Like, some idiot redneck leaves their entire family (800 people) in the car with the windows up, it makes the statistic seem bigger than it actually is. In america, you can't really put the blame entirely on the guy, sure he's the one who threatened her or whatever, but with the availability of handguns or mace, or even a pocket knife, it's partially the girls fault. (Given they're of adequate physical ability to aim and fire a gun/stab or cut someone.) It's hard to say no to a guy who's stronger than you, but easy to squeeze a trigger.
