Yup, RPG Maker is heading back to the console zone. I'm pretty sure this baby is called RPG Maker Tool DS, but I'm not sure.

Anyways, regardless of how much this sucks, I'm getting it. :P

Here are some screen cappies:

It appears to be quite similar to RMVX.. ;( Another thing is, how on earth to we share games? >,< Is it going to be possible to use wireless connection to send HUGE files (at least for the DS) Or how will there will be room for a good game, or a good system. To have a good game, you gotta have a good maker, which takes up space, that the good game would have needed. Gaaaaaaaah!!

What do you guys think?

Wow is all i can say. But where's the scripting? No RPG Maker is good without the scripting. Its like living without air.

Even more lol!

Nintendo DS, or Dual Screen.

Nisage, go to the mall or go out with some friends some time. You might be helping out RMXP users a little too much.

maybe they'll let you use a computer to make the game and you can share them through soem kind of site like you would regularly. looks cool, though.

I'm sorry Ditherless, but it seems as if you are trying to start a flame war. This kinda' stuff is what get's you banned on other sites, but RMXPU happens to be a go-with-the-flow kind of site.

Please don't post stuff like that, whether your inner fanboy is escaping, you just don't like the system, or you're trying to convince us something. Talking like this will just get you no where. Please consider these things and try to not do em'; you don't need to reply to this post to defend yourself either. That would be a waste of time. And for the record, saying "everything blahblah sucks or is awesome", is quite an oblivious statement.

And believe it or not, you can also hurt some people's feelings. :(

darkcieran, it appears as if you might be able to share games through wifi. I don't know for sure though.

So this is like creating DS games? That's cool!

the bad thing about it is, it's way to VX ( sorry to all VX fans, but i prefer XP) :)

Not to mention it's in japanese LOL

Yeah, they took way to much from VX, but there is still some original tiles. Also there is a crap load of music so yeah. You'll never run out of tunes. This is required though considering there will probably be no other way to get music..

It wont happen like that. The topic will be closed before anything bad starts.

If i owned a DS i might get this but im not to big of a fan of the DS.

Might be through wifi for sharing.

No I wasn't trying to start anything. I like the DS, it's just every game I've played for the DS that was a remake sucked compared to the original, and most games for the DS are remakes, sequels, or spin-offs. Except AC:WW, only good one in my eyes, but that's getting off-topic so I'll just stop.

I personally think that this thing probably won't be too good, considering that enterbrain co. is full of lazy heads. ;(

Hey!

Don't dis RM2k3 man

if you can event on that you can almost do everything u can do with scripting

Also, I'm not convinced heres why

Pros:

DS: Portable Gaming System

Wifi Capable

Touch screen; intuitive programing easier data entry; also allows for game with touch screen

Cons:

Importing?

Uploading Games?

Scripting?

Emulation on computer not likely

How will games be saved, on SD cards

Possibility for low memory

Lack of resource makers, mainly because no resource makers have been developed for DS, cause their was no need for it O.0

How can you commercialize games(if the thought crosses your head)

Text input will be a B*&th, regardless of touch screen

Possibility of Lack of Support, both technical and community based

Furthermore, I want a new Rpg Maker for Computer, you know one that combines all the good stuff of VX and XP and allows usage of both scripting systems, for backward comparability

Console based Rpg Makers don't Gross very well, and if thats the case how am I gonna even get a chance yo use it.

Idea interesting...

But there are some problems:

1) There is only a Japanese version, and the good few from us does not understand the Japanese in general. The English version would make - and that would be good.

2) Few standard resources, and are taken they with RMVX (WELL I DO NOT LOVE RESOURCES RMVX  ).

3) There is no editor of scripts... To it, certainly it is possible to get used, especially if you worked with RM2003 earlier.

But looks vigorously enough. If to consider that DS possesses functions touch-screen and an exit in WiFi something can turn out interesting...

Well Ageckuu, we don't actually know for sure that there is no scripting system. There probably won't be one though. *sigh*

And what exactly do you mean by "working with RM2003"?

You said this:

And I don't understand it. :<

No scripting according to this site: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.famitsu.com%2Fgame%2Fcoming%2F1228528_1407.html

But I have never seen any Console version have that feature, plus they are always limited.

A novel idea, but if they wanted attention for a portable version of an RPG Maker, they should do something freeform like XP (3 layers, great graphics), VX's framerate and simplified scripting, and then put it on the PSP. THis way, you can use an 8 or 16 GB memory stick and that gives not only plenty of space, but you can use the pc via USB port to upload information such as pictures and music.

Plenty of space and so forth, but this still leaves one MAJOR drawback: No Keyboard. And nothing is worse than making an RPG game w/o a keyboard.

We don't know enough to make any criticism points though. Sadly...

That's a blind statement since their other console versions where not good at all and limited; yes one can argue that it's because it's on a console, but regardless even then just look at their computer versions. When they created RMXP they took features out found in RM2003, and they did it again with RMVX. Don't get me wrong RMXP and VX are nice and simple, but through their history of creating such software and always removing features from new RPG Makers it is clear that this DS will be just as limited as their previous console versions. The proof is in their history of making such software; taking steps back instead of going forward. After all imagine if Fire Fox created an update and you lost a lot of features you like? Like add-ons and themes.

This idea is washed down to me, I'd rather use the free software EasyRPG to convert my RPG2k/2k3/XP/VX/IGM games to a flash card onto DS. Hey, that supports scripting and all the features those makers provide, this doesn't.

It looks fun for beginners and children though i suppose.

You cannot port any of those systems games to a DS, even if you tried really hard. They would have to be re made entirely.

Beginners and children? What about people that just want to b creative on the road?

The interface is much much simpler than other makers, even moreso than VX.

And yes I can port those games to DS. Here is the proof:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=ES&hl=es&v=tzWUBZ-Qpxg

EasyRPG is an upcoming game making program inspired by Enterbrain's maker series. With EasyRPG you will be able to import your RPG Maker 2000/2003 projects and continue working on them with EasyRPG! While most of you may write it off as just another copycat the real treat is the EasyRPG Payer. The EasyRPG player allows you to play RPG Maker 2000/2003 games on a variety of platforms. By mimcing RPG Maker's RPG_RT.EXE your able to play just about any RPG Maker 2000/2003 game! EasyRPG is still in development which you can keep track of by clicking the links below. However the creators have released a development build of the EasyRPG Player and even ported it to the DS and PSP!

I'm not sure if I can link other RPG sites, so let me know if I can and I'll post the blogs and stuff if you need anymore proof. It IS possible to port RM games onto DS
