Over the course of the next few days we will be working to change the website quite a bit. Please bear with us as we do this. If you start to post a topic, then it suddenly ends up in a completely different forum, understand it is due to the overhall. A lot will be changing, and we are hoping for the better. It is possible that we may also change forum programs, but that is dependant on how well we can do this overhall with IPB. My current thoughts are switching to PHPBB due to it's full customization ability, but that's a desperate measure, and would take a while due to trying to transfer the database between programs (a feet which could take a month to even do).

So, please, bare with us as we do this, and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

EDIT: I am now including, for everyone to see, a list of the changes that have happened. Anything listed in red, however, is a possible change, and is not guaranteed, but is currently on the list of "possible changes".

Changes

Forum Layout

Addition of Bug Report Forum

Addition of Questions and Assistance Forum

Addition of two types of lifestyle forums

Addition of a Mature Discussion forum

Added support of the entire RPG Maker series

Added support of Action Game Maker

Added support of Adventure Game Studio

Added support of "Game Maker"

Added minor support to other misc game makers

Added Sports Discussion

Added Photography to the Design Studio

Added a makeshift guild system

Added more avatars to the avatar gallery

Changed to PHPBB

Changed avatars to customizable characters

Added "mini shops" so avatars can buy clothes, accessories, items, etc.

Added Awards mod

And at current that is all I have planned (though more may change, depending on what we can do with mods). Also, you'll notice one of the current changes planned actually contradicts some of the other changes. This is because it all depends on what we are able to do with IPB, and what we can do if we are able to switch to PHPBB. In the end, we'll have to see how it goes.

The switch to PHPBB will more then likely only occur if we can transfer accounts and such. So, basically, the chances of having to remake your accounts is slim. It depends on how exactly this overhaul works out, and if the switch to PHPBB is necessary or not.

Well, most of the changes have been made...I'm still trying to think of how else to modify the forum...I have a lot if ideas, but I need help for some of them, and others...I don't know if they can be done with IPB...I was currently thinking of modifying this site to be more of a social gathering place along with a game making help site... An example of what I mean would be the world's biggest forum: Gaia Online but some of the stuff they do can only be done with PHPBB, or a custom forum program (such as the avatars, which is actually one of the ideas I have)

As a note, one thing everyone will notice is the game section. It has been modified, and is no longer supporting only RPG Maker XP and VX. To try and bring in members, we are now supporting the entire RPG Maker series as well as Enterbrain's new game maker (which comes out in japan sometime in March) called Action Game Maker. Also, we are also supporting Adventure Game Studio and Game Maker, as well as other forms of game making (though not quite as much help can be given on the "other" simply because I don't think we have many members with that much experience outside of RPG Maker).

So, here's to hoping that the increased amount of game making resource categories will actually increase our resources, and thus also allow us to increase in our "social network".

EDIT: Added a poll at the top, along with a list of the updates (possibly coming and done) in the first post. Please vote and comment on how you voted. Also, for those who are active, we've got tons of new forums to interact in! Let's use them! Come on people!

i think its out of his hands now... we kinda gotta do this on our own? I think that once we get this up and running the way we all (admins and such) want, i think that this place could be very successful... and, I plan on contributing a ton once we get this all done. Ive got some new art work done and some new pixel stuff... and Im gonna keep goin to help out here... but I wont post the stuff till we make a switch... in which i voted yes for...

What? No nothing is out of my hands. The changes Emily has made were brought on because we discussed it on msn. One of the first things I asked was should we shut down RMXP Unlimited. I'd rather it be shutdown than be so dead. After I approached staff members via PM and made a topic in the staff section, we had come up with nothing. And for the first time in many months, there was a day that reached 0 posts.

Chief, you will not contribute unless a switch to PHPBB is made?

For a start, your votes in the poll will be nice to see, but pointless because if we do switch software then we're taking our members with us. I suppose different things are important to different admins, but I definitely do want to start again with registrations. Our goal with this is to increase activity, so to start again with registrations would probably not be an advantage for us in achieving that goal.

Of course I've seen this topic, and most things Emily and I discuss. We are a team.

As for a switch in software, it is obvious what my preference is, but if its for the good of RMXP Unlimited then i will go with it.

I would also like to say that I'm disappointed to not have any feedback from more staff members. To show support or not. This is one of the biggest changes since we moved from invisionfree, but I think everyone would agree that change is necessary.

Well if you ask feedback I will give it, excuse me for my lack of response. I'm just not really sure what to say on the topic - or I just don't think my opinion be worth giving. Not that I lack confidence or anything.

I have agreed on the poll to sign back up on the site if our registrations were lost. I do love this site and I would be most willing to stick with it.

I agree with whatever the rest of the members feel is best for this website to keep it going.

Wow, it's surprising to see no one has voted no to resigning up. Now, remember, this poll is an extreme measure. We plan to take our members with us, but this is just in case the two forum softwares are, in fact, incompatible, and we have to remake everything from the beginning. Also, new feature: Guilds!

I find PHPBB hard to use, but I would rejoin if we did. Overall though I do prefer IP.Board. I will go with whatever choice you choose those. Before you decide to change the software, could you contact me so that I can back up the database and forum files if ever you wish to return to IP.Board.

Also, I have found, for IP.Board, a mod that allows you to have guilds and stuff, and to buy things, it should be compatible with the points mod. It also allows you to fight with other members, like a mini forum RPG. If you want that, I can give it to you :P

Sounds good, isaacsol, send it over and I'll check it out. Marked may need to install it (I don't have access to the site itself, yet), but it should work for what we need.

isaacsol is talking about an IPB mod so there should be no problems. I just don't know what guilds are :P

I am active but I don't post so much anymore. A skin change sounds like a good idea, but that will happen after all the forum changes are completed.

Sorry I haven't been active much lately. Been a lot going on in my life Marked.

First off I would definitely prefer IPB over PHPBB anyday.

The new changes don't look bad from what I seen so far.

Also, as far as the skin Chief. I would work on a new one if I could get my pc to work. :(

I haven't been online much lately... just saw the email from you guys.

After reading this topic though just wanted to point out another alternative: MyBB (http://www.mybboard.net) its really like vBulletin only not bloated and much easier to use... oh yeah, and its free :D I'd definitely recommend you check it out. As long as you have a backup of the forums there is a MyBB Merge system from IPB > Mybb

We have to do testing with PHPBB before we can consider switching, so I really can't say about that one. I have some plans, but I'm waiting for Marked to contact me...he said he had a way for me to test out PHPBB, but he hasn't said anything further...

Sorry about that, I had moved into a new house about a week ago(the most stressful thing I've had to do to date) and didn't have internet since yesterday. I still don't have internet on my computer and I've been checking it on my ipod, so I'll be gone for a few days yet. I would have internet but my brother stole my wireless network card. Damn brothers. I'm buying an internet cable tomorrow so i can get it to computer(hopefully). After that, we'll talk :)

Ahh, that makes sense, well, whenever you get the chance, I'm still waiting and all so ^^ On another note, I can't do much more website updating until I can get access to the main site, so for now, the overhaul is done, but I'll be doing more when I get more access.
