Hey all, I'm actually a little nervous about posting this topic so bear with me. I've been running RMXPUniverse for nearly two months since it has been remade and reopened. I must say...I think things are just looking up. If some of you remember, I had to quit the old RMXPUniverse (the one you know that was located on invisionplus) due to personal reasons, the site looking quite dead and controversy overshadowing the hard work I put into the old place. Ok, enough info about the old place and onto the new topic. Site: RMXPUniverse Slogan: Dream. Build. Bridge. Description: RMXPUniverse is a site/forum that is dedicated to RPG Maker XP (obviously). Besides a community, our site offers downloads, a topsites, an IRC channel, quizzes, arcades, highly customizable profiles, member blogs, personal discussion boards, a character maker and more! Due to controversy and conflict with other communities, RMXPUniverse had failed to do and thus it had to go offline. This time RMXPUniverse returns. The community is alot more friendlier than before. Forum related A community. Edit History. Edit history allows you, the user to view edits you have made to a post. It also allows you to restore an older post. RSS Feeds Available to use so you can keep tabs on what's up when you're on or away from RMXPUniverse. RPG Maker XP related [align=center]If it's listed in green, that's because it's also a community thing.[/align] Event System/Tutorial Index View all event systems and tutorials made in ABC order. Script Index View a list of all scripts that were posted in RMXPUniverse in ABC order. RTPMaker Character Maker Our character maker returns to RMXPUniverse. Create a hero, an NPC, a villain, etc. New RTPMaker will be released soon. Download Manager A new feature in RMXPUniverse. Upload graphical resources, audio resources, scripts, tutorials, and event-driven systems you made. You can also comment and rate other resources that were uploaded. Profiles RMXPUniverse has highly customizable social network profiles that you can use to take full advantage of. Your profile is what you want it to be. Comes with your own blog and discussion board. Interact Arcades New games are added each week. Also, you can rock the high scores and become king of the arcade or compete with other members by setting up your own tournament. Calendar Any upcoming events you have going on and want us to hear about it? Add an event to the calendar. Chat Download Manager A new feature in RMXPUniverse. Upload graphical resources, audio resources, scripts, tutorials, and event-driven systems you made. You can also comment and rate other resources that were uploaded. Media Player An old feature makes it's return to the new RMXPUniverse. Select a song from your hard drive or from a url and play it while browsing RMXPUniverse. Plaza In the forum, you gain points by creating threads and making posts. With enough points, you get to buy items that can alter your account or the account of someone else. You can also purchase and give others a gift, donate points, steal points by attempting to rob someone, and more. (The richest member at this moment is Tal.) Profiles RMXPUniverse has highly customizable social network profiles that you can use to take full advantage of. Your profile is what you want it to be. Comes with your own blog and discussion board. Quizzes Participate in an existing quiz or create your own quiz. It can be about RPG Maker XP related projects, video games, RPG Maker XP, a certain member (no offensive quizzes), or something off topic like entertainment or whatever you can think of. RMXPUniverse Creating and building bridges with communities It used to be a forum. I ran it for 9-10 months. It had plenty of content. Some members thought they were useless. We used to have arcades, blogs, galleries, personalizing signatures and avatars and much more. RMXPUniverse's best would have to be that RTPMaker. We focused heavily on RPG Maker XP while we tried to keep our members entertained with anime and additional features. Okay, okay, enough of the depressing story. To people that have been past members and visitors of the old RMXPUniverse, the new RMXPUniverse is not going to come back in the shape of a forum. With that said, we are heavily focused on our goal which is to Create and build bridges with other communities. Unlike other RPG Maker dedicated sites that have been coming out of the woodworks recently, we aren't out to become number one or become superior than the popular RPG Maker XP dedicated forum you go to today (i.e.: Creation Asylum and Phanxgames.). We are here to unify the divided, and the isolated communities and sites (Well...not exactly merge into one...), we are here to unify the RMXP Universe. Features Site The site is easy to navigate for the user and easy to update for the admin. Includes chat. Blog The blog is where we discuss almost all things RPG Maker related, particularly XP. This is where I will post updates from other websites, updates from my own website (RMXPUniverse) and post blogs about promising projects. Topsites The RMXPUniverse Topsites is the place to get your site some nice exposure. Feel free to register your website at our topsites. Very simple. Just select the category that your forum is about, finish the registration form, get the code sent to you to paste on your website and you're done. Being a part of our topsites will be able to increase the traffic in your website. When your site is a part of our topsites, be aware that guests and visitors will rate and review your site. Also note that your button will look like a green bar, not the traditional number rank. If your "recognition bar" is filled, this means that your site is most likely one of the top sites in our topsites. The MyUniverse! Our very own myspace-like site. The MyUniverse is the social network portion of the RMXPUniverse. When you register, you will most likely love what's in store for you. Registration to MyUniverse is easy. After becoming a registered member, you will be able to do quite alot. I just haven't uploaded it yet because I am having a bit of technical difficulty with it. Once that's out of the way, I'll be ready to put it up for use. Looks like I can't edit my other comment. I do not mean to offend you because I think you have a great site going and there's nothing wrong with having the features and mods you already have but the ideas of having a blog, a gallery, a wiki, and a school is starting to get a little used up. Get innovative and once more, do something no one has ever attempted to do in their forum or just put something in that'll give your forum the "wow" factor. :) -

I tried to be tough on keeping my site going but I couldn't avoid the inactivity bug. *sigh* Good job Marked. What you might need to do is reduce the amount of forums OR think of something no one in any forum has ever done before. Just think about it and think outside the box. :) -
It was a very hard decision for me to make and I am personally sad that I had to make this decision. But not to worry, I'm not going to abandon RMXPUniverse completely. I have been thinking of ideas inside and out on what exactly to do with RMXPUniverse. Also, the tileset maker idea is not completely trashed. It is still in progress. :P Edit: Thank you Marked.

It used to be on invisionfree and then there was one on IPBfree. I didn't know much about coding and hacks or whatever to make my forum cool like those popular forums like CA. Plus, I was told that RMXPWorld was taken and it went pretty inactive so I closed it down. The creation of RMXPUniverse. Funny story how the forum got created. Sure I'll feel like an idiot later for posting this but what the hell. I won't even mention names of websites although I want to. There was this huge community that was popular. I've somehow became the guy that spammed the forum games over there...(how could you spam the forum games forum? Being creative makes me a spammer? WTH.) and there was a few things going on over there that made me angry and jealous. One day, I was in the IRC Chatroom and I decided to take a leave somewhere so a friend of mine orchestrates a prank on me over there. I get back, I get tons of flames for something I didn't do, I get a warn and I get the banhammer from IRC for a day. That got me pretty p.o.ed and made me want to start RMXPUniverse. Purpose? So I didn't exactly know what the heck was going to be the purpose of RMXPUniverse. So I decided to make this a place where noobs don't have to get picked on. One day, I was creating the topsites for my forum and then that's when I thought to myself, this forum I have should live up to its name. And so I want it to live up to its name. That's when the slogan for RMXPUniverse became "Creating and building bridges with communities." That was when I also created the RMXPUniverse topsites. So I made a few mistakes. Ok guys, so I made a few mistakes. Everyone makes them. Sure I made some stupid decisions on what to add to RMXPUniverse like...everyone having their own music player...the heck was I thinking. Extras - Animes - Arcades - Blogs (Actual ones.) - Chat - Gallery - IRC - Music Player (If you don't like Windows Media Player or something, you could play your song on the RMXPUniverse music player while browsing. Play the song directly from your hard drive or from a URL. Heck, you could even play your movies!) - RTPMaker XP Character Maker - Shoutbox - Topsites - Wiki Personalize! - A huge PM inbox, so no need to stress about your PM inbox space. - Personalize your avatar. (Filters? Sure. Non-adobe users can benefit!) - Personalize your name. (Sure, edit your name a little bit.) - Your signature is in a box. It's so our discussion pages don't get flooded and I don't have to worry about sig restrictions.) - Personalize your signature. (Since your sig is in a box, I've added a few features some may call useless. You could adjust the height of your sig from a drop down menu, add a background image (People got creative with this), change the style of border, change border color, change sig background color, even have a filter on your sig. - Post your pictures. Use our gallery for your needs. Post screenshots of your games or submit your graphics! - Create your own weblog. Talk about life, the game you're developing...or anything you like! Those are meant for transitions. Transitions are usually black and white although color images work. It's really used for battles but it can also be used in maps as well if you use the prepare and execute transition event commands.

Pretty old post. I did something like when you press a button, your character speeds up. My method of doing it (I'm sure people have other methods.) Create a common event. The trigger should be parallel and select a switch. Create a conditional branch that states if a button was pressed. It could be any button. Inside the conditional branches, speed up the player's movement. (Put speed on Faster) Make sure the else handler is checked. In the else handler, slow down the player's speed. It should be fast. Not slow, slower, slowest, faster, or fastest. Just fast.
