1. Isabella (Advance Wars: Days of Ruin) - I just like her...lol, her abilities are somewhat similar to Adder's and Grit's...characters that I use often in Dual Strike.

 

2. Quadraxis (Metroid Prime 2) - Come on...who DOESN'T like a giant four-legged robot for a boss battle? This thing rocks, and I love his music.

 

3. MetaKnight (kirby series) - Every Kirby fan knows him, he's just awesome...'nuff said.

 

4. Midna (LoZ: Twilight Princess) - Another one of my favorites, don't know why...but I just like her, interesting how her attitude changes throughout the game...

 

5. Vivian (Paper Mario 2: TTYD) - I like her powers, and I just like her...the way her sisters treated her just makes you want to go in there and beat the crap out of them. But Vivian joining your party in the middle of the game is even better.

 

6. Ike (Fire Emblem/Smash Bros. Brawl) - I think I should start getting into Fre Emblem, I haven't even touched the series...and yet Ike's one of my best characters in Brawl...funny eh? "Great...AETHER!!!" *slashes at his opponents and sends them skyrocketing* :P

1. Gordon Freeman

Although he never talks once in the entire series, this leaves him as a blank slate. A tabula rasa if you will. The character himself is not even anyone special, just a scientist put in an abnormal situation. Also, his relations with the people around him define the character's characteristics (which makes the surrounding characters even more interesting) but the real thing is for the player to decide what kind of person Freeman is. The real beautiful about him is that he is a character that allows the game to break the fourth wall, by being almost nonexistent the characters are almost talking to the player. This is gaming's character creation at its finest.

 

2. Mario

Mario is such a staple from gaming that he himself defines it. Although he is nothing more than the happy go lucky Italian plumber (who is a prime example of Japan's lack of sensitivity to the world as he IS the Italian stereotype).

 

3. Master Chief

If there were no Mario, there would only be the Master Chief. Halo has gotten some bashing recently, mainly because gamer's preference of the "trend" has now changed. This doesn't mean that Halo was bad, in fact it might have been one of the most influential and important games ever (atleast of the decade). The Master Chief is similar to Gordon Freeman because he doesn't speak throughout gameplay but he does speak during cinematics. When he does speak however, he speaks generally and plain with terrific voice acting. He is the pure explanation of the super soldier, in ways that gaming has never accurately created until Halo. Although later in the series the character and his relations has changed greatly, the core character is a great example of Gaming's standard.

 

4. Cloud Strife

I am not really in favor of my decision to put Cloud on the list like the rest of the posters here, but I did so because he is actually a well created character. Cloud seems as though to be the standard dark and overly Japo character in the beginning of Final Fantasy VII, but as the game progresses you see that he is not only human but very flawed. He lies to his friends and becomes what he wants to through means of which that I think are pretty grim. He is a character that is real, and moreover emotionally weird. This is Cloud from the original game, because he was not the same character in Advent Children and I am not even acknowledging crisis core.

 

5. The Sims

Why? Because the Sims are whoever the hell you want them to be. Literally, you can make a person who is a kleptomaniac who in a mature rated title would shoot up a school, or a popular teenager who in turn would get shot by the kleptomaniac. This is a easy idea, to just make a person but in practice the life sim is the ultimate game. You can make any life you want, any town you want, anything you want it can be done. This is why the Sims makes the list, because you and your creative mind could probably make a better character than half of the bland protagonists that are out there today.

1. Minato Arisato - Persona 3/Persona 3 FES/ P3P

 

 

He's your silent protragonist with a difference. His adventures took place between 2009- 2010 (Thats pretty relevant right?) And on top of that, he's a high schooler. And I'm literally nearly the same age as him (probably a bit older, but not far apart. Makes me realize what a nerdy fangirl I am.) Whats more, he has a sexy haircut, emoish blue hair (But I dare you, if you refer his personality in that way I'll summon my persona on you) and he shoots himself to bring out a badass of death to crush shadows. He's like a modern, real-life Vegeta (Without that lame hair) D:

 

2. Faris Scherwiz - FFV

 

 

 

I just like her for having purple hair an awesome outfit, and starring in an awesome game. Screw amano's depiction of her.

 

3. Naoto Shirogane - Persona 4

 

 

 

 

Another P-series one, but its too important for me to care D:. Naoto is one of those girls that other girls can nosebleed over because of her infeminity. Your standard-type trap type character, thats interested in detective novels and fiction the sort.
