AGain, thanks for the feedback. I think that making the chartacters move faster isn't a bad idea at all - If I knew how to do so! Could anybody help me out with that, please? :sweatdrop: Making characters move and talk at the same time doesn't seem like a problem though, I can simpily use side-triggers for that. As for the music and the factsets, I'll try to tinker with it some more.

Thanks for the review and the advice, I'm sure it will be really helpful. I just downloaded Dubealex's AMS, and I found that it contains some things I could use - Enough to vastly improve my cutscene! Unfortunately, something seems to be wrong... For some reason, none of the commands seem to work! They work fine in the AMS, but in my own game they don't. For example, when I tried to place a face graphics in a message box, it didn't appear. Instead, my character just said the \f[picture] line without anything appearing. I even tried to copy the event and the picture directly, thus re-creating the entire example in my own game, and still it didn't work! What am I doing wrong? Are there some settings I need to turn on to make them work, or are there any scripts which I have to copy? EDIT: Nevermind, found out that I had to copy one of the scripts to my own game. It's all working now! :biggrin_002:

I've abandoned my previous failed topic, to bring you a new, albeit temporary one. I am still far from completing even the first part of my game, though I would like to show you this cutscene I've made. The environments and the dialogue are currently still unfinished and up for suggestions, though I plan to keep the current sprites in-game (Except for Lihonessa's sprite, which I may change in its entirely once I've practised some more). I hope that I'm not breaking any rules by creating a second topic, but I made a mistake with creating my first one, and I could really use some advice from our more experienced members. If I'm doing anything wrong, please let me know so I can remember this in future occasions. Anywho, if you'd like to see the cutscene, you can download the game client here. You won't be able to leave Azure Village, though you will be able to walk around the village once the cutscene is over and interact with some of the people and objects there. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please notify me in this topic, or feel free to send me a PM! http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/files/file/283-legend-of-chaos-cutscene-01/

The first "real" cutscene in my current RMXP project, named Legend of Chaos. This is still an unfinished version, merely uploaded to show my current skills, in order to acquire some suggestions or feedback on my current progress. This cutscene plays in Azure Village, where you get a brief look into Lihonessa's past. -

Well, although I can understand why you made that post... But there's really not much bad about your life, if you compare it to others. I mean, sure, being in a downer because you can't think of anything for your homework sucks, but there's no point in dwelling on it. Instead, try to do something fun; It may just give you the inspiration you need. Or perhaps you can find something on the internet that can help you out. And if you can't sing, well, that's just a natural flaw that most people have, and you should accept it. As for being bad at the rest, why not practise to get better? Nobody is naturally bad at playing an instrument or bad handwriting - People who are good at it have just practised right and much to perfect it. Do your friends laugh at you because of it? Screw them, or use it as encouragement to push yourself harder. Or find some better friends who are actually willing to help you out. I don't want to sound rough, but really, your life doesn't sound hard at all. I for one have gone through the same problems, with my entire family suffering from permanent diseases: My father has (a likely inheritable form of) Parkinson's, which you'll find is really a much harsher disease then just shivering if you read up about it. My brother has a permanent intestine disease, which has him stuck on medicine for the rest of his life. It will likely worsen as well, which means that he'll either need more or better medicine in the future, likely soon already. As for me, I suffer from chronic reflux. It's a complicated disease, but to be brief I'll name which things I can no longer do for the rest of my life: -Eat any fried, salty or other fatty stuff (Practically everything but meager food and dry bread) -Drink alcohol or fizzy drinks (Which only leaves water, milk and fruit juice) -Use caffeine -Sleep for a night straight -Stay up late -Spend 24 hours without stomach pains or cramps -Live without permanent nausea -Do sports -Watch scary movies -Eat breakfast without having to fight throwing up Take me as an example to do things which you actually can do, if you'd like. But I will say, and I'm sorry if this hurts, that I hate people who whine while they go through everyday trouble which everybody has. Unless you have a permanent illness as well of course, then I'd cut you some slack.

Well, the emulator did work, but it was very glitchy, buggy and slow - Which is what I ment when I called it unreliable. Also, the rom I used turned out to contain a virus... :sweatdrop:

I simpily used Google to find for a place where I could learn more about RMXP, and where I could submit my demo's and trials for people to rate. Haven't truly reached that points at the moment, but I'm getting there... Slowly but steadily.

My guess is that in the restaurant's case, there is rarely any specific proof that the restaurant caused it. It's quite easy to get something weird in your food which makes you go ill or even die, especially in crowded places such as a restaurant. For instance, if you got sick from eating at a restaurant, you wouldn't know which specific thing made you sick - Did the cook do something wrong? Did somebody ill or infected come near your food? Or did they simpily use an ingredient which you happened to be allergic against? Not to mention that food takes some time to digest, which means that the bacteria need some time to get into your bloodstream, which in turn makes it even harder to find where it came from. In the car company's case however, it can be clearly seen what caused it. Even in completely wrecked cars, it's often not very hard for most experts to see what caused the car to crash. In other words, there actually is specific proof that the car company caused it. Regardless though, considering the nature of the story, I'm guessing that this thing happened in America. I don't want to sound discriminatory, but practically everybody sues everyone and everything in there, so I would not be surprised about this.

You do know that this thread had been dead for over a month, right? But hey, if we're continuing now anyway... :sweatdrop: I for one believe that it is okay to obtain roms and emulators, but only for the old consoles such as the classic NES, SNES, SEGA, GBA, etc. I don't think that either of these are sold a lot anymore anyway, if some places even still sell these things. To be honest though, I did once try to get an emulator for the Xbox 360, but I ended up not using it. It was too unreliable, you had to go through a lot of trouble to get it to work, and there are barely any roms for it around the internet. I suppose that this is likely the same case with most (or perhaps all) modern consoles as well, so there actually won't even be much point in getting an emulator for these.

You're a postman, or you're a mailbox. Am I right? :biggrin_002: Well now, it's my turn... I turn polar bears white And I will make you cry. I make guys have to pee And girls comb their hair. I make celebrities look stupid And normal people look like celebrities. I turn pancakes brown And make your champagne bubble. If you squeeze me, I'll pop. If you look at me, you'll pop. What am I?

I think he probably said something along the lines of "You will let me go free". ;)

Alright, I checked the in-game controls, and it turned out that the X key was suddenly no longer bound to the B button. I changed it, and now it seems to work perfectly again. Thanks for the help! PS: Kiriashi, thanks for noting the difference between keys and buttons, I didn't realise that there was a difference between them. I'll keep it in mind from now on! :sweatdrop:

This is probably a relatively simple problem, though it's still one I just can't seem to figure out. I hope somebody can help me with this issue. Basically, the problem is that all of a sudden, the X button no longer opens the menu in my game. I didn't change any commands (I don't even know where to do so), and I didn't mess around with some files, either. The last thing I did was import some new graphics for one of my characters. I saved the changes, and closed RMXP. Now a few days later, I decided to work for a bit on my game again, only to suddenly discover this problem. Has anybody ran into a similar problem, and knows how to solve this?

Welcome, fellow newbie. Enjoy your stay, and I hope to see you around on the forums!

Alright, I used the downloads manager to get my Demo on the forums, and I replaced the link in my original post. Thanks for the adivice! Well, right now most of the game is still a work in progress, including the parts you've played through in the Beta. This is mainly just an intro of the storyline of Planet Mireion, which will be your first stop in Legend of Chaos. As for the cutscenes, I did include a few in the Demo... Unless you don't consider them as such? I do still have to make the intro cutscene though, because I first wanted to get some experience with making cutscenes before I began with it. Anywho, this really is just a rough start of what I'm currently working on. I may release a larger, better demo of the game later once I've gotten a bit further! EDIT: I only now found out that there's a specific lay-out which these threads must have, which I can't completely fill in yet with my current progress. As such, I will no longer use this topic, and instead create a new topic once my game is larger.

A short demo for my current project, known as Legend of Chaos. While it currently lacks the starting cutscene, here is basically what happens before the start of the game: Atticus and his sister Moira leave for the Northern Mountains to gather Sunbloom for their father, the town's local alchemist. While they are gathering thge Sunbloom, they are suddenly greeted by a raging storm, and are forced to hide beneath a large tree for shelter. After a while the storm clears, and Atticus suddenly finds a mysterious and ancient-looking relic near the place where they gathered the Sunbloom. Thinking that the relic would be worth a lot of money, the two decide to take it with them back to town. Yet as soon as Atticus touches it a portal opens right behind him, and sucks him in. He later wakes up in an unknown place, and decides to explore to try and find a way back to his town... This demo takes you through the approximately first four levels of the game, and ends after beating the first boss. While a lot of this is still a work in progress, I may release another, larger demo version later on. -
My demo's been here for three days now, and nobody's tried it... You sure you guys don't want to? It's fun, I promise!

The answer is the answer to that question. Am I right? :B): Anywho, here is my riddle. It might be easy, but here goes: It cannot be seen, cannot be felt. Cannot be heard, cannot be smelled. It lies behind stars, and under hills, And empty holes it fills. It comes first and follows after, It ends life, and kills laughter. What is "it"?

Well, if a zombie apocalypse broke out, the first thing I would do was trying to find some weapons. I'd want to gather at least one big gun (Like an assault rifle or shotgun), one small gun (Like a pistol), and a melee weapon (sharp weapons preferred, like knives or swords). The second thing I would do was round up everybody I could, though only after making sure that none of them are bitten. Once I've got a few weapons, a supply of ammo, and a group of people to travel with, the following thing I would do is go to a medieval museum and steal a suit of armor. While it would look silly to walk around in a suit of armor during a zombie apocalypse, it should be impenetrable for zombie bites and the like, meaning that I'd only have to guard my face and neck. The same museum could also be used as a hold-out, or at least part of the museum if it's too big. Of course, we're also going to need supplies. For this, I'd split the group in two, with one half guarding the museum and one half gathering supplies from the surrounding area. Everybody would have to stay together at all times, and watch eachother's back as well as possible. We'd keep this up until there are no more supplies left, and then travel together to a new hide-out with all the supplies that we can carry. This would continue forever until the zombie apocalypse was over, until we got saved by the military or a militia, or until got killed (possibily by the military or a militia?). Now, here is how I would handle the types of zombies: Stupids - Low-priority targets, as I can see from the discription. It wouldn't be hard to out-manouver them, which is likely what I would do. Jocks - These seem like dangerous guys, and so they are high-priority targets. Whenever I'd see one, I'd try to shoot it immediately. Midgets - I'd probably treat them the same as Stupids, but I'd try to avoid areas with lots of debris or other objects on the floor. Otherwise, one of them might bite my ankle. Shooters - Depends on where I'd encounter them. In an open area, I'd try to avoid its spit, and either shoot it or run away depending on how much ammo I have. In a crowded or small area however, running away would be the best option, again to mainly avoid the spit. Medievals - If they are as slow as the Stupids, then I'd also avoid them. If not, then I hope they're not wearing armor - If they are, I'd run away. If not, I'd shoot them and steal their weapons. Brutes - Again, depends on how tough and strong they would be. If they are like Tanks from Left 4 Dead (With incredible strength and high bullet resistance), then I'd probably get out of there as fast as I could. If that's not the case however, then I would attempt to kill it while keeping my distance. Assassin - I would truly be paranoid about these guys, if they'd exist. In any case, I'd bring something to protect my back, so they maybe won't instantly kill me from behind. If I'd encounter one from the front, I'd just try and shoot it, or kill it with a melee weapon if it's too close. Supers - I'd just kill myself immediately when I encounter one, no seconds thoughts. Even if I tried to run, these things would easily catch me and violently kill me. Besides, with these guys roaming the earth, there likely won't be much hope for humanity anyway.

Let's see... I can fluently speak English, German and Dutch. I can also speak French and Japanese, but sadly only a "broken" version. Lastly I also learned a bit of Latin back in High School, but I practically forgot most (if not everything) about the language because I've never actually used it.

Yes, I know, another Legend of <name> game, but I assure you that I already made this title before joining the forums. This game has been an idea of mine which I've been carrying around for quite some time, and it's going to be my first custom RMXP game. While I will likely keep using RMXP's basic tilesets, it will include several custom-made sprites, new battlers, and a (in my opinion) compelling and epic storyline. The prologue is as follows: "On a warm summer morning, Atticus and his sister Moira left their village to gather Sunbloom for their father, the town's alchemist. It was a chore they did every Sunday morning; When the harsh week was finally over, the Sunbloom would bloom within the northern forest, blessing it with its beautiful golden appearance. Revered by the village not only for its beauty, the Sunbloom was used in many restorative drinks and potions... And it was an ingredient for one of the most delicious tea recipes of the realm! Yet, as Atticus and Moira were gathering the Sunbloom, they were suddenly greeted by a violent storm... It had come out of nowhere, as if the clouds magically appeared above the forest! Hiding beneath a large tree for shelter, the siblings waited for hours and hours, until clouds finally started to dissipate. The two came out of their shelter, and were suddenly blinded by a bright flash right in front of them! As they regained their sight, the curious siblings neared the source of the flash. What they discovered was an ancient-looking relic, made of pure gold and embedded with diamonds! Thrilled to have found something to valuable, the two carelessly celebrated, and dreamed of the many riches that awaited them. But, as soon as Atticus touched the relic, a giant portal appeared in front of him and tried to suck him in! He struggled with all his might, but it was no use. Within a matter of seconds he was consumed by the portal, only faintly hearing his sister's call for help as the portal closed behind him. Many hours later, Atticus awoke to find himself in a strange place, inhabited by furious monsters, warring races, and a mysterious force known as magic... As Atticus fights to survive in this unknown world, he learns about the ancient relic that appeared before him, and the perilous journey he was destined to take... For he is the one destined to fight the evil; For he is the one who will decide the fate of not one, but five different worlds... For he is the one that will not make the Legend of Chaos come to pass!" Legend of Chaos will be an RPG in the style of Final Fantasy, with a few twists in regards of the gameplay. You start the game at level 1, with Atticus as your only party member. Yet, as the game progresses you will meet several new characters for your team, as well as each of their unique class systems! Since I believe however that deeds can say more then words, I've prepared a small demo which shows the beginning of Legend of Chaos. You may find it at the following link: Legend of Chaos [DEMO] Now, if you are interested in playing Legend of Chaos, please leave a reply in this topic with any possible bugs you might have found, or any ideas which you may have to further improve the game. Depending on the popularity of this game, I may release more parts of the game during the process of its creation, though the final version will all be in one game, together with new features and special treasures for you to seek out! Here is a short list of the issues I'm currently aware of, with a notice of wether or not I fixed them. If you happen to know how to fix these, feel free to send a reply to this topic, or simpily send me a message! :alright: -The starting cinematic has not been created yet, because I first want to learn more about creating cinematics and cutscenes. Any information or hints & tips about cutscenes and special effects will be greatly appreciated! -During the first cutscene (in the Dorei War Camp) you will notice that the camera suddenly jumps down. This is due to the fact that Atticus is made invisible, placed elsewhere, and replaced with an event at his previous location. I found out how to fix this, and I will do so soon. -First real bug I can't fix yet; when when the cutscene after beating War-Mage Sethos ends, Atticus and Lihonessa will be dissapear, and the player won't appear at the right spot until a few seconds have passed. How can I fix this? -When you start the game, the first time that a sound effect triggers it may take a while until you hear it. How do I fix this? For now, enjoy the demo, and don't forget to leave a reply!

My guess is that Pikachu is easily ridiculed by placing weird of funny faces on it. :shifty: This is only my filler avatar, though. I was going to take something else... But I can't seem to find it!
