Dungeons of Eternity

The survivor RPG

 

Synopsis:

Dungeons of Eternity is a survivor RPG where you wander aimlessly through a HUGE labyrinth, attempting to survive solely off of the chests you find, each with random contents.

 

Features:

  • Disassemble and reassemble weapons.
  • Imbue weapons with the power of materials from monsters.
  • Create or modify weapons using materials.
  • Fully create your character, including importing your very own 128x192 sprite to play as.
  • As you progress, the monsters get harder and change based upon location and Dungeon Level.
Scripts:
  • Custom CMS
  • Cogwheel's RTAB
  • Fully custom Items, weapons, and armors
  • Completely customizable character creation and character building
Credits can be found in the title screen's credits section. If i forgot anyone... TELL ME.

When I get the screen where you choose your skills (like medicine, or sword-making), I can assign 2 of the 3 skill points. When I press C, it does nothing (in fact it makes the sound when you're outta skill points ie doing something you cant do).

 

That made sense right? Have I missed something? I fiddled with it for like 2 minutes to no avail :unsure:

This game may have good potential. When did you make this? You should make a Youtube channel to promote your work.

First of all wow :drool: this game has some really unique features. Beyond that some of the adrenaline pumping really made it feel like a survival game. Anywho on with the review:

Pros:

1. Random Everything!, chests, maps, dig spots, and ect are like all random it adds some unique playing.

2. Enmities Level Up- The enemies level up with you or sometimes are ahead of you or below, but either way it adds difficulty.

3. Good Maps, and Game play- No mapping errors as far as I can tell and generally smooth game play.

4. Stats and Skills- A bunch of different skills to pick from and the ability for you to both pick your stats and skills is awesome.

5. The ability to choose your character or import one is awesome.

Cons:

1. Appears to be little or no story.

2. While randomness is awesome it can also mean sometimes it might be easier or sometimes the game could completely mess you over.

3. Sometimes the battling felt repetitive and I felt left out because I was never able to get anything to learn a skill :(.

That about sums it up if I think of anything else I'll let you know but overall nicely done cant wait for the final version :alright:.

@Dragon, there isn't supposed to be a story. It's a dungeoncrawler game. xD

 

I love it so far Lizzie. The inventory is epic, did you do it yourself.

Kiri lol I know that :P a review is my opinion and I love stories so imo the game could be better with a story again just my opinion xD. I still love it either way.

I either found a loop whole or mastered the demo :P I only used about 3 potions to get to the boss, and did not need any items to defeat him. The amount of items i finished on shows how much i dominated it. And I ended up on level 7.

Also Lizzie, I think I have found a bug. Whenever my inventory got too full, it would open up when I get a new item and the new item is in the 2nd inventory. So, I have just filled up the first, and now items are going into second. However, once the window automatically opens, it will not close. The only way to close it is to get rid of an item so that you only have one inventory again.

I am already starting on it, and I'm loving the randomness.

Lizzie, you really know how to make a guy like me happy . . . -laughs- :biggrin_002:

 

I will be making several sets of songs, including several battle themes, partly so that if I make any bad ones, you can simply leave them out, and also, because I hope to see that you include a script with random battle music, or even world music.

 

Would be interesting. . . .

 

Eh, for now, I'll keep the world themes simple, with the real show stoppers being the battle themes!

 

i hope to finish them by the end of the weekend!

Okay, 1.09. Fixes i remember making:

  • Str and Dex adds to atk and p/mdef respectively.
  • You can start with a healing book, not saying how.
  • A few tweaks to the weapons and armors.
  • Stealing now doesn't have an issue.
  • A few others I don't remember.
  • 3 more maps to test out; randomly, of course.

To be entirely honest, I cannot think of a word that would excel the word 'gorgeous' in an effort to describe your game. Although it's just a demo at the moment, it shows a lot of promise. Features that I barely had the chance to use like alchemy and smelting would make a great feature in a longer game of Dungeons of Eternity, along with opening up many more different paths the player could take in his or her journey through the dungeons.

 

The ability to apply points to skills and talents make it look very professional, and allows the player to create a unique class, rather then have preset ones. The scripts, as per usual with your scripting, are just mind-blowing. The ability to bejewel, create and dismantle are things that I would have never thought possible before this game. And the puzzle in the castle-like room, that was just amazing.

 

The maps are just so beautiful. I was taken by surprise when, after the first round dying in the first level, a jail, the second offered a magnificent, lush forest for my eyes. The maps were made gorgeously, my personal favorites being the bright forest and the dark cave.

 

I'd have to rate your game a 10/10 Lizzie, hands down. I love it <3 and I hope to see it finished one day.

UPDATE: Version 1.1 is out!

 

Among the fixed items, 'great' swords, spears, etc are no longer single-handed weapons.

 

Also, there are no 10 battle maps.

 

Unless a glitch is found, this will be the last 'demo' until i get the last 60 or so maps done.

I think I found one.

In the ice cave, I switched the switch to the far right, then went back to the left and when I tried to go in I got an error, something to do with the advanced message script.

Gonna play again and if I find it i'll take a screenshot.

...I think I beat it...

I can't, I always get the error in the ice cavern, and in the fire cavern I can't figure out how to open the gate :angry:

Desert map, I switch the three switches and the spikes go down but I can't walk to the other side.

Same error as before in the ice cave, I go for the rightmost switch then when I check the others it tells me that they have already been switched, then I go to the door and the error from before pops up.

Another one, I selected the Dark Magic skill but I got a book of light, is that right? I find it weird because later with that same character I found a book of Darkness.

 

Will keep updating as I find more.

No problem Liz :) I really like the demo, so it's part of wanting to see it finished and beat it.

OK, now to the bugs and glitches:

-Forest map with the river: the ogre won't go away after I destroy the mushrooms.

-Swamp map: the chest in the bottom-right corner of the map cannot be opened, you can only check it from the right and it says it can't be opened from that angle.

-Smithing: sometimes when I temper my armor with iron, the result says it changed the material to Bronze, is that supposed to happen? I've had this "error" since yesterday but forgot to report it. This ussually happens when my smithing is low at 1 or 2, I haven't raised it more than that.

-Book of water: the description says it teaches Waterblast, but the name of the spell is actually Waterball, a bit of a nitpick but I tought you might want to fix that.

 

Finally! I beat it! Thief-like build level 2 with waterball lvl 2.

Second time in a row. Paladin-like build level 3 with Francisca.

 

-Beach map (I think): Couldn't move just turn around, when I checked the Gate behind me I got the AMS error from before.

-Desert map: if you use a bomb on the top left mound the top right mound dissapears too.
