  1. You mean the game? I'm not so sure. I've looked through a list of sprites and couldn't find it. Also, the sprites for monsters in Ragnarok are from an isometric view. These ones aren't diagonal, they are facing straight forward.
  2. Bump again. I've decided to provide a demo in case someone can help me. http://www.mediafire.com/?apkzz2ihdacnsvz
  3. I'm not sure exactly where to put this topic, so feel free to move it in the wrong place. This was the only place I could find that seemed to make any sense... Anyway, I found an RMXP Character Set that I had saved to my computer, but I can't find who made it anywhere. I would like to use it in my project, so I want to give credit. As such, I was wondering if anyone could identify who made it. Here is the set:
  4. Ugghh... If anyone knows any RGSS2, feel free to send me a message... I'm having a problem that I can't find any help with.

  5. Hi guys. This really feels like necroposting... and, it kind of is, but its still not very high in the topic list and it would do more harm than good to make a new topic. I still really need help with this. The script doesn't do anything when I press the keys...
  6. Other than bring up the menu, no. Is it possible it wouldn't work if other keys are already bound to a script? Alt is supposed to do something with a script I'm using, but only under certain conditions that will not be used in my project, so I wouldn't think it would be a problem. EDIT: Nevermind, it doesn't look like alt is supposed to do anything with my other scripts. So that must not have anything to do with it.
  7. Well, that's odd. When I do that and go in-game, pressing alt does nothing. Here's the full script (without 'X' replaced) class Game_Ally < Game_Character Moving_Switch_Button = Input::X alias __initialize_old__ initialize unless $@ def initialize(*args,&block) __initialize_old__(*args,&block) @moving_allowed = true end alias __update_old__ update unless $@ def update(*args,&block) __update_old__(*args,&block) @moving_allowed = !@moving_allowed if Input.trigger?(Moving_Switch_Button) end alias __move_toward__ move_toward unless $@ def move_toward(*args, &block) return unless @moving_allowed __move_toward__(*args, &block) end end
  8. needs help with a really simple scripting issue. Feels so dummmmbbbb....

  9. I've solved most of my problem, but I have one thing left to do: Moving_Switch_Button = Input::X What do I replace "Input::X" with to make it so that upon pressing, say, alt, it will work?
  10. Alright, I'm using Vampyr's ABS, and I'm trying to make one slight tweak to it. In it, your party member's follow you (unless there's an enemy, which they then attack). I'm trying to make it so that, yes, they follow you, but upon pressing a specific button, they stop following you. Then, if you press said button again, they start to follow you once more. I THINK this is the script that talks about their movement. If not, it might be... ...this one. Thanks in advance.
  11. Vampyr's site has information and instructions on how to set up this program... but its a bit confusing. How exactly do I do that last part? I am running "mysql.exe" and I cannot figure out what to do to "import" database.sql. That is, I can't figure out what exactly they mean by import. I've used command prompt before, I just don't know exactly what they mean by "import". If I can connect to this database, perhaps I could get this working. EDIT: Worse yet, it seems that the IP is saved in a script, as suspected. Is there a way I can make it so that the player can, say, type in an IP to join, rather than auto-joining an IP saved into the game?
  12. Okay, that sounds like a good solution for the database issue. The only problem is that I have to find a way to make a database. I really don't know where to start with such a script. I don't understand how I could make a script define the difference between "clients" and "host". I'll see what I can figure out, unless one already exists, which I doubt. @kaboth: I don't know about with another engine, but using Vampyr's MMO engine, it should be fine, as its already coded to avoid the issue.
  13. I've been looking into using Vampyr's Telam Ludus MMO engine for it. The biggest problem I'm having is finding a way to (A)Allow the user to connect to an IP of their choosing, rather than having to have a specific IP scripted into the game, and (B)Get rid of the requirement of a "database" and registration for the engine. The database and registration would only get in the way for this kind of game. I mean, would you want to register EVERY TIME you played on a different server? I wouldn't. So that's why I need to figure that out. The only problem is, Telam Ludus comes with its own server.exe thing that automatically REQUIRES you to have a database set up, and I don't want to have to set up a database for every server. I'd also like it to progress as if the player's are together and not each in their own individual story. MMO's generally have each player talk to NPC's and progress through the story at their own rate, but I'd really like a way for the game to make it so player's MUST progress together to continue. I'm not sure how feasible this is, but I'd like to get the first problem solved first.
  14. So I'm looking to make an action rpg using Vampyr's ABS for four-player online co-op action. Basically, I want it not to be an MMO, but a game where one player hosts, three others join, and they all play through the game in co-op. Unfortunately, I can't think of a place to start. I would give more information, but, that's really all I can think of at the moment. Where should I start?

    Force Update

I'm putting this here because its not necessarily a request for a script. Rather, I'm looking for help on a way to do this, no matter what the method is. I'm making a game that I'd like to have auto-update. Let me just jump into my explanation... I want it so that whenever you start up the game's .exe, it checks what version you have. I think the best method to do this would be by making it so that whenever you launch the .exe, it runs a different program (an auto-update program I have on my computer) and you cannot play the game until it is updated. Another option could be for it to check what version you have somehow, and if you don't have the most reason version, it tells you to download the update or to run the auto-updater. The reason I need this is that I intend for my game to have different "events" every once in a while, and I don't want people to sit there and cheat to get items and such after the event ends. Then once they have these items, they could update, allowing them to keep old event rewards after the event is over. If they are forced to update to play, they cannot cheat like this, and as such, playing during the events actually has a purpose. I could use any help you can provide. Thanks in advance.
  16. cannot find his code thing so he can re-register RPG Maker XP.

  17. I really would prefer to avoid external programs. Besides, I don't have flash.
  18. Whoops, sorry about that. Its XP.
  19. Alright, I can't figure out how to do this, so I thought I'd just ask it here. I'm working on a game that will have "highway" portions, where your character, riding a motorbike, is constantly moving forward. Left and right will "change lanes" (as in, move to the cell to that direction), but you will still be constantly moving forward, without stopping and changing directions. Its hard to explain, so I'll just show a picture example. As you can see, the character is constantly moving forward. In the second frame, he continues to move forward when he shifts to the right. Basically, I'm hoping for a way to make this happen on activation with an event or something like that. Thanks in advance for the help.
  20. can never finish a game because he always starts new ones.

  21. Since I can't draw but love to write, I write stories all the time. But there are problems when friends want to see what my characters look like, rather than me just describing them. Which is why I need some help. Obviously most people who draw around here probably draw in an anime/manga sort of style, rather than making super realistic drawings. Thats what I'm looking for. Here's what I want (a lot of these are just added perks, not necessary to help, obviously): -Able to draw anime/manga style drawings (Pretty much necessary) (Faces are what I need most, full body may just be asked for, though) -Able to do digital coloring, shading, effects, etc. (Perk) -Able to follow descriptions accurately (I'll be VERY thorough, give references, etc.) -Willing to do at least one or a few drawings If you can stick with me for a while, I would also like someone who is willing to draw many drawings in the future. This is definitely not necessary, just an added perk. Basically, I really need help. My friends want to see my characters and whatnot. Thanks in advance.
  22. So yeah. I've been writing a story. Possible that I'll make a game of it. Its a fantasy and stuff. I posted it on other forums, but people around there are too lazy too read. So here it is: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Character Page EDIT: Whoops, wrong board. Could someone please move this? Thanks
  23. Rep+ That was very helpful. Just wondering, is it possible to make it so that when they're standing still they just jump straight up, but when they're moving they jump forward? I don't absolutely need this, I'm just wondering because it would be useful.
  24. I'm using this for my current project. You play as the villain, but you start with nothing but a small building with one or two minions. So, your quest is to get more minions and build the ultimate empire under your command. In the end, you defeat the hero and conquer the kingdom.
  25. I could've sworn I saw a jump script that lets you press a key to jump for XP, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Can anyone give me a link? EDIT: While I'm at it, does anyone know a script that allows you to switch the order of your part with just the press of a button? You know, like, if you were to press ctrl or something, your first and second party members would switch.
