Important parts of Story telling and plot

Telling a story can be done by anyone who can put a word after another, but what truly sets the bards apart from the explainers is the magic of the story, and the art of involving the reader or witness. Sometimes a story can truly captivate a person in ways that leave them changed, making them think of it much later on. I would like to one day become the creator of such a story.
