Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Recommended Posts

Okay, as many of you know, Dissidia was released tuesday. This isonly a partial review, as I have only scratched the surface of this game.

Now, let's get down to brass tax:

Graphics: 10/10

Quite stunning, to say the least, for a handheld. The CGIs, as well as the in-battle graphics are designed rather well. Each character's rendering is exactly as it was in the games themselves, right down to Squall's scar. Hands down, it is one of the best PSP games graphic wise.

Audio: 10/10

Music from every FF title that is present in this game, as well as the voice-overs is great. Although they couldn't get the usual characters who do the voices for Jecht, Tidus, Cloud, etc; they found people who sound very familiar.

Gameplay: 9.5/10

Gameplay is as follows: You start with each charater at level 1, a handful of skills, and no equipment. After that, you start leveling characters, earning gil, and the such. I don't want to give it all away, but after time, more equipment becomes availible, more accessories, and even summons. Further, there is a 'Bonus' day you are asked to set, and on that day, you gain 1.5x the experience, bonuses to gil, AP and PP. Not to mention 10% off items in-store.

Playability: 10/10

Simply put, each 'chapter' in this game is fully replayable at any time. With the amount of equipments you can get, the summons, the unlockables, etc; you will find yourself playing this game for hours. I've have played it for 6 days straight and have racked up around 25 hours of gametime. I found this game very addicting, and I can assure you will spend many hours working on this title.

Overall: 9.9/10

GI gave this title a 6.5 because 'It is a fan-game for nerds who want to pit their favorite characters against eachother in hypothetical battles.' Something to bear in mind is the fact that they gave Super Smash Brothers: Brawl a 9.0. This makes them hypocrites (a subject for another day) and I found their review sub-standard at best. I give it a 9.9. Now, I may be a fan of a couple of the games, but I approached this with a skeptic's eye, as I hated all additions to Final Fantasy 7, including Advent Children. I highly reccommend this title for the PSP.

Really? horrible? So far I have only seen good reviews. heck, at Game Faqs review section, only 1 person so far has given it a 'bad' review. And on CA, one guy just started a thread complimenting on its addictiveness. Personally, I find it difficult to put down. Hell, only reason I'm on right now is to talk to wyz. xD

Do you mean modding it? I can do it with this PSP, I just don't want to take the chances. I can't afford systems and stuff....

I modded mine, didn't cost a dime. Only thing it will cost you is getting to the PSN. Of course, if you also folly it in some way, it could cost your PSP unless you know someone who can unbrick it, with a Pandora Bat and MMS. I think it is worth it, cuts the load time of Dissidia to nil. (it even tops the data install).

Anyway, that is another thing i forgot to mention. The load time of Dissidia sucks.

I'm depressed. Everyone could afford it but me!

*tears*

At least my grandmama took pity on my poor soul and got it for me....

Poor Crimson... v.v; Now i feel bad for making this thread! I just wish it had full-blown internet instead of Ad Hoc. Ah well. I have 2 psps and 1 can play ISOs, so yeah... I can do all that fun stuff by myself, bu tI am so alone... o.o

Anyway, If you want a good challenge upon recieving this game, get Firion up to level 50. When you start mastering his skills, you'll see the force he holds.

Dissidia has been one of those very few games I've kept a steady eye on since infomation was first leaked about such a title early last year.

For a crossover-based game, i think the execution of the characters and their relationships towards others is executed impeccably. Not once could I ever imagine Bartz stepping out in front of Ultimecia during a conversation with Mateus, not only that, but it was an excuse to develop characters who, previously had little or no character background. I think Warrior of Light, Firion and Onion Knight were the best examples of this. The behaviour of the characters were paralell to their behaviour from the titles they came from, although one small notch that I realised, was that Ultimecia lacked her accent on her 'C's (So in the instance she would usually say Kurse those SeeDs, it would be Curse those SeeDs, in Dissidia. Not like she actually says that at any point, but simply an example.)

My brother just got this game a few days ago. With all the screaming and yelling I hear from him in the other room I can tell it's a pretty intense experience. I always liked Cecil, so I'll probably start with that character when I start playing.

My copy should arrive around September 1-3. Amazon sucks, so soon I'll be able to judge the game myself.

Hopefully in the future, I can afford a PS3 to play some of the awesome games it has :)

When I get a PSP this will be one of the first games I buy. It looks really good. I hope they will make more in the future.

I concur. This is the only example I've seen so far that Square-enix cares for its oldies:- especially Final Fantasy V, which I'm still hoping they'll push out a 3D remake for.

They need to remake Final Fantasy 6! That is by far the best in my opinion. Kefka was one bad mother #$@%#%!

^ I love you, Rated. FFVI is by far the best, but V is my second fav and than IV and III. :)

I hope they remake those two games for both DS and Playstation 3. That would be classic!

Heh heh,, whoever says that Kefka isn't one of the greatest villains of all time (Sephiroth is good, but when Kefka says he'll destroy the world....he actually friggin does it. the god-like powers help, too. Not to mention that weird laugh he has.) is a Spoony Bard. Kefka is on my top 10 favorite game villains, right next to Jack of Blades.

...........................I can take him, though. Bring it on.

I got Dissidia a while ago well months ago and today I just picked my PSP and saw my save title.....I was disgusted.....honestly. I had spent 354 hours on that thing! I played it and then I found out why, I liked seeing 2-D Chars in 3-D. The game rocks honestly, whoever doesn't get or doesn't have I say "AHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH :P"

By the way I've always wondered what actually made FF VII the so called "Greatest Game of all time"? Cause for one:

If you want graphics play FF VIII or FF IX for Ps1

If you want a story play FF IV or FF VI

If you want badass villains play FF VI

so in my view FF VII is just another game except the hero has spiky hair so......Okay

Every game is cliche in some form or another...just like every one you listed is cliche; a cheap copy of the first fantasy novel brought to life by interactive media. And no I'm not one who really cares about if a game is cliche; just pointing out that every game has an aspect of being cliche.

the thing about Dissida that bug me is the fact that people who never knew how to play these kinds of action-styled games literally can't win

favorite char is Onion Knight (To me he's the small kid of awsomeness) because his combos are good, and when you really level him up, he know how to own those bad guys!

Trust me!

Stories completed: I,II,III

Advice:

1) Start with Warrior of Light, because his HP attack is good to start with...

2) Firion is aboit complicated because his HP attacks aren't too accurate: his brave attacks are better from the ground than the air, when in doubt, go into the air and use Fire!

3) Onion Knight is a class changer when in EX mode: if you like ninjitsu HP attack: Blade torrent, etc... Spellbook HP attack: Comet, Firaga, etc... Onion knight learns new things later on, but he's not too powerful with brave attacks

All i completed so far! More coming soon!

I don't usually play these types of games and I do quite well in it. What can I say gaming must be in my blood.

Lol you'll be suprised when you hear me say this

I've maxed them all.....I mean it all of them.

Though Onion Knight is good and when the demo came out I like him the most but I kinda like Tidus. His moves are more unique cause he can dodge and hit all in one move! By the way I also found out that if you really learn how to use Jecht, He is baddass bravery killer.

stories completed: All.....maybe sad but its addictive! ;)

Oh yeah btw I hate Kefka

Is a kick ass game but lack of WI-FI makes me sad.

I recommend not playing the game alone after Finishing the game...

But is a nice looking game and so addicting you can't even sleep (In my case)

Awesome battle system but I like more the traditional gameplay (The old school FF games)

The storyline is pretty good

My score

9.5

My favorite is Bartz. He is balanced, and I love using others peoples' attacks against them. If only you could choose which skills you can use of other charas...

You know bartz is also my favorite character

and I like firon too

and well the bad guys is obviously Golbez because of his attacks, especially when he's on EX-mode that "Black fang" attack is pretty useful but painful if is used against you

and the garland he's tough and good range attacker but kinda slow :P
