Bob423:
Why have only one? Aren't they basically the same thing? Hating someone because they're different and they can't help it?

Omar510:
I don't accept Racism in anyway.
Why? because i'm Mexican and being insulted (even if it's a joke) i will be like really mad at that person and won't talk to him.

Bigace360:
I actually feel more disrespected that fruit cakes would try to compare their b.s. with black people's 400 years of struggle.
So say race equality is obviously better. Only reasons why fruit cakes are being hated on is because of religion mostly.

Marked:
@omar: u dont because you're Mexican? Lol. Ya anyway not sure its nice to call them fruit cakes but my point was there seems to be this shift where lgbt inequality is the important issue
I just feel like there are 1001 issues more important than ANY type of couple. Im a sure a gay minority would rather be treated equal first and then get married later? Idk. Lets find one...

Bigace360:
I'm fine with getting along with lesbians if that counts.

Bob423:
You have to remember that equal marriage means that anyone can get married to anyone and doesn't give special rights to homosexuals. You won't have to put up with anyone any more than you already have to. It's the incredibly up front, in your face, gays that I can't stand. It's just as weird as anyone else running around in inappropriate "clothes."
Bigace is starting to sound a tad homophobic...
To me it's pretty similar to equal race rights. A group of people who are considered different want equal rights, but a lot of people instead go the other way and give them special rights like being able to have weird gay pride parades that no one should let their kids see.

Bigace360:
Actually it's no way the fking same and if they want to be married and miserable like rest of the Americans then let them, that doesn't concern me. Also I'm not being homophobic I'm talking truth. As I said before blame religion on world s homophobia. People were gay way before religion.
Religion just put the phobia in people's minds. If you ask the most people its either because it makes them sick or because of their god.

Marked:
I actually did mean gay rights compared to racism and which issue is more important to society (or the media)

Bob423:
I seem to have a misunderstanding with Bigace...time for me to leave before I do anything we'll regret

UrHappyPlz:
How about just dropping all the bs and acknowledging general human rights instead of going on trite arguments over which is more important?

Omar510:
Yeah, lets stop before i delete the status....

Bob423:
That was part of my point, happy :D

Omar510:
Why comment this on a status when we could of just create a topic about this discussion?

Bigace360:
dear god, I leave for 20 mins and we're already on comment 17. We should open a thread.

Bob423:
It practically is a thread already.

Marked:
@urhappyplz: it isnt bullshit. You're missing the point. Im not sure id call marriage a human right. Someone start a topic

Bob423:
It's not a human right, but if everyone else can merry their lover, why not gay people?

Posted this in the debate and mature discussion forum because I think we need to be civil and serious about this as it can be a touchy topic, even thought it really shouldn't be.

Plus it seemed like Bigace got a little angry with "Actually it's no way the fking same" and I'd like to avoid any more of this...angry...ness...

Comments were copy/pasted directly so I didn't edit grammar or anything, in case you cared.

If you are a utilitarian, the answer is race.

Else its not quantifiable, however if we cite Dr. King, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to Justice everywhere...", then LGBT and Racial equality are equivalent and part of human equality. Furthermore, sexual orientation and race are just constructs of humans desire to seperate themselves from others, then they are simply artificial divisions on equality because we can't institute the whole thing at once.

Ehh this wasnt supposed to be a debate on that. The answer is race equality.

The discussion is about which society values more and whether or not we have our priorities in the right place.

I think that's true but I don't think it's hard to take the two, put them side by side, and say which of these is more important. Although I'm not sure why we really need to have that discussion.

I just don't think that the developements in LGBT rights should be celebrated like it's women getting to vote (of which NZ was the first in the world, woot), the freeing of the slaves in the US, etc. It's not the same level of oppression, and all of these rights are a natural progression of society. It won't be long until gay marriage is accepted everywhere.

The next fight is internet freedom k guyz. The newer generation of yanks won't be so easily to manipulate unless they censor the internet. Tis comin'.

That, and pharmaceuticals / labs purposely not curing diseases so that they can sell continuous medications to merely manage symptoms. Fuckers. It's not profitable to cure a disease.

The answer to this question varies widely based on which "society" we are talking about. In the most general sense racial equality has been more prevalent over the century. So LGBT equality typically follows afterword, simply because its otherwise too fractured to become a meaningful movement, i.e LGBT women wouldn't be able to advocate for such without women's rights anyway.

I think that's true but I don't think it's hard to take the two, put them side by side, and say which of these is more important. Although I'm not sure why we really need to have that discussion.

Are you sure you could say the same, disregarding an influences society has had on your opinion? That's why these "distinctions" are human constructs. Short answer: No. Long Answer: Making this comparison requires you to do it in a sociological lens.

I just don't think that the developements in LGBT rights should be celebrated like it's women getting to vote (of which NZ was the first in the world, woot), the freeing of the slaves in the US, etc. It's not the same level of oppression, and all of these rights are a natural progression of society.  You're technically right. A valuated claim trying to quantify the level of oppression is subjective and biased to experience, in some part of the world homosexuals aren't even considered human. Although its a matter of semantics, magnitude would be a better choice of word because racial inequality has been going on for so long among a significant portion of the world and Racial equality was basically a prerequisite for the other forms.

The internet is the last true haven of the free world.

@Mark You've been following Kim Dotcom haven't you?

About the homosexual topic. I've seen interesting theories about homosexuality and a good theory is that homosexuality is something natural because it could be nature's way of controlling thr human population. And us humans are not the only specie that can be homosexual. Nature does the same thing with animals.

Swans for example.

Lets move on with the internet freedom topic.

A couple of years ago the United States presented two bills named SOPA and PIPA in which it only reason was to censor the internet well of course in the United States. Sure we've had bills similar as this like ACTA but the internet is so powerful that it makes a powerful billionaire into a normal person.

I've been supporting internet figures such as Kim Dotcom who supports internet freedom and fights greedy hollywood companies. The internet is the face of humanity because you can speak out your words without being censored and anonymously.

We have more information on the net. And we can learn about more stuff then we do in school. This is the internet. And of course we don't forget about the porn..

Right mark? That 1.5GB file....yeah...any sneak peak?

They are equally important. I don't see either happening anytime soon in America. We have laws in America protecting racial groups and we will soon have similar laws for homosexuals. However, laws don't change people's hearts. There will always be ignorant racists and homophones.

tbh this was the first time i even heard of that game, If i were Dong I would simply ignore it, people in the game industry need thicker skins and need to realize that now that they are becoming mainstream entertainment makers they should expect it.

Im not justifying the hate, but honestly if you don't interact with the it, it will dissipate quickly

Especially since I want to be a game designer myself, it makes me angry that I'm over here hustling and this guy is distressed by his success. I would love to be in his position. Maybe if he was getting sued or facing some legal action, then I would back down but seriously there are simple ways to make to avoid this.

Its not like he's getting DDOSed like EA was.

You just took the words out of mind. And your opinion is what many are talking about. However, the creator of flappy bird took down the game because it was too addictive and the creator for some reason didnt want that...

But f**k EA them bastards want the money.

I disagree. He tweeted that it ruined his simple. Sure any murican n most of us would love the success, money, attdntion but this guy is Vietnamese and the cultures aren't exactly the same. Besides we shouldn't trust wat we hear on the nets. Anyway off topic guys geez.

I thought about and I was wrong when I said this debate isn't lgbt equality vs race equality. That is essentially the argument.

I am very very suprised to hear rko thinks they are equally important given his perceptions of being a minority.

I suppose many say people are born gay. Certainly this cannot be the case for all. So for me it seems that discrimination against what you are and what u were born with (Your race) is a lot worse than discrimination against what you do and who u make the sexy time with.
