FranklinX 37 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Am I the only person who dislike Disney movies? When I was a child the movies were shown in Elementary school. I hated those days at school. Disney movies bore me to death. I really hated Aladdin with a passion. Don't get me started on Toy Story. I've never been a fan of children movies.
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 I liked them then and now; to each their own.

kellessdee 48 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 disney as a company? Yes I generally dislike them, and generally dislike their movies. However the classic animations like Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty (yes very artistic movie), Lion King, Aladdin, etc. Are all very well done children's animations imo. Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Well technically the Toy Story series was made by Pixar. [Yes I know Disney bought Pixar, but that doesn't mean jack.] And frankly, I think someone who labels it as a childrens movie is kinda' ignorant. They are absolutely amazing films. As for disney movies.. Meh. There are some good ones. As for the actual Walt Disney; I absolutely despise that man.
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) I absolutely despise that man. Now this is ignorant, how can you hate someone when you never met them? Edited June 24, 2011 by Noob Saibot

Marked 197 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 @Noob Saibot: You REALLY like to analyze what Kiriashi says, don't you? I wish I could think of a better example, but did you hate Osama Bin Laden? Anyway, the Lion King was a riot. So sad when Mufasa dies :( Stupid Scar, why u kill Mufasa :(
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 And frankly, I think someone who labels it as a childrens movie is kinda' ignorant. They are absolutely amazing films. I am not ignorant. The main target for these movies are children. Do adults go to these movies? Yes, there are some adults who attend these movies with their children or just for fun. However, the main targeted demographic are children.

CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 (edited) I dislike new Disney (Tangled was great), but the old films were great. Its the sense of family and good story that it had that made it good. Now every company wants to sell sex to our children, put perverted jokes into their TV problems, books, games and movies, and now even in their toys. If I still have my DVDs by the time I have children, that's what they will be watching. Lion King, Little Mermaid (:33), Winnie the Pooh, Lilo and Stitch, Mulan, Brother Bear, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, Tarzan, Hercules, James and the Giant Peach, Pocahontas and let's not forget Treasure Planet! That movie is absolutely great! :alright: So many good movies that had a good image to give. To answer the OP; yes, I don't like Disney, currently. I did like it in the past. :P Edited June 25, 2011 by CrimsonInferno

Each generation has it own standards about what is considered too sexual on film.
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Movies like Breakfast club isn't aimed at children, rather teenagers :P Its been visible in some kid movies, but it has increased vastly since the 90s.
Rose 3 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 I love cartoons always have. Aladdin, one of the best. Btw nothing is actualy made {for} any specific demographic. Its just edited with the genres typical audience in mind.for instance Disneys audience isnt children; its for adults. Subject matter in the lion king Murder Segregation Extermination Dictatorship These are common in movies; Specifically gory action flicks the musical element was meant to add a Shakespearean atmosphere.Dramaticizing the events on screen. And a perfect example of this is the hunchback of notre dame They did not erase all the Darkness needed but dulled it down so its not vulgar. The idea is to make art, they just prefer their art non-vulgar cause their main audience is children. The editing tries to make it something cartoon lovers will take, which happen to be children. Thus these themes are adult in nature but not blunt enough to suck the enjoyment out of the audience that happens to not understand those themes. Imagine actualy making something {for} children. Really youd end up with pokemon. No need to write extrodinarily well, recycle old plots, show some flashy pokemon designs build ups all simple. And yet even it is appealing to adults, regardless of nintendos love of children. yeah I went there lol
Blackbound 4 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Imagine actualy making something {for} children. Really youd end up with Barnie/Barbie. Fix'd because your only referring to the 4kids version of Pokemon (there have been entire episodes cut from that series)
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Pokemon isn't kiddy... nothing from Japan is. lol Our TV14 shows would be fit for their toddlers.
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted June 26, 2011 @Rose: Now and around the late 90s it has become aimed at older peoples, but before it was not. Death happens, you can't keep that from children. Children lose pets, family members, read history and learn about death. There is nothing really "adult" about death besides showing straight up murder, blood, gore, brains etc etc. For literature as you mentioned (Notre Dame) they had to change a lot because the older films were aimed at children, but it still needed an end phrase. Granted these movies aren't aimed at 2+ year old children (they have Tomas the Engine etc etc), but rather older children through 7-12, who know about death (a natural thing) and that through history, those things happen. There is no avoiding it, its impossible. Imagine actualy making something {for} children. Really youd end up with pokemon. Not really..This is only the case if you (the creator of the show/movie) are a lazy, uncreative person. And this generally wasn't what the companies then wanted. They had to create something new/fresh to pull in a better, bigger audience. Back in the 90s, they had many original children shows: Barney, Gullah-Gullah Island, Doug, Rugrats (a big one), All That (slightly older audience), Pepper Ann , Hey Arnold! (a great kid's show), DarkWing Duck, Magic school bus, Sesame Street, Chip 'N' Dale Rescue Rangers, A Pup Named Scooby Doo (Schooby Doo), and let's not forget Little Bear and Franklin! :P All of those (and more) were original and was strictly child (some of them a slighter older aim, 10-13) oriented. ShinyToyGuns 29 Report post Posted June 27, 2011 Disney has always added sex in their work dating back since the Breakfast Club. There isn't an increase in sex in movies. Sex has always been visible in movies. Each generation has it own standards about what is considered too sexual on film. For one, what the hell does The Breakfast Club have to do with Disney? That was a Universal Motion Pictures film...not Disney, so if you're gonna say that The Breakfast Club is Disney's work, then you obviously haven't seen it. Also, I'm with Crimson on this one. I enjoyed their old movies. Still do, as a matter of fact...but their new animated movies suck. I like some of their live action movies (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, etc.) though. :P

Once your in the puberty area of development your a young adult. though point takin I was raised on all of those.Including the animaniacs.Which believe it or not put in dirtier jokes so their adult viewers wouldnt get bored.I could prolly say the same about hey arnold.but whatever The aim is secondary to the art is all I mean by that. Joko 1 Report post Posted July 12, 2011 I personally see nothing wrong with disney movies probably because i personally grew up on alladin and lion king. these were two of my favorite movies as a child and i bet you rko if you had seen them outside of school in a more friendly environment were you could of actually enjoyed and been sucked into the movie you MIGHT of liked it a little more. What im not a fan of about disney (wether there intentional or not) is the subliminal messages, some of them seem pretty real but some of them seem wayyyyy to looked into. Every movie has a defining meaning behind it, most people never see it because they see only a movie. Plus most of their movies are geared toward following your dreams (like 90% of the meaning behind their movies) and it is not a fictional one as it is souly up to you.
