Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted January 2, 2009 I've always wondered wether wrestling was considered a sport. Most wresting is completely fake including the horrible acting and dialogue. Though,it does involve atheletics. It's surprisingly harder to "pretend" punch someone than to really do it. Any thoughts?
Marked 197 Report post Posted January 2, 2009 No, it can't be a sport. Its just entertainment. The "best" entertainer doesn't win, right? Its all staged and therefor there can't be a winner or person who won due doing something better than other competitor. Personally I can't stand watching it. I can't remember his name, but one guy died trying to enter the ring by gliding down on a rope wire.

WWE wrestling is definitely fake and not a sport, but like Olympic wrestling and stuff is 100% sport!

From that definition, while wrestling is mostly an act, there is physical exertion, some skill, it has rules (?), and it is played competitively. So I guess it's a sport. Punk 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2009 WWE/TNA/etc. is entertainment. Keyword, entertainment. So of course it's "fake". Of course the matches are pre-determined I'm sure. However, please don't disregard that it takes skill, exercise and what-have-you to wrestle and while the stories and matches "aren't real", the bumps and bruises are definitely real. No, I don't actively watch wrestling like I used to. John Cena being all-powerful like Hulk Hogan, WWE going PG and children cheering for him made me not like watching WWE anymore. Bare in mind, people actually die wrestling. I can't remember his name, but one guy diedtrying to enter the ring by gliding down on a rope wire. Owen Hart? That was pretty fucked up, yeah.
