Make a fan game!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Today I'd like to ask you, if you could make any fan-game you wanted, which would it be?

I want to create a new poll on the website to find out which fan-games members and passers-by want to create the most. Make sense? For example, bleach, DBZ, Final Fantasy(whatever that is), etc.

One-word/title posts are allowed in this topic, but give me as many as you want. Oh, and can anyone guess why we want to put up this poll?

If it were entirely possible; Command and Conquer :D . But since you have a 0.000001% possibility of making an RTS game on RPG Maker then I would have to say Kindgom Hearts :D .

I once tried to make a Smash Brothers RPG years ago. If I could find all the resources again, I think I'd like to take a whack at that again at some point.

I would kill for a decent Mana fangame. Forget the 3D generation stuff, translating those worlds into something RM can handle will wind up into something even the most hardcore series fan would think twice about touching. The Mana series (Legend of/Secret of/Sword of/Heroes of) would translate into RM format a whole lot easier.

For me, it would be Ranma 1/2( has anyone ever watched that anime?)

or even Persona!

I could totally do it too with all the proper resources.

I'd try for an Atelier game. It can be done without jumping, but would require a ton of work for a synthesis script, getting character sprites of Mana and all different types of characters, and... a ton of other kinds of work. X_X

But ya, if I had all of that, I'd try for something close to Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana.

Actually Marked, there have been a ton of Dragonball Z Games. There used to be a site for them (www.picceta.com), but it recently closed. The most famous one is an Rm2k3 DBZ game called Dragonball Z Remix Unloaded, just Google it.

I'm surprised Naruto hasn't popped up yet.

Screw Naruto. Kidding ^^

Fangames I'd like to make would be Breath of Fire, Shadow Hearts or Final Fantasy. (Infact a 'remake' of the shadow hearts prequel, Koudelka would be very possible since i have all the RPGXP sprites already and the fact that its a very short game. The only issue would be the grid battle system, but it could easily be rectified by a sideview system.)

But honestly, I'm not going to do any of the sort for a long, long time to come. I want my orginals out there first.

i'd make a fan game for the best underrated rpg on the NES Magic of Scheherazade. revolutionary for that time period.

I would really love to make a Mario game. There are some Mario fan games made by using the RPG Maker.

Are we talking about FanGames? or about Remakes?

Because there's a pretty big difference.

Remake?...in RPG Maker? mmmm... not so much. I'd be afraid that playing a crappy version of FF Tactics would ruin the original game for me.

A FanGame, however, is completely different.

In a FanGame, you can take, say Ivalice as it is in FFT, and expand upon it.

Create a new Faction/Guild/Group of adventurers whose efforts are equally effected by the main story of FFT as are the characters' from FFT.

( I only cite all of this as an example, of course).

A Remake, you'd eventually run into a system you'll need to implement that doesn't quite work well with RPG Maker...

Also, "copying"(if you will) isn't very enthralling, IMO.

That is to say...if I'm not the one thinking of the ideas(if I'm following another game's plot/format/etc), it would be very easy for me to get bored with what I'm doing...

A creative mind needs to be creative.

;)

Same...also, I didn't see this mentioned yet:

An Elder Scrolls fangame ohmy.gif

I love The Elder Scrolls series...would love to see a decent fangame made out of it.

Hmm.... all you would really need for that is just an extremely large game world, extremely large equipment database, an intricate crafting system, and VARIABLES...

LOTS AND LOTS OF VARIABLES!

If I were to make a fan game (which I wouldn't), it would definitely be Chrono Trigger.
