RPG maker VX tries to activate forever

Question

hello everyone. im new to the forum and i came here looking for some help to an odd problem.

i bought rpg maker VX, installed, and am ready to activate my copy. however, when i try to activate it just doesnt do anything. it stays on the "connecting to the activation server" until i decide to exit.

now i have already tried a number of things from this forum and on the internet but nothing seems to work. ive tried:

- run as admin

- disable firewall

- disable anti virus

- run in different compatibility modes

none of these things solves the problem. i read somewhere i should try to use a proxy server, but i have no idea how those work.

does anyone have anything they can suggest to me?

It could be the key that's the problem.

i guess i can check that out, but shouldn't it give me an error if something i input wasn't right?

it seems more like the request to activate isn't making it to their server, or it isn't making it back, which is odd because nothing else ive ever had to activate has had a problem. and this sucks to because i spent 70$

What type of internet connection are you using? I've never had this issue before.

This situation is very odd. It is best you contact Enterbrain about this problem. I'm thinking Enterbrain is having problems on their end.

Depending on the type of server enterbrain uses, if you input the wrong code it could just be trying it over and over.

Like if you try to connect to an IP that doesn't have port 22 open. It will say connecting... for years. lol

I'd say reinstall VX and then contact enterbrain and ask them to delete the current key and give you a new one.

Actualy I had a simular problem this week with Vx.

My Vx Was paid for a year ago.But suddenly the Trial Page popped up

I contacted Enterbian and bitched them out and the fixed the problem once they checked everything...

they didnt tell me what was wrong they just fixed it and didnt say anything afterward.

I thought maybe it had something to do with their new Package thing but I couldnt think of a single way that Could effect my Vx.

From what I know their new package is just more Stuff with a samurai theme you know battlers animations Basic image stuff.

alright, well they sent me a reply with a "turn off your firewall ect." but that isnt the problem.

what i think may be the problem, is my router. could there be anything that my router is doing preventing my VX from activating? i believe this might be the case because my laptop also does the same exact thing.

I don't think your route could be the problem...I think I know.

Where have you installed the program at? Please list the Computer directory URL pointing to the install folder :)

Soooo what's the fix? Thousands of people Googling this exact same problem have yet to find a single solution. Enterbrain support is no help, said they don't have any solutions even though half of their customers have the same problem.

The router could be the issue. I know there are a few routers have a lot of problems when it comes to DNS. It could also be your ISP redirecting requests from your pc to their website. You could try telnetting on port 22 to their website just to see if it responds which will check the ISP, Router, and Firewall, and we can narrow it down from there. I didnt have any troubles validating mine, but I dont own VX (only tried the trial) just XP, and dont recall if Port 22 was the correct port to check connetions with.
