Script Request Guidlines

Recommended Posts

Well, here you are developing a game and fancy and such but wait! You need a feature that is not eventable nor included by default!

You need a script, and have decided to post in this section to request one. You might just get lucky, as our wide array (ha, coder puns) of scripters are here to faithfully serve dedicated game makers such as yourself. But dangers lurk as there are...

Rule 1: Search the Master Script Lists to ensure the script has not been made already.

Well, as many know but few seem to comprehend, there are comprehensive lists of scripts that have been made at multiple locations.

On-site Master Script List: http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/topic/8675-rgss3-master-script-list/

Wiki Master Script List, which incorporates many sites: http://rmvxace.wikia...ter_Script_List

RPGMakervxa Master Script List: http://www.rpgmakerv...t-list-on-site/

RMRK's Master Script List: http://rmrk.net/inde...ic,44874.0.html

Rmrk's External Site Links: http://rmrk.net/inde...ic,44876.0.html

And there are many more other sites, too many to list.

Rule 2: Follow the guidelines below.

We have some general guidelines here, which you should follow to avoid uncompleted requests, verbal warning, real warns, and in some cases, bans and suspensions.

Be as descriptive as possible:

- Just because you know what you're talking about when you say "a system thing like in final fantasy" doesn't mean every will. You should provide in-depth details into what you want. As MrBubble says:

The more details you can provide, the higher chance your request will be fulfilled.

Use Visual aids when possible:

- What's that? Your system has stuff that is GRAPHICALLY INCLINED? Whoa. Hey, maybe a Mock-up, Screenshot, or Video Link could help with getting what you want.

- Don't just provide visual aids with no other descriptions. The coder will need to know exactly what they are looking for.

Provide links to other scripts mentioned:

- While it's plain to you what needs to be compatible with what, it is not to us. You mention it has to be working work with the "Miscellaneous Script that does stuff", you should also provide a link to the script, so we can see it too.

- It should be made as easy as possible for a kind, helpful coder to aid you in your time of need. You should not expect us to go searching for everything you mention and get graphics for your script. You should do it for us.

Be Humane:

- We are volunteers. We are not paid to do this, to help you or the site or anything. we do it of our own accord.

- Be kind and respectful to a coder who is trying to help you. If you aren't, they may just decide to not help you, and just drop it all together. They have the right to do it, and it is your own fault.

- Patience is all important. no one likes to see a whiny guy bumping his thread with "waaah you guys suck help me make my awesome, better than your game, game". Screw that, it turns us coders away.

- Say thank you, and give proper credit.

Check out these examples:

- Good requests:

http://www.rpgmakerv...ans-limit-shop/ - This guy gave clear and concise what he wanted, gave us everything needed to do what he needed to have done. And look, he got the famous Mrbubble to do it very quickly for him. Good job man.

http://www.rpgmakerv...-battle-system/ - Shiro here did just what needs to be done. Linked to the script he needed changed, gave what he needed to be changed in it, and even offered a REWARD. And guess what, it was solved, filled, and closed. Another job done.

- Bad requests:

http://www.rpgmakerv...ple-scan-skill/ - This request is all over the place. A single line with hardly any information. He tells us to be just like "Tankentai", with no link or anymore information regarding his request.

http://www.rpgmakerv...-battle-script/ - Wow, just wow. There's basically nothing here but an arbitrary name of a script, without link or detail. Just terrible.

Rule 3: Only requests for VXA/RGSS3 are allowed.

- You can ask for conversions from RGSS3 only as RGSS1/2 have there own forums.

- Do not ask for XP/RGSS script, or VX/RGSS2 scripts specifically. The topic will be closed. This forum is for VXA only.

Additional Notes:

- If you break rule 2, you will be given 24 hours to improve your topic to meet the guidelines before it is closed.

- If your request is solved, you may report your topic and let us know to close it.
