First of all, I want to say that I have noticed this, not for the past week, but for the entire month and part of September.

It seems as though the community aspect of RMXP Unlimited is Diminishing

There are lot of topics that only consist of one post and even the spam board and cafe are nearly empty

There is never more than one person at a time in the chat room, even on weekends

The exception to this are Support Topics

but it seems that people just come on, get help, and then leave until they need more help

There's no disccusion or anything

Its quite discouraging

There could be several things causing the slower activity. People could be losing interest in using RMXP or RMVX, and so have lost interest in the forums as a whole (despite the fact that there are other things here as well.) I know a lot of the scripts and tutorials I've read, not just on this site but other forums as well, were posted years ago by people who no longer use the programs, or go on the site. So I think a lot of it is a loss of interest in RMXP.

And generally speaking, a lot of people might be busy with school/college/work and find they don't have time for the program, and so don't have time for the forum. This especially seems to be a big factor since you mentioned it's been this month and part of September. That's when school goes back in, most colleges/universities, etc. The summer is over, and a lot of sites slow down this time of year.

All sites/forums go through a slow period, so I don't think it's that the site is dead. It just needs a new wave of people who are genuinely interested in becoming a part of the forum, and not just posting for help and never coming on.

I know with me personally, I feel nervous starting topics on any forum of any kind, so I usually just post in other people's topics. Like now. :P Maybe there are others who feel the same way too.

There are always gonna be ups and downs of forums. As previously stated school right now is a big issues. A lot of colleges and stuff are going through midterms.

I get on and stay on as long as I can :(

I think we need to encourage new members more in threads...

As an admin I'm too concerned just yet. Building on from synchronicity's post, looking at the hall of fame, there were 36 members who made posts in the last 7 days, which isn't too bad. I think the staff should focus a little bit on retaining members, and we've made some steps already towards that. For example:

Latest Requests.JPG

I am working on this before making is viewable to everyone. It will basically allow members who need help or scripts/resources to get more attention to their topics. Once the topic is complete, a mod will edit the topic description and that will remove it from the list. So what we're hoping this does is retain new members by getting more attention to their topics.

Anyway, Mr highest-post-per-day seems to be too busy for us these days

Maybe it would help also if new members who are basically just signing up for an account to have access to certain resources were more motivated to post. Initially I only joined the site to access some thing or other, no idea what now as it's been a few days, but still. The forum has new members on a daily basis that join and don't post - so maybe if there was a post requirement to access certain areas it might help too. The forum is still getting traffic, just not contributors.

Or we could just wait it out :P I mean, it's not dead here at the moment so there's no rush, but definitely something to keep in mind. People don't spend much time anymore checking out forums beyond what they need - in this case, tutorials, scripts, support, resources.

Like the speed of the site.

What browser are you using? Because I'm using FireFox and I have no graphics card, literally, and it works great on my PC....and its really, really old xD

I was a lurker last year! And the year before, and the year before that, too! ='D

Anyways, incentive on drawing and keeping new members seems to be the key. Award for completing RMXP games? ='D Can't hurt, considering I hear not many of us complete RMXP games. <--That requires a sadface.

The issue with a post requirement is that it gives members an incentive to spam to get to what they want. For example we made a 10 post requirement to access the Downloads Manager, and the next day there were members who necro-posted one-liners and disappeared after they had reached exactly 10 posts. I made it as easy as possible for guests to access as much as they like so not so many people would register. Most of the content on the site is open to guests, all except the downloads manager and script downloads in the archives.

I think its the frontpage, rmxpunlimited.net/. For me, that is really slow sometimes. Since I coded most of it, I may be able to fix it up :sweatdrop: For me, the forums are quick.

That's true, there would be an increase of spam - and not in the section meant for spam either :/ So a post requirement would be no good unless we wanted all hell to break loose. Hmmm.

I don't really want it to die by itself, I'd much rather go out on a high. But we'll see what happens. I'm much more organized these days and I'm even active with 1 week until my finals, which hasnt happened since I started it  Actually I had my first ever school exams the first year I started the site. We're old. But yeah, I'm not too concerned with activity, perhaps not as much as I should be. I want people making games and to help members with their games... These days, I'd much rather take suggestions from members and let it evolve.

No. Everything about this site is slow. Forums and the homepage. 5-14 seconds is way too long for a page to load

I have never had any problems with the site loading slow anywhere. I have also been on some pretty bad computers. Or have used my PS3 to access the site and it still loads fast.

When it takes a minute to load.

The site loads instantly for me. (That's how fast.)
