Marked 197 Report post Posted June 20, 2009 Firstly everyone should know that the forum upgrade that I mentioned a while ago is postponed. If we're lucky it will be another month, but I expect it to be more than that. I had deleted most of the forum modifications for this reason, so I'd be willing to install them again while we wait for the upgrade to happen. Any mod requests that anyone would like back? If not, I'll gradually install a couple myself that we'd been using for a while. Most of these updates are for the Script Archive, which is my main project(for the moment). Within the next couple of months it will be open to the public(you will be able to submit your own scripts into it). The first update is a sort of integration with the Scripts Archive and the forums. This is in the form of author and user recognition. That basically means, wherever in the Script Archive the author of the script appears and that author is a member of this forum, you can click on the author and it will take you to their profile. Example: Custom Menu Systems(category view) - in the author row, my username and Polraudio's is clickable. Example2: Custom Skill Screen(item/article view) - Not that I can script, but you can see here you click my username and it will take you to my profile. The way in which this script works is that it compares the author's name in the item/article, to any username of the forum that matches that authors name. If the author is Marked, it will search the database for the username Marked, and return an id of 1. So in that way it is limited. If i were to submit a script and type in an author of "marked1" or something different than "Marked", it would not link to my profile. I may rewrite the code once users can submit their own scripts(depends, because if a member were to submit a script he did not write then its pointless to link to his profile). Members on the forum who are linked in the archive are: -Marked -Leon -Polraudio -woratana -isaacsol -Dark Dragon -Rafidelis -Zeriab -EmilyAnnCoons The second update is the new Script Icons(i'll copy this from the announcement on the website). Introducing Script Archive Icons, the newest feature in the Scripts Archive. These icons are a symbol, displayed on the category view, of what the main elements of the Script article are. Icon Key(as they appear) the script article contains access to a support topic the script article contains screenshots Download RGSS Script Demo Manual Each icon is linked to an anchor. That is, you can click on an icon and it will take you to that element in the Script article. For example, if you click the Screenshots icon, you will be taken into the article where the screenshots are. I wont go into any detail in the stat type features I did a couple of days ago. There is a script archive stats module and a few new things in the login module(with more things to come).

Marked 197 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 Cool. *gives a smirk* Nice to see you are still bettering the site. Ha, well I've had a bit of an attitude change. I'm rather dedicated to the site right now, and all the features I've got planned are a return to the members who kept the forum alive. Nice to see you've returned. Without you here, as well as the absence of Ark and Wyz, it wouldn't feel so much like RMXP Unlimited. I feel like I've been so inactive I don't know...anyone around here. Anyway, on the subject of bettering the site, they are many many things to come. Not to mention I cannot do anything on the forum because it will soon be upgraded. The limitations are getting smaller and smaller for me. Of course this means nothing if I'm doing no work on "community". Our main source of traffic is no longer available, and since that happened, the number of users have been cut be 2/3's. This source attracted users who were new to RPG Maker XP, and now we're without it. I have a lot of statistics available to me, and hopefully I can exploit these and eventually increase the quantity of active users. However I face a difficult issue. With less and less RMXP communities being created, more users go to the largest RMXP forums. Decreased competition is bad for little guy. Sorry for rambling... Among all that, I'm trying to get the point across that I'm working on all areas to improve the site. I have goals set, and we'll achieve them as a community. I would like to set up the staff forum again, but I'm worried about the lack of contribution it would get. What are your thoughts? I also had the idea of a "trusted members" forum, which is the same concept except letting in our most active members for their opinions. Nice. Like the updates. Icons make everything easier too. Cant wait to start adding some scripts in with the new submitter once its in there. Uhuh, hopefully that will be soon! I'm confident I will be able to code it. I've often caught myself wondering how I'm going to do it while wondering around the house(which is a serious concern). I figure it will take me a full day to do the coding for most of it. The rest is a real challenge. The screenshots have to local and in their own directory. Challenging. And secondly to be able to edit your submissions. I'll post updates on my progress in my blog. After my exam on Tuesday, I will begin.

Marked 197 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 Well I won't really tell that they are updates cuz I'm new, but I sure do love them updates! Well, just read the topic and you'll see whats been altered. I'll be in honest in saying this topic didnt need to be made as these arn't major updates or features. I suppose I'm guilty of wanting to show off what I've been working on. I don't consider myself good at coding or even a computer person(ironically), but I've put a bit of time into the new features and surprised myself that I finished some. For example, since the start of the website more than a year ago, I had always wanted the authors in articles to link to their profiles in the forums. There's next to no support for the website software, and a year ago I thought it was impossible. It took me 10 minutes to make it work.
Wyzrd 12 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 I disagree as how you said this post isn't neccesary, I think it's good. It'll show people that you are still doing things for the site. I should be back more now, I'll post a intro thread for more on this for now. As far as these updates I like them, I look forward to more things you may do in the future. Great to have you back, really. Awwwwwwe I want the update!! But ill wait, at least the script archive is coming!! Also this post was very much needed!! The updates look nice and hope to see them in a month if not then we all shall wait :D Thanks RMXPirate. I think a lot of members do not use the site, at least in comparison to guests who may come just for scripts. Today was my last exam for the semester, so I'm hoping for a speedy release of the script submission section. Also, I have a completely custom reviews section planned based on Arkbennetts design, and I hope to work with him to release it once/if he returns.
Wyzrd 12 Report post Posted June 23, 2009 Ark should be back soon, he's in California right now. He told me he might be back home tomorrow. Granted he still has his daughter to take care, but I'll tell him to get on RMXPU to talk to you Marked.
