... Oh, and it's the only game which even had a kinda cool german dub XD
  4. Ah, thank You red-eyesD.dragon. *lol* yah, please don't think bad of me :P - as I sayd it's more of a frame setting and the real game is, trying to discover a whole bunch of mini plots which all seem to be more or less random but in the end , eventually may lead u to the REAL THING... XD . At most single player RPGs, I always feel "stressed" becaurse everything seems so dramatic and urgent: GO THERE! NOW! HURRY! NO TIME TO WASTE!" I want to make the game more like ... player gets some information and thinks " oRLY? i wanna check that out... maybe now.. or later... " it's kinda an experiment. .. maybe that's why it's subtitled " untold legends " .... i made some random banner XD well it's on my game's website.. =) The game starts in a completly unknown space and the player is playing a very strange high lv character with magic spells of scary damage. however that IS neccessary at thet place... He gets a VERY vague hint of the frame setting, and then the player can chose his actual main character, INgame. The frame setting is about demons, gods and the opposite of gods - which is NOT devil in this case ;D but i don't want to spoil. maybe u wanna know more about the characters of which u can chose. (Warning, they're all quite crazy and unusual XD ) Lavendel An outgoing, cheerful young girl. Lavendel is not too shy to speak her mind and a pretty skilled fighter. She joined the Hunter guild of her hometown when she was only 10. Her mother is also a huntress (same guild) her father is a novel writer and mapper. She loves all Animals and Beasts and wants mankind to live in peace with the enviroment. Psalm Although working as a priest, Psalm is more of a light hearted and easy-going womanizer. He grew up in St.Etoile and thus is very self confident and saying he "loves every girl and woman in her own way". But although he might not look like it, he is a strong and loyal beliver with much faith in his heart. He is a good, funny and charming guy. He wants everyone to have a good life. Isolde A rather shy and silent girl who hasn't been out of her hometown St.Etoile since her birth. In fact, she hasn't seen anything of the world yet. Isolde is gentle and pure hearted, yet scared of most strangers. She is not married yet (since the population of male townsfolk is very low in St.Etoile) - however, as many St.Etoile girls Isolde is kinda chubby and surprisingly well endowed for her young age. She is a summoner and wants to learn more about summoning creatures. Dr. Nebelstein This alchemist gentleman is in his mid -or late 30s. Although he is always smiling, there is something creepy about him. People are often scared of him. He always works alone, often moves from town to town, his past is a mystery... It is sayd, his hands are always cold and that he might be slightly insane. But then again, he seems quite friendly... Lately, he has been experimenting with something called " homunculus " . . . Loreley A silent and mature person. In fact, she is some kind of Ninja / Necromancer mix. She calls herself a stealth Necromancer and nothing much is known about her. Just, that she takes her job very serious. Ironically, her parents have been Necromancers, too and mysteriously vanished. 1 MORE CHAR TO COME ( Work in progress )
  5. umm... my general game, um yes. *shy* the game's subtitled "episode IV" becaurse it's really the 4th version of my original world ^^; (it also exists as trading card game, pen&paper game and chatdice game.) usually i use original art or collaborations with close friend artists for my products however for this game ( at current stats / developing / whatever ) i used some more or less known pics of other series, too. it's becaurse i haven't yet found pics that match my idea of the new characters so well. so the ones i have chosen match really best. i wish i could draw all characters as i imagine them myself but i don't really feel like i can. ( i bet some of you know that feeling ) - well at least some of the characters are drawn by me, and the sprites, well i used BIG FAT RO sprites ;D (and i'm proud of it, there! ) after all, there was more work behind that than it seems. i had to resize all of them to 77% of original size, which was a lot of pixel work and spriting. some of them are completly edited, some just slightly. also they have only the 4x4 movement frames. ( isn't there a way to.... oh well.) the main plot.... is yet secret. and in fact there is just a "frame setting" - the interesting part of my RPG is ( like it or not ) - it does NOT force you into the storyline. it gives you a few hints there and where, you can try to follow them or not, but in general it's like freeplay, offering many small sidequests.. the 2nd interesting thing is, you can chose from a set of characters, which one's story you want to play. they all live in the same world but depending on which char you pick, the story and sidequests are completly different ^^; all they have in common are some general quests and - well maybe the last boss...? so, in fact you could think each character travels alone... but that'd be a little sad. so i added abilitys to make friends and allies in the world. those can join your party or be summoned to support you in battle. whew, that's all for now. maybe you want some screens and concept art. battle system: classic, turn based. ( oh no more upload space for the characters.. oh well i'll try uploading them somewhere else later... )

Hey, thanks for your useful comment Arkbennett. Your suggestion with the tutorials and mini games is really interesting. I think it's true! First, I started creating a Ragnarok Online parody - where i learned much about the basic functions of the RPGmaker. It was just, playing around and testing *lol* . I should make more like that.. BUT, on the other hand, the demo version is only valid for 30 days. What do I do after that time? ( I currently can't buy things online..) x.x
  7. I also made summons teehee ^^ pretty similar too.. About the problem u have, I'd say ( just an idea, not tested! ) something like... create new common event if HP 1 or lower replace player (character X ) connect this event to the creature u want... ...or so.. maybe the common event forces the old character back ingame. however i sadly also had some errors in my theorys with common events XD . . .

    general system edits

hello everyone! gee, i'm new to RPGmaker - but i found out quite alot by myself in the 9 days i'm using it! (i'm almost a little proud! ^^ ) since, well last time i used (or tried to use ) RPGmaker, it was about 3 years ago and after a while i gave up v_v but this time i seem to understand more of that tool's logic \ however i'm still a noob of course. anyway, here's what i did NOT find out on my own. here we go - my RPG is based on an old original RPG system i created about 6 years ago. it's much fun, but will it work on RPGmaker? although i thought really hard about that problem, i did not find the solution. DEFENCE system there is a base defence parameter, which is different from DEF and AGI. it's called SK and is a ... well protection number... best described in an example. monsters attack (hit rate) in a certain value, for example fom 1 to 10 the number is random at each attack. if the number is higher than the current SK parameter, it hits. if it's lower, it misses. same goes for player vs monster. ATTACK system in higher level, it is not only possible to make 1 basic strike, but up to 5 basic strikes in a row (combo) they all have a different random (hit rate) value. ( so, sime might hit some might miss ) DAMAGE system i don't understand RPGmakers damage system... is it unpredictable? my idea of a damage system was, you have a value of POWER and POWERup by weapons , potions etc. this value is -basically- the exact damage number. can be reduced by defence though.. RPGmaker seems to work very different from that. also, the MANA ( Int? ) value, should be the base damage for magic spells, altered by the different kind of spells that exist. ( like dmgx3 or +15% or so ) MAGIC system the magic system itself works without SP. it's more a fixed rule, 1 spell of choice per battle - only the true mage class can cast magic every 2nd round. and last but not least SHARE POINTS system or is that already noted somewhere in the forum and i didn't see it? x.x it's about sharing points on skills and stats manually after LV up. on skills, to raise efficiency and to stats to.. well that's clear. =) i dun think those things are actually possible for RPGmaker so i started using alternative ideas/system.. but if it IS possible after all, i am really surprised.
