Kadski 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I had an idea that on RMXP we could write a manga and upload a new chapter every week. I think it would be a cool thing to do and it would help get us new members. If anyone wants to help justg reply, or if you have any ideas on story, characters, ect just reply!!! Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I would, but, my drawing skills are below average, but they don't suck balls. And I blow at stories. But, I do wish you good luck, it sounds like a fun idea!
Kadski 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2008 I cant draw that well XD But I have an awesome story idea lined up. It starts with a kid who walks into his house hes about 7 or so (Note that this is set in victorian times). And asks his mom why none of the other kids have this mark (Which is a pentogram on his forehead, not larger then a quarter or so). His mom tells him its just a birthmark and he shouldn't think about it. They sit down for lunch when his dad comes in and shuts for them to hide, mid sentance the door is blown upen by a demon it rushes into the house and kills the dad and the mom right before it kills the kid it disolves and behind it we see a man wearing a big black coat that goes to the floor with a hood so we cant see his face. He looks at the kid (Who is covered in blood) and notices the pentogram and then he tells the kid to come with him. The kid doesn't respond and just sits there with a blank look in his eye. The man picks up the kid and carries him outside. Next panel is a black and says "10 years later" on it. The kid is now grown up and is wearing a big coat like the man except the hood is down. =========I'll write more toomarow========
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 8, 2008 Moved to RPG Maker Discussion. That story kind of reminds me of Harry Potter with the parents being murdered and him surviving. I think the idea of an RMXP Manga is good. Though it would sort of have to stick to the theme of RPG Maker XP(like arshes graphics, etc.) otherwise it's just another comic on an RMXP forum. Also, doesn't manga have to be Japanese for it to be called manga? Another similar topic mentioned an animated type thing. You would think animation is a lot harder than drawing comics, but using graphics from RMXP, it's much easier. If there are no artists to do this, then perhaps that is an alternative. Or at least would could trial both. What do you think?

It doesn't really have to be Japaneses to be manga as long as it looks Japanese it can be considered manga so using the graphics from the Rpg maker would be fine for that. Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted June 9, 2008 It can be considered Manga as long as it has the same style. In example: picture slides progress in reverse, rather than a standard comic. Which progresses from right to left.
Kadski 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 I didn't meen for this to be involved with RPG maker. I just ment it would be something cool to do.

Also, skip everything except the last sentence, and start from there, filling in the past details later.
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 11, 2008 I didn't meen for this to be involved with RPG maker. I just ment it would be something cool to do. Oh, then why did you put RMXP in the title? Sort of gives the impression it involves RPG Maker  So you just want to do a Manga or a comic? For the argument of creating "Manga", it is read from right to left as that is how the Japanese read and that is why it is called Manga(being japanese). So really you cannot make Manga unless it is in japanese or reads right to left. And to create english manga that reads right to left would just be silly. I'm not a fan of Manga or Anime at all, or comics, so I'm out of this one ;) I take it you want this topic moved back?
Kadski 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 I don't really care, but I can write hiragana.
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 So you plan to write this Japanese? Strangely, I know the hiragana and katakana syllabus and don't know two words of japanese. I take it you actually know how to speak japanese? I think you should write some more of the story for us to read :D
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 This is reminding me of Megatokyo. Man. I still need to buy the Manga.

There are in fact quite a few left to right, english manga.
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 I guess it more or less the "anime" style of drawings that make it a Manga, yeah?
Maph 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 No, it's the other way around. Anime are often drawn in a manga style.
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 Sorry Marked, but your whole post is all wrong. There are in fact quite a few left to right, english manga. Yeah, I can't argue, I know very little on the subject. Though, English Manga? I'm pretty sure the only English manga was translated from Japanese. Unless the English creator wanted to write manga so made it read from left to right. Anyhow it doesn't make sense to me.
masamonkey 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Yeah, I can't argue, I know very little on the subject. Though, English Manga? I'm pretty sure the only English manga was translated from Japanese. Unless the English creator wanted to write manga so made it read from left to right. Anyhow it doesn't make sense to me. Well, the word 'manga' is derived from a term that loosely meant 'amusing pictures,' so there's nothing really inately japanese about the term itself any moreso than 'comic' would be inately english in regards to the boundaries of culture beyond semantics. Now at least a hundred years past the inception of either term in their original forms, our respective cultures have assigned several tertiary nuances and meanings to both. Several sinophiles among international otaku culture would wish to keep japanese comics -only- as being termed manga because they have some sort of distaste for western culture in any form, but in the meantime, the Prime Minister of Japan is offering awards to what he terms 'international manga' so I'll defer to his superior knowledge of the japanese language and culture. I get the feeling you're only arguing the base semantics due to a distaste and disdain for that form of entertainment, though. In regard to that, congratulations on the whole video game thing. Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted September 5, 2008 Writer's Tip: Don't use parentheses when adding details about a character or telling a story. Simply rewrite sentences to include those details. Example- He stared at the floor(which was purple and ugly). It could say- He stared at the hideous, violet colored floor in disgust.
Ratty524 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2008 Isn't manga just another name for a graphic novel in Japan? If it was made in Japan, it would be called "manga", in america we'd might just refer to it as being a comic. Also, the "anime style" is highly subjective. Of course we know the "shojo" style that allows us to distinguish a manga character, but the people who draw them are still artist, and not all of manga I've seen have the same style (some look even more "western", like Tezuka's style). Whether we call this a "manga" or just a "comic" I don't feel it would make a difference.
