hey guys, school's been out for 3 days, so I thought I'd drop back by and say Hi, I don't have that much time on the net as before so I don't think I'll be as active, but I'll start checking here for requests again so feel free to make some at my spriting thread :) neways, whats been up? well, I managed to pull my grades back up to being mediokere, 3 or 2 Bs not completely sure yet probably 3, and 4 As maybe 5 haha so yeah, school, which was such a hard ride, is finally over. after wards? it's been party after party every day haha Friday we went to a pool party, yesterday just out chilling, and today was my birthday party :0 no pics of vids of today, but the pool party was retarded, they were late so we had to walk arond town -middle of fucking nowhere- for a hour made videos of that though feel free to laugh at us haha Youtube Video ->Original Video Youtube Video -> ok, so this isn't a blog or nething so enough about that, time for info on the game. I did get alot of work done on this :) I finallized the story board, typed out and is almost done implimenting the game script for chapter one. I've got 20 mins of solid game play, I'm going to rewrite a big chunk so thats going to keep me from releasing chapter one. I'm going away to duke this summer for 3 weeks to take a computer programing course, Duke West campus specifically, Duke is ranked 6th college in the US btw, which is nice, but I don't want to go there, my dads going to make me either way *sigh* I want to go to new york art or maybe even SCAD ;_; but honestly I have a better shot at Duke, which is retardedly ironic, I got a 30 on my ACT this year, by senior year if I have like a 32 I'll pretty much be set..... *sigh* if only I could actually fucking DRAW anyways, I'm going to definetly release chapter one by the end of summer, please look forward to it :) if you wish however, I will most likely release a beta on PhanxGames before I leave but no where else as it won't be a finished product. not that chapter one will be finished either, I don't have near any sprites done... kk, thats that, hope ya'll keep watching, and feel free to requests icons on my thread, I'll be doing alot this next 2 weeks before duke!!! but I'll keep up with my requests till then :)

Thanks to Ellenor for the female base as well as the pallet for the Fukai remake, decided to remake the two bad sprites in my casting... after... 2 months? Fukai and Miho :P (Purple and green girls) oh god, I'm a lasy ass XD I havn't sprited in so long, I'm suprised I remember how, oh well, didn't really touch the other two. -

Maybe with a mercenary system or a western RPG, but with JRPGs, each character is uniquly built, so this really wouldn't work with my taste of games. -

never actually heard of or used the personal save file script, what does it do exactly? the default save system works pretty much I think. as for battle system, I'd just event one, you can't really event a message system, so the UMS wins over for me, but thats really because I can do so :\ (I've a half finished card system which I plan on going back to one day, as well as that FE pack, really old stuff, the only published event system I have is that custom menu.... which reminds me, I never posted it here, I'll do that later.) the DFB isn't terrible if you can add some little gemicks to it through eventing, it's not terrible, just really generic, and even more boring becuase it's over used since it IS the DFB for a RM. -

nothing has been more of a staple to me than the UMS, theres no way I'd make a game without it. -
either switches of variables. For switches, just turn on either the switch for boy or girl and use conditionals to follow through, for variables, it's the same except just set Boy=1 and girl=2 so the variable "sex" can be set to that number and you can use conditionals to carry through. I suggest variables for any kind of set up based off of this kind of problem, it saves alot of space, event hough this is just a boy and girl, if you get into a bit more complex eventing you're going to want to use variables alot alot more.

honest opinion, this won't work, I've seen this idea set forth plenty of times already. I'll say why as well, it's too big and to intangible, not to mention this won't be you're main project, this same idea is already a MMO for crying out loud, and the mmo sucks, lol (forgot the name, but yeah, you become a space captain and colonize, fight, etc etc.) I'm not saying this is a bad idea in itself, I'd play a game like this, in a sense it's very much like the FFT series, but honestly, no one would pull this off, I don't know you're ability but it's not worth the time. as far as technicality goes, yes, this should work in the hands of someone who can make the resources, have the skills to code the game, technically, I could do this, technically, just think on it, sit on it for a long long time, I wouldn't put myself through this, and if you can't make the resources, you're never going to go anywhere, trust me on this, it doesn't matter how many friends of yours can, it's not going to happen. I'm probably going to get hate for this but I've really seen this at least 4 times already.

I'll just post this here since it feels like the best place. anyways, my grades came out terribly (for me anyways, 6Bs 1A, thats REALLy bad as I usuually jsut get 2 or so Bs) anyways, I have to focus on school for the last quarter, so I'm dedicating myself off the internet a bit, I'll be checking the site, but won't post unless it's like support help, just so ppl know why I'll be lurking.

I'm too young to have worked with it, check out "Sacred Earth: Bonds" for sure though, to date probably one of the best if not the best rm game I've played, a good deal better than quintessence (Since thats the game everyone knows of). that, are Sacred Tears True, it's a Japanese commercial game but it was made in 2k3, theres a demo of it, bloody brilliant.

2k3 was epic, really, in comparison to pro games from 2k3 to xp, 2k3 had about 20 good games to 1 good xp game. 2k3 didn't have scripting, back in those days, eventers were whats up, and event coding was serious buisness too, I've seen better evented battle systems than 90% of xp scripted systems. (just play one of white tie's 2k3 games) a load more custom graphics, beutiful lot of them at that, but the maker itself, very awesome, yes, no scripting, but it could play movies, have vehicles, and again, eventing powers! scripting pretty much ruined eventing, 2k3 had some serious eventing, think Quintessenss's battle system multiplied. only thing bad about 2k3 is the out dated graphics, but then again, it's out dated in every way now, when it was used rm had a much larger air of professionalism though. to date it's pointless for any noob to tackle 2k3 when xp and especially vx is boiled down to be so much more noob friendly. that said, everything on the internet can be free, xp, vx, 2k/3, but they do all have legal licenses, the reason why people will sometime say you can make commercial games with 2k3 is because one has the license to do so other than some japanese and other asians when it first started out.

nice, did you use photoshop? I still having figured out how to recolor on PS other than that color brush, for sprites I just use the old color swatch trick on MSPaint. and wow, custom tileset, nice man, I'm not good enough to work on that at all :\ gotta learn, are you going to share it once you're done?

I vote VX because it's much, MUCH higher quality of graphics, seriously, those sprites and tilesets are orgasmic XD that aside, what vx is it a dumb down of xp, it's about 10x more user friendly and over all, "noob friendly" face it, if you open it, it's easier to use by every defineition of the word, about twice the amount of things you could do with a check of a box on XP, and overall, it looks good. however, it's TOO noobed down imo. theres limits on everything you want to do now, and eventing has yes, annoyingly, become harder. for scriptors, VX is awesome, so yes, VX is definitely better by it's capabilities for pro work, as well as it's extreme noobness, but for ppl in the middles that can't script etc, well, VX it's to on the extremes, the mapping system was fail as well, it actually got harder and more complicated, what the hell were they thinking?

yes, but the thing is, anyone with enough brains to make epic maps, will never have epic fail of storys. Like I said though, I could care less about someone's amazing epic storyline that takes place with arshes and 40 dungeons with 20 twists and betrayals, it's CRAP rtp imo, yes, they're good graphics by themselves, but nonetheless they look vastly inferior to custom or just edited graphics, because simply put, the RTP was designed to be basic, simple, and overall very very bland, it can be worked well with extra and special effects, but without editing the rtp doesn't go far imo, at least change the pallet a bit. a amazing story doesn't make a amazing amateur game, amazing display and productivity does. Trust me, by working on visual & techincal appeal over story etc, the story will always follow naturally, always, people who lead with just a "story of the century" wall-o-text game tend to fail because they're noobs.

lol, it's 99% of the time pay first. edit- check Zue's Commish journal, I have it linked in the last last post. edit2- well, it can depend, sometimes it's seperated, Glady Faith, the one who did the chibis for CF seperated it up, the first payment came before hand, the second came after a sketch was done, and then the final product is sent. usually the artists is paid before work is done though. You normally won't get duped by freelance artists on DA, it really doesn't happen unless it's obvious it would.

lol, very very barely XD The average price range for CG commissions are like 20$ or more, think about it just normally, pretty much pros, but still, one cg will take anywhere from 2.5-5 hours, divide that by the price you're getting less than minimum wage, only reason is that it 'is' free lance and that artists are always poor, lol. I'm too slow and inconsistent to continuously take commissions, but yeah, I took 4, one 5$ and three 8$, it's really not that much at all for the time it takes. well, free is always the better option of course, it's just a hobby after all, lol edit- Zue is a very good example, and she's one of the cheaper and most reliable ones too, plus, she does game design work, I only did a speed commish with her though since I don't actually need anything :\ (And I've already got a artist that I go to.)
