Story

It has been 2 weeks since the downfall of the Black Knights, and the destruction of the Mana Orb. The world is safe...for now.

Soon, the true cause of the events that unfolded after Bob, Joe, and Cathy's final exam, will be revealed Those three, and now Axel, must save the world from a new threat. One that has been terrorizing the world for centuries, but has kept itself hidden. And the only person that knows anything about it went missing 15 years ago. Bob's dad. Not to mention there is a new organization called the White Knights. Their intentions may be obvious, judging by the name, but the identity of their leader may surprise you.

Changes from the previous game and new features:

-Sideview ATB battle system

-Different icons for EVERY item, weapon, and armor.

-Item synthesis + Blacksmith shop

-End-game tower of ordeals dungeon

-Damage caps at 999, which is now reachable since it's possible to get even stronger than

when you are level 99

-Better damage formula

-More places to explore and more chests

-Stat booster items

-7 party members. 3 in battle at one time.

-Sidequests. Small ones and large ones

-Better/Different skill learning system (Haven't decided)

 

Stats:

HP = Hit/Health Points (Max = 999)

MP = Mana/Magic Power/Points (Max = 999)

ATK = Attack (Max = 255)

PWR = Weapon Power (adds additional damage to everything, even skills. Max = 255)

DEF = Defense (Max = 255)

INT = Intelligence (Magic Attack. Max = 255)

RES = Resistance (Magic Defense. Max =255)

HIT = Accuracy (Max = 255)

SPD = Speed (Max = 255

LUK = Luck (Critical Hit percentage Max = 100 of course, but I'm not sure if I'll let the player reach that anyway.)

 

If the enemy's LUK isn't 0, the player's LUK will be lowered.

LUK is affected by weapons only, not levels

 

Weapon Types:

 

 

Base PWR is based mostly on weapon tier, as opposed to type.

 

Legendary Sword: 

High ATK, Average INT.

Average HIT, LUK, and SPD

 

Normal Sword: 

High ATK, low INT

Average HIT, LUK, and SPD

 

Gun:

Low ATK, low INT

Very high HIT, LUK, and SPD

 

Bow:

Low ATK, low INT

High LUK, and SPD, Very High HIT

 

Spear:

Low ATK, average INT

High HIT and SPD, average LUK

 

Staff:

Very low ATK, High INT

Average LUK, SPD, and HIT

 

Heavy Sword:

Very High ATK, Very low INT

Low SPD, Average LUK and HIT

Bob

Weapon forte: Sword

Average stats. Dark damage does 50% less.

Slightly low MP and INT

Average exp gain

 

Age: 17

Kevin's son, and Harry's grandson. He is destined to save the world from...something. 

He is the only one who can lift the Sword of Arcatis. He will always try to help others 

in need, and loves adventure. He will always avoid killing anything or anyone if he can. 

His dad disappeared 16 years ago, and Bob's next adventure, is finding him.

Joe

Weapon forte: Gun and Spear

High SPD, average MP and INT, slightly low ATK and DEF.

High HIT

Slow exp gain.

 

Age: 17

Bob's best friend. They have been been friends all their lives, and so have their dads. 

When they were little, Joe would often get the two into trouble. He can be a little 

arrogant, but is always there for Bob when he needs him. He'll never admit it, but

he thinks of Bob as a brother. His real brother went missing a couple years ago.

Cathy

Weapon forte: Sword, Bow, Staff, and Fist

Slightly high MP and INT

Fast exp gain.

 

Age: 17

A girl that Bob and Joe met in school. The Black Knights killed her parents when she 

was 10. She ran away, and lived with the mayor of Silverwood Village after that. She

always worked hard in school, training for when she would avenge her parents. As a

result, she ended up better than the other two at just about everything, and has

developed a rivalry with Joe.

Axel

Weapon forte: Spear

Slightly low stats, High SPD

Slow exp gain.

Age: 17

Previously the arrogant rich kid from school that decided Bob was his rival. He

dropped out of Silverwood Academy because he could never do as well as the

other students. His only two friends only liked him for his money. Until his

friends were killed, Axel never thought to be friends with Bob, who, by this

time, had saved his life. Now his new friends have forced him to go on an

adventure with them. He will learn that he's more important to them

than he ever thought possible.

Kevin

Weapon forte: Broadsword

High ATK, HP, and DEF

Low MP, SPD, and INT

Average exp gain

 

Age: 42

Bob's father, and Harry's son. He is a very skilled wizard, but prefers to fight with

a sword in combat. This is part of what makes him a famous paladin. He also used

to be the headmaster of Silverwood Academy, but he disappeared, leaving the job

to the mayor.

Mady

Weapon forte: Bow

High SPD, INT, and MP

Slightly low ATK

High HIT

Fast exp gain

 

Age: 19

The girl Bob, Joe, and Cathy met on Mt. Caeli. She helped them by selling items to them.

She wanted to go into Arcatis and help, but Harry didn't let her, saying it was

too dangerous. After that, she left, but didn't say where she was going.

Jon

Age: 20

Previously second hin command of the Black Knights. Harry defeated him,

and probably had him sent to prison. He said that if Bob survived

their battle with him, that they might eventually find out why he joined the 

Black Knights. And who he is...

Adrian

Age: 46

Previously third in command of the Black Knights. He always hated Jon for

surpassing him at such a young age, but there seems to be more to his

hatred than that. He killed Cathy's parents, and claims to have fought

Bob's dad in the past. He escaped after losing to Bob and his friends a

second time by what looked like teleportation, which is supposed to be

impossible unless someone in the Sacred Grove is doing it for you.

Brandon

Age: 42

A friend of Kevin's. He helped Harry and Kevin with something involving his 

(Brandon's) son. He said that he and Kevin would meet again after their sons had

met. What were those three planning?

One of the people involved in the "legend" of Arcatis, but has been forgotten.

The wizard who created The Mana Orb ironically, was not, although his name is unknown.

He is also supposedly to blame for the dark orbs being so common. He did something terrible

and is returning to finish what he started.

Leon

Age: 2000+

One of the people involved in the "legend" of Arcatis, but has been forgotten.

All that is known is that he was a great hero and was the original wielder of The Lion Blade

There are others, but updated descriptions (as of the beginning of Arcatis II) of them would be spoilers.

I'm still not done with the scripts and currently only have a debug map, so it will be a while. Not sure when though. All I can really say, since I'm bad with time estimates, is that it will be done this year. I know, doesn't say much :(

using blizz-abs was getting to be a pain, and didn't really fit what I had planned. Blizz-abs is great, but it's really glitchy and sometimes hard to use.

Personally I'm not a fan of the tree autotile set, it looks more like a giant bush than tree tops. If you can place trees properly within the top two layers (may need to use an event to make it 3 layers above the ground) it looks much better. 

 

But that's just me.

 

Good to see progress, more than I can say about myself lol I've been too busy with work and school to actually get stuff done on my games.

Last night I had The Shire song from The Lord of the Rings stuck in my head and thought it would be cool to have a village where people live in the sides of cliffs. I decided to make all Elves live like this.

I made a cutscene that I had planned and finally decided to make! Sometimes I find it easier to make cutscenes I think of as soon as I can. That way I'm not getting bored, or lazy because I really want to get to the part where I can make the awesome cutscene I thought of.

If I just sit down and work on it all day, I can get it done pretty soon, but the chances of me ever doing that are very slim.

I honestly have no idea since I don't have a regular schedule for anything. I still need to figure out how the item synthesis system will work and get a script for it, as well as come up with a demo dungeon.

If anyone wants to play a very short demo that doesn't quite have all the features since they're not all finished and setup, I finally finished my Christmas game. It takes place after the scene where you pick your characters' magic types, but before the final exam in The Hidden City of Arcatis.
