Polraudio 122 Report post Posted September 2, 2009 Ok i have a serious problem. I have lots of papers that need to be done and they need to be at least a page and im not the kind of person that can go that long. The problem is i make it short and straight to the point. I don't know how else to make things longer. I need help on how to get things longer and sort of away from the main point, If anyone can help me with this they will be helping me further my education in college and helping me pass. CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted September 2, 2009 Well, what's the paper about? If its something related to history or science, try to explain what that said thing is and how it works. SO basically, if the teacher told you to write a page paper on the difference betweeen a castle and a house, you give examples. Like, a castle is very tall and is guarded by men in armor while a house is small and has small windows... Something like that, but nothing like this: "Castles are tall and way better. Houses are small and are more dainty." That's one way of making your paper longer :) (I could write it for ya if its something I know about....and if you won't tell lol)

Maulth 2 Report post Posted September 3, 2009 I know you've already gotten this mainly solved, but I'll throw in my 2 cents as I write quite frequently. I am not entirely sure, or it was not displayed clearly enough to me, what the subject of your write must be, but I'll give you a few pointers to help your paper(s) seem a bit longer, as well as up the quality in them. A decent vocabulary is a good start, although, it's not exactly something you need. If you find yourself repeating words, don't worry most people do, then try to use an online tool such as rhymezone. It's a very useful tool that will give you many simile's, synonyms, antonyms, etc... I can imagine as an instructor that it would become infuriatingly boring to read what seems like hundreds of the same papers over and over again. Change up your grammar and vocabulary a bit, that will always help. Secondly, use enough descriptive words to vary your sentence length (simple and short sentences, compound sentences, etc..) but don't go overboard and make what should be a paragraph, into a sentence. Instructors, I have found, like variation, and it will usually reflect on your grade. If you take a bit of time to describe an action of a person, or describe their appearance, or even describe a thought process, it will go a long way towards making your papers a bit lengthier, and your grade a bit beefier. Hope this helped!

Tosharu 1 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 m I have some useful advice. Last year I finished my English 12. My english 12 teacher was one of the BEST academic role models I ever had. A good thing to review is your sentence structure, and paragraph structure. Me and my english teacher did tons of essay writing practice and exercise, and she taught me how to format my paragraphs so they weren't overly repetitive. You should start with a topic paragraph. Briefly skim the topic, and give some basic information. The next paragraph should be an entry paragraph, the beggining of the topic, the goal of which being to give one point. And expand on it. The one after that should be your second point. The third one, your third point and your third paragraph needs to transition to your summary paragraph smoothly. Your summary paragraph should re state everything you've written in point form and remind the reader of the topics you covered, while summarizing for them, the generality behind your main topic, of which you've expanded on. And, a general rule of them is to make your paragraphs very convincing. Use a rich vocabulary, and your sentence structure should be one that draws the reader in, progressively so that by the time they are reading the second paragraph, you have them hooked on your writing. ^^ Hopefully that helps.
