I was assaulted on campus

Recommended Posts

On March the 3 I was assaulted on campus. It all started in my sexualities class. My teacher was talking about how homosexuals try to live passable as heterosexuals. She then made the comment that people cannot try to pass as another race. I made a joke that I pass as another race everyday. My joke offended a young black man. He said that "I am a nigger, I need to learn how to be a nigger, I was always be a nigger. I was offended so I called him a bitch. The worst thing is the teacher never heard this, but other students did. After I called this guy a bitch, he left outside of the classroom. I stayed in class to finish the course. After I left class this guy randomly jumps me in the hall. He pushed and slammed me on the bathroom door, and on the floor. The student walked away, but turned around to tell me to go outside. The school is taking action against this student. I have filed a warrant.

This assault happen near my job on campus. I've been too embarrassed and humiliated to go to work. At other times I am depressed.

I'm individual. I don't live up to any stereotypes. I do things that I enjoy, not because of what society thinks I should like. From what I have experienced in the young black culture is that I am not very acceptable. I'm not attacked to black women. I like white chicks. I don't like rape, hip hop, and R&B, etc. I mostly listen to rock. I don't dress like stereotypical black males. The only thing I have in common with young black men is sports. However, some young black people see me as a "sell out", "self-hater", "uncle tom", etc. Personally I don't like the young black culture. It just isn't who I am as a person. I met the president of the African American society on campus last year. He didn't seem too welcoming towards me.

By not living into this culture I have sacrificed my black masculinity. In the young black community I am referred to as a boy. While else where I am treated and referred to as sir or man. My life style is very unattractive to black women, but since I'm not attracted to them it does not bother me.

Agreed, but I don't think this was about race, sounds like he did it because franklin called him a bitch.

I'm sure he'll get what he deserves from campus authorities or whoever you filed the warrant with.

You know where I stand on these types of topics and I told you not to make them because it causes trouble (sadly). But we'll see how this one goes.

Hopefully, things will get sorted. Don't worry about what other people think about the way you are; the only person who has the right to say anything about you is yourself. Don't let it get you down, we will support you here ^_^

I would sue that person to bankruptcy. I hate racist people, they don't deserve to live.

This has nothing to do with him being racist. He is also black. It is explained in my last paragraphs. This is a culture problem. Me calling him a bitch did not start it Marked. Him and many other young blacks have an issue with my lifestyle. Campus authorizes and the police are both going to handle it.

Where are you from, because where I'm at, the majority of black act the stereotyphic but we always other races, for some reason

Yeah, that is messed up, in fact that could almost be called genelism, because they are hahting you because of your traits, which are in your genes.

I would first like to say that I have a ton of respect for you for being yourself regardless of what other people think. I myself dislike what you refer to as "young black culture", not because of the black part (most of the kids in my town are just white kids who watch too many rap videos), but because of the way that it encouradges people to disrepect others and increases the amount of stereotypes out there. I know alot of nice, respectful black people, and alot of white kids who walk around town swearing at their elders and doing hard drugs because they're trying to be "black". this needs to stop being about race and start being about respect to our fellow man. Stay true to who you are, and there will always be people who respect you for that.

I was referring to Genelism, a real form of racism. It depicts people disliking or being racist to people because of their traits, or genes. A good example would be someone not hiring you because you are prone to seizures.

your human, thats all that should matter.

You should also be careful when you say stuff like that, but i dont see how that could be offending.

and be happy, if you make sure that something is done about that guy, and just live your life like it never happened, than it wont happen again.

I'm Interested in where this happened, cause personally I feel that you and I are quite similar. That we are individuals and don't identify with a race.

In Houston, however theres a ton of diversity so people tend not to care who you hang out with.

Also, the comment cannot pass as another race kind of annoys me, simply because saying people act a certain way is racist. Hell, living in Texas for so long, I sometimes think in Spanish, talk in slang, and use the word dude. I like rap, old school hip hop , and classical, and regatone, bachata, and rock. And it isn't an act.

You should correct her on that D: !

It might be the community over where you are at, not as a whole

That dude needs to relax. Besides, aren't you black too? So it voids the whole race thing.

Don't be depressed over this either. I've learned to not let people make me feel horrible. So just forget about this whole thing and go on with your life.

woah, sorry to hear this Franklin :( Must be hard/ awkward if that's going on and how you feel

All you can do is be yourself and ignore others who don't like it, my friend dreses and does what he feels, so do most of my friends for that matter. Don't feel embarressed about what happened, you shouldn't, you have no need to (i know this is far easier said then done). Also, is this guy who jumped you in all your clases? if he isn't, then just don't even talk to him or reply to him the classes he's in with you.

Man, im sorry you are victim of a hate-crime. Any kind of prejudice is just unsightly. Im glad you are bein' yourself. Just like i'm a country boy 'hillbilly' who loves rock and electronics. I kinda feel your pain. Even my own folks think i lost touch with 'family ties'

Cause this is America and a country boy is good enough for me, son."

I live by this.

Dude, you did not deserve the whole attack thing, but i'd like to cover a few things...

1.) never joke about someone's race... just dont do it. you can have fun to extents but no... never passed a simple line.

2.) in your 3rd section of your 1st post... you state that you dont have anything in common besides sports, and you gave examples previously to that

THATS STEREOTYPING... not all black male play sports, we do not all like rap, we do not all like RnB...

-sigh-

dude, simple as that, you AND that guy need that class -.-

(this is why i have lost faith in humanity as a whole...)

To Zane,

I never said anything bad about any race. I simiply said I can live as any race if I wanted to. How is that insulting?

I did not stereotype anyone. I was speaking from experience. Stereotyping someone occurs before you get to know them.
