Jacen 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) They say that beyond the world of Issia is a realm of pure chaos and madness known as the Void. This is the place where the Corrupted dwell and our only protection from it are the omnipotent guardians we call Eidolons. There once was a time when the people of these lands worshipped the Eidolons as if they were gods, and as a reward for our conviction they granted us some of their energy to help protect us from the darkness that threatened to tear us apart, we call this power "Essence" But when the Order took over faith in the old spirits was lost and we became servants to an ancient sentient crystal known as the Anima. The Order said that the Eidolons were arrogant abominations who were keeping the most powerful Essence to themselves so they showed us how we could bind the Eidolons to Issia, and take their energy from them through force. At first some people objected to this, but the Essence made our lives a lot easier. We started to build machines we could never imagine in the ancient days and our cities became fuelled by their power. But this stolen power has come at a cost. The Corrupted have began to pour through the rifts between worlds and the very fate of the cosmos may hang in the balance. Dark times have befallen the continent of Issia. A government of religious zealots called simply "The Order" have overtaken the lands and everything in it is subject to there will, those who oppose are destroyed quickly and silently by their Inquisitors and the feared Templar's. The Order has taught the people to abandon their faith in their primal spirits and focus their worship on an ancient Crystal monolith known as the Anima. They have begun summoning and binding the Eidolons to extract Essence from them against there will, and as they do so the lifeblood of the very universe is lost. The Order may rule supreme but there are those with the courage to stand up to them. A dissipate and highly secretive group of rebels fight a dire battle against this insurmountable foe. Now a young man sent on what seems a trivial mission may uncover the secret to destroying the order and uncovering his own mysterious past. This is a Final Fantasy story and in it are present many of the themes of the series. Yes there are Chocobo's, Moogles, Summons, and an Engineer called Cid but more so than that I'm trying to infuse my project with the deep sense of characterisation and the unique narrative style that we all know and love. I will be happy if I even come close to that. Noa Osma Age: 21 Height: 5'11 Job: Ex-Templar Weapon Sword Limit Sword Techniques "I fight because I believe." Noa is the games protagonist. He is a capable soldier who has a strong conviction to fighting the Order, a conviction founded in a depraved past. He is a lively individual who will stand up for those in need, often on impulse and to the trouble of his companions. Noa was once a member of the Orders holy knights, The Templars and is the only know example of anyone who has managed to turn away from them after contact with the fabled Anima. On his journey he will discover more about who he is and what he truly fights for. Additional Background Information It is customary for all new Templars to be brought before the monolith known as the Anima and when they touch its surface they are forever joined to its sentence and bound to its will. When the Anima spoke to Noa and told him find his fellow Templar, a sadistic man name Sargus and journey to the the small village of Shar he did so obediently. After his arrival it commanded that he slaughter all who stood and burn the place to the ground. As Sargus began destroying all in sight, somehow Noa managed to break his link with the Anima. He took up his blade and it was Sargus he struck, severing his arm. But it was too late. Sargus's powerful magic had burned the town to ash and all save a small girl lay dead. Noa took the girl in his arms and told Sargus to return to the Anima and tell it the next time he would touch it would be when he looked down upon it, shattered too pieces. After these events Noa was branded a Heretic and he joined the rebel group that seek to take down the Order. . Early Concept Art Kale Magnus Age: Unknown Height: 5'5'' Job: Red Mage Weapon Revolvers "This is the end here for you, you shall not live past this day." Mysterious, brooding and unpredictable Kale is a member of a very ancient organisation that disappeared from the world long ago, the Red Mages. Wielding both poweful magic and his revolvers with deadly accuracy he hunts The Order without mercy or hesitaion for the extinction of his arcane brethren.' Ceana Moonstar Age: 20 Height: 5'3'' Job: Priest Weapon Staff "Faith is sometimes belief even in the absence of truth." Both beautiful and kind it would shock most to learn that Ceana is a devout priestess of the Order. She embodies an unearthly grace that few can ignore when they meet her. But a chance encounter with some Heretics may question that faith, and set her on a path that will change her life forever. This is by no means a comprehensive list and will be updated with new characters as development continues. CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted August 8, 2009 I might, but for right now I'm writing my novel. In order for me to ever have free time, I'd have to finish my novel first, ya know? But if I have the time, I'd defiantly play the demo ^^
solshadow 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2009 Very impressive! I would say add a badass non villian character like Gabranth in FF12 (I am just IN LOVE with his weapon! Twin blades that combine to form a double bladed lance thing!) but you already have everything nicely planned out. I like very much
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted August 8, 2009 Well it looks pretty good, but the story is what counts to me. Suikoden is one of my favorite series! lol. Did you know Jaques is really Jack? The translator on that series suck my dick. Anyhow, I'll have a go at the demo.

I did indeed yeah, suikoden translations have always been a bit sketchy. Great games though. Be sure to tell me your thoughts and any areas that could be improved on the demo. CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 Can I ask you some questions about your game? Questions 1: What RPG Game Maker are you using? XP? 2: Could you link to the battlers you have? Or tell meh where ya got em? I know it says Minkoff/DreVVulfman, but I searched and searched for his stuff a month ago and I could find any >.< 3: Where did you get Paradog's battle system from? The one place I checked, the script was screwed up and it never worked for me... And finally, where did you get the menu system? Again, I failed at finding it lol Also, did I mention how awesome this game looks? :> I'm trying to make mine in XP, and I think I can make it a pretty good Final Fantasy game, clearly it won't be as good as yours, considering I am the only member :}

I am using RMXP 2 .The character battlers are custom made by my spriter and I am not going to release them at this time. The monster battlers are ripped and composed onto spritesheets by myself from various games. I did create a topic for them way back when but I cant find it now xD.You can get a few good ones here: http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/lofive....php/t4967.html 3. My battle system is based on paradogs but it has been edited so much by my scripter its not really the same script any more. Again I want to keep the games custom scripts unique to my project until it is complete. Sorry I cant be of more help and I am glad you like my project, you should really try the demo. Petros 9 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Good to see you're here too. I was just about to post Zero here.
Jacen 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Yeah man, I have posted the project across a few boards. Good to see you are posting zero here as well. I will have to download the demo when I get a chance. I played it many moons ago but the project looks like it has changed a lot since those days. Have you tried my demo? Update 18th Aug 2009 Just a little update on my progress. I have been working on the scenes following the end of the demo as well as tinkering with the gameplay mechanics. Right now I am toying with the idea of making the defend command recover HP/MP. Its not by much and there is only a chance that it will work but it adds a nice dynamic and makes the defend command a much more tactical option. Perhaps there will be a purple materia later in the game that enhances the chance of the recovery working, as well as the amount that will be recovered. Limit break progression has been reduced greatly making battles feel more tactical and less dependent on luck. Here is a screenshot of a scene I just finished, its your introduction to the main female character in the game and perhaps Noas love interest later on. Does anyone have any ideas for a name for her? Right now she has the working title of Saya but its far to generic and does not really fit. Final Fantasy names often have other meanings such as aeris or arith being the modification of a star sign name and Terra being latin for earth. Or was that greek for earth? Anyways if anyone has any ideas let me know.
Petros 9 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 I did give it a try but it didn't seem to work. I haven't got a demo out for Zero anymore. When Demonfire completes the Orb Script though I'll probably release it. I'm going to download your demo again and see if it works, if not I'll contact you directly. As for a name for your female love interest/protagonist. Yeah Terra was Earth in Latin and Monster in Greek. Tell me a little about her and I'm sure I can come up with a more poetic name with a meaning to it. Nearly all my characters in Zero have one.
Jacen 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 What sort of error are you getting? Her profile above sums her up. A sort of strong, pure character. She has a resounding faith in what she does despite evidence otherwise. Religion is a strong theme in my game, thus the lead character being called "Noa", the meaning of this makes sense later on in the story. She believes in the power of faith but understands that this can be perverted by the evils of men. Think a more assertive and grown up version of Yuna from FF10 with a dash of Garnet from FF9. CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 @Jacen: Oh...okay lol I understand...do you know where I could find the original scripts by Paradog than? I need something close to Final Fantasy or I can't go any further in my game. I've tried every forum I could think of, none of them had SephirothSpawn or Paradogs work. *Sigh* If you could point me in the right direction, I'd be extremely happy ^^ Also, I have a friend who is helping me with a Esper script, I'm helping as well, if I can clear up some time, I might be able to play the demo :) Well, thank you for your time though, Jacen. Good luck with your project as well, I hope to see it finished soon.
Mahdi 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2009 They say that the there was a time when there was no such thing as fiends roaming this world, That they were the result of a war between two celestial forces, struggling for control of Terra, In the end a truce was met for the destruction of the planet benefitted neither side, It was decided that mortals could shape there own destiny, that the powers of the great beyond could not intervene, The truce held sway, but the darkness stirred in the void and from its malice came the fiends that plauge us to this very day, In retaliation to the enrouching black the force's of light granted us some of Terra's power to protect it, we call this power Materia, This is the story my father told me when I was a little boy, He told me it to keep me safe from the truth. Dark times have befallen the world of Terra. A government of religious zealots called simply "The Order" have overtaken the world and everything in it is subject to there will, those who oppose are destroyed quickly and silently by there Inquisitors and the feared Templar's. The Order speaks of the second coming of a long dead god and ban the usage of Materia to all those but the "purest" members of there ranks. As the Order grows in power the lifeblood of the people is lost and hope begins to die. Although The Order rules supreme there are those with the courage to stand up to them. A dissipate and highly secretive group of rebels called Salverus fight a dire battle against what seems an insurmountable foe. Petros 9 Report post Posted September 6, 2009 Okay then. I've come up with a few names that you can use or not use if you choose not to for your female protagonist if you wish: LEAL Meaning: Faithful Origin: French MIMI Meaning: Faithful Guard Origin: French FIDELLA Meaning: Faithful to God Origin: Latin CEANA Meaning: God is Gracious Origin: Gaelic JEANETTE Meaning: God is Gracious Origin: Celtic My personal favourite and recommendation is Ceana, it's unusual and it stands out from the crowd, where names like Fidella, sound too wierd, and Jeanette sounds too normal. Jacen 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) Made a long overdue major update that reflects many of the changes the game has gone through. The project is going through something of a design overhaul. I want to get rid of the suikoden concepts and have unique characters designs for the game so I have recruited an artist for just this. The story has also had some marked improvements and the Matreria is going and being replaced by a unique "Essence" system. FranklinX 37 Report post Posted February 9, 2011 Hello! Welcome back to the forums. Let me offer you a bit of criticism. I don't think your game should be named Final Fantasy. The game only has one original character and that is Mog. Anyone who uses the RPG Maker can technically name their game Final Fantasy because it has the basic elements of magic, party, evil, good, rpg, etc. However, I do like your mapping. Another added bonus is that you are using a good battle system.

Anyone who uses the RPG Maker can technically name their game Final Fantasy because it has the basic elements of magic, party, evil, good, rpg, etc. However, I do like your mapping. Another added bonus is that you are using a good battle system. Indeed, final fantasy does have original characters and storylines with each new instalment and mine is no exception. However to say that anyone can call there RMG Maker game Final Fantasy is grossly inaccurate. Final Fantasy's share many thematic elements beyond the simple aesthetics of choccobos and moogles. A focus on character driven and engaging story lines that often feature the environment being threatened are common themes in each title, as well as dozens of other themese that make the series what it is. Werther you like FF or not it is the most prominent JRPG series ever made and therefore many of its elements have been replicated in our titles over the years creating a genre that has amalgamated much of final fantasy's core. I can see where you are coming from by saying that other JRPGs are similar in that sense. That's my opinion anyways. Thanks, I am trying really hard to make the mapping look half decent, even if it just using the RTP style.

There are Final Fantasy games without choccobos and moogles. The RPG Maker's installed program has all of the tools of a Final Fantasy game. The program contains elements, monsters, and a party. That's all that is needed.
Jacen 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2011 Could that not say that elemnts monsters and a party are all that are needed to make any roleplaying-game? Breath of fire? Suikoden? heck pokemon? Final Fantasy has elements beyond how it looks and I am not sure you understand that. If you dont like them then you will not like a game trying to replicate there core idea.
