Black Shadow 14 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Time to start the first lesson. I haven't done any lessons here in awhile, but it's time to start probably. Okay, your first lesson will be: Open RPG Maker XP We are going to use the first map in the game Choose wich tileset you want Map it as you should map it Post your screen of the map here When you have posted your map here, I will discuss with you what you have done wrong, and what you can improve. The other students are free to join the discuss, and tell what they think are missing, and what can be improved. Post your maps as soon as possible. 1 Gary The Duck reacted to this
Marked 197 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I haven't opened up RMXP in a while, and I've never been able to map that well, so I made a small map for some advice: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/upload...y_1_18_2716.png
Black Shadow 14 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 In some areas, you walls are to straight. Make them less-straight. You have some details already, but you could add some more. Other from that, pretty good.

KarshnerShagger 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Here are two maps that I have done for my game.... The first is a cave in which the player starts out. It will have a couple of tutorial-type objects. There is also two secret passages for the player to find. I know that I have to add more bits and bobbles. This is the map when you exit the cave above. It leads to the first town where you learn more about the story. Cheers, KS

Black Shadow 14 Report post Posted January 26, 2008 That tileset id more for a small forest town, rather as a huge town, as you intent to making(At least, it looks like that) Try to think more forest in that map. More grass and nature, and less rock paths and stuff.
RMXPirate 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2008 Well it is suppose to be a small town but like fancy kind of. Like instead of it having grass and paved roads it has fancy pathways etc...

Polraudio 122 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 Its a forest so you will need more trees and more ground detail. Other than that not bad it all ^_^

Please wait a couple of minutes and then for check out the new thread that will be titled "Kiriashi's Mapping Depot"
Black Shadow 14 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 *Big necropost here* Okay folks, since I've returned to the forums, I decided to start this up again :) Same rules as before: Open RPG Maker XP We are going to use the first map in the game Choose wich tileset you want Map it as you should map it Post your screen of the map here
LovePhoenix 3 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 Ahh I was wondering if we could use any master tilesets or edited ones? I am interested in this. ^^
Black Shadow 14 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 You can use any edited tileset. You can even use custom tilesets if you want :)
LovePhoenix 3 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 Oh in this case, here goes. ^^ Lilycup Village
Black Shadow 14 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 Looks pretty good, but some areas looks very empty. Like in the upper right corner. There's a huge, empty spot where you can add some more details. Also, the lakes looks to big and undetailed, which dosen't look good. Make them smaller. Also, the log in the bottom right corner really looks out of place. Those logs are only meant to be bridges over lakes, and not logs on land. There's a smaller one for that purpose. Other from that, pretty good work :)
LovePhoenix 3 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 Thanks for the tips. Will try to fix those things you pointed out. ^^ Expect me to post maps regularly. I really need to improve my mapping. XD
