I appreciate the offer. No thank you. -
I definitely remember the drapery, still think about it from time to time. Wow, I was just talking about Vincent Price on here yesterday, that's amazing you did that portrait, few even know who he is now a days. I love that you chose him and it turned out amazing too. Great work, keep it up, +1 rep! -Cheers

Poems By Jon Bon 003 - The Brave, Kind, and Wise
Jon Bon replied to Jon Bon's topic in Stories and Literature
Thank you both very much, kind words go a long way. I haven't really written anything much since high school, but I started recently, must be all that drawing making me more creative. Anyhow, thanks about the style, after re-reading it I believe the style influenced by Vincent Price someone who's work and words I truly admire. Specifically I think it's like his work on the 1970's TV Show The Hilarious House of Frieghtenstein. Long before my time, but I watched it in reruns as a tween and into my teenage years. http://www.frightenstein.com/ I am not technically trained in writing, so I don't know 'styles', I just kinda get inspired and write it. But since I do read and listen to poetry it's almost always inspired from another artists style. Credit where credit is due. I have another poem in the same style I wrote a few weeks before that one. I will post it to here when I have the other computer back and turn this into my poem area, where I will post stuff as I write it. Thanks again. -
If I could give you more than +1 rep I would. This is amazing, you are an inspiration to musicians everywhere. I am still trying to convince my music buddy to release an album in the same manner you did. Excellent way to showcase your work and possibly sell some in the future. I appreciate you posting here, thank you again.

Definitely. He is somewhere between the Fez main character and the braid main character in style. Excellent definition on the character, if pixel art is the style you want I think he looks great.

I too once held that title. My production quality was no where near as has as your is though. I like the look of your game immensely. We all get our inspiration from somewhere. The fact that you link yours, means you likely didn't copy it, good stuff! The story and gameplay sound ultra interesting, I like 'alternative' games. We need more of these, and it's great to see indie developer doing this stuff. You keep making your games like this, and people will keep playing them. I don't have much time this weekend, but I hope to be able to play this after the other game I recently promised and want to try. Looks great and I anticipate playing it. -Cheers! EDIT: Your screen shots are awesome btw, reminds me of so many different games at the same time in a really good way, very inspirational. In the future you may want to put them in spoiler tags to shrink down your original post, makes things more clean. Great stuff though!

Hey, you can't catch everything. I run pretty much anything creative past at least one person before I post it live. I'm honored you thought of me, depending on how long production takes you to show others, I can always look stuff over before you post it if you like. If things are quick to pump out, sometimes it's better to post here first, because I am by far perfect, and others can give advice too. But in any case, feel free to reach out to me for creative design needs at any point (that goes for anyone reading this). I get it more often then one may think.

I like it. I have critiques, just opinions on the writing though, can take em or leave em. The only thing I noticed that was wrong was it said in the land twice in the text displayed over the world map immediately after the black screen text. It was was pretty good man, it made me want to check your game out. I liked the description of your story, makes me have good questions, and wanting more. That sells your story much better. Keep rolling with this in my opinion you'll do great as long as you keep making the game. EDIT: Looking forward to the gameplay video, but no rush, take your time, the longer the better.

I think the issue he is having is that the controls are not preset when everyone plays the game. And was wondering if there was a way to have a script that could preset them. So yes still allow the player to alter their function, but in addition allow a preset control scheme to be instantly assigned for ease of use for the player. So you could have preset control scheme, A, B, etc, and also allow manual customization. Like a cushion on a hard wooden chair, sure you can grab a pillow and sit on it and make your perfect seat, but what if it was built right in and you could still put a pillow down.

Newest Poem 003-The Brave, Kind and Wise There were once three pigs each one a brother, all of them were born of the same mother. The first born was big and known to be brave, there was no one in the world he wouldn't save The second was born average of size, known to be wise, and see through most lies. The last born was small and very kind, he preferred the use of his heart over the use of his mind. But when it came time to leave their home, none of them wanted to live all alone. Then the wise pig had a solution, he had an idea that was sure to suit them: "We each build a house near each other, then we can live beside one another." "You did it!" They both yelled, who knew what their futures now held. -------------------- With their houses all made, the three pigs laughed as they played. But when they grew up it was safe all around, the same could not be said on the outskirts of town. As they played they went further and further, until ending in the den of a known murderer. A wolf who was exiled from town, who had left willingly but with more than a frown. The wolf woke up with such a clatter, the three pigs had knocked over his peeping ladder. He awoke to say; "It must be my lucky day, time for dinner, I'd love if you'd stay!" The wise pig thought a moment of his reply, sure to be quick so he did not die: "Do you think my head is that porous? You simply want us as the main course." His response made the wolf nothing but angry, the wise pig was thinking 'oh no, who will save me.' It was then that the brave big chimed in, for him to wait any longer would have been a sin. "Yo mister wolf you may be tough, but this has gone on long enough." What happened next scared all three, because the cave was dark and it was hard to see. The wolf stretched and stood up tall, he lit a match and was by far the tallest of them all. He laughed at their fear and happily replied, "What are you to do? You're already inside!" The wise pig waited no longer, he acted a plan because the brave pig was not stronger. He jumped up quick and poked the wolfs one good eye, he then shouted "Run you stupid bastards, before we all die!" ---------------------------- Reaching their homes and hoping for safety, all three thinking 'oh god please don't chase me.' They each made it home and locked their front door, and exhausted from running collapsed on the floor. The wolf was now outside their houses, as they lay inside quiet as mouses. "I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE!!!" he screamed, it was obvious he was more than just steamed. "I don't like running for food in the mornings, I will give you no more further warnings!" "Come on out and let me eat, if I'm feeling nice, I'll take just your feet. It was the kind pig who spoke and said with a grin: "Not by the hairs on my chiny chin chin!" The pigs all laughed and rolled on the ground, and the wolf replied angrily "I'll huff and puff and blow your houses down." The thought of the act made them all laugh more, they rolled so hard they wore into the floor. Now it was the wolfs turn to smile, because these three pigs had underestimated his guile. He went to the Brave pigs house and saw, the entire thing was made out of straw. He took a deep breath as the pigs waited with anticipation, but the wolf knew too well of the impending devastation. The wind let out could be called mach one, the pigs were no longer having much fun. The straw house was now destroyed, the brave pig, quite annoyed. Winded and cataching his breath from the blow, the wolf couldn't chase him but the pigs didn't know. The kind pig yelled "Run to my house it's made of wood, the wolf may blow hard but he's not THAT good." The Brave Pig was now safely inside, glad of the fact that he had not died. The wolf stood up catching his breath, and wondered if this was worth all the stress. He must have been thinking yes, looking very happy with what he said next: "You think I'm tired, given up, or out done? With this next house I get two pigs for the price of one!" The wolf began to huff and puff with no hesitation, the house would come down by the wise pigs calculations. He had to save them and with no time to spare, the wise pig opened up and gasped for air: "Don't make it easy, have some self respect. Get out now while the house is still erect!" The two pigs heard their brothers warning, and ran from the house like for breakfast in the morning. The wolf let out what was now mach 9, but the pigs made it out just in the knick of time. The kind pig was frozen in perpetual fear, the brave pig grabbed him and ran for the last house that was near. Winded again and more tired than before, the wolf took down the entire house except for the back door. Knowing he'd blown much hard than previously, the wolf started to think far more deviously. He know what to do, and what came next, he had no more use for silly sub text. The wolf gathered all the wood and all the straw, laid it next to the house as the three pigs saw. He then bellowed with evil laughter, as he told them what he was going after: "This plan is perfecdt, and I don't mean to boast, but I;m going to light your house afire and leave you to roast!" The wise pig with his infinite wisdom, had made his house from birck, a fact now sure to kill them. The wolf grabbed for his nearly last match, which was weird because he had brought his entire batch. To him this was of no concern, boy was he dumb and when would he learn. Little did he know that earlier that day, while chasing the pigs he left a trail of matches the entire way. He lit the match and threw it on in, then something picked up, it was the wind. The match blew back right into his face, lit his fur ablaze it was such a disgrace. He was now on fire because where the match had blown, he ran into the trail and lit fire to his home. The fire ran all over and all across the ground, the wolf jumped into a lake and began to drowned. "Help I can't swim!" He shouted, "We have to save him!" The kind pig spouted. ------------------------------------------- The pigs saved the wolf despite his intention, and brought him to town for medical attention. The wolf now lay there with ill feelings all stored, and the kind pig comes to visit him each week in the burn ward. The moral of the sotry is to be well rounded, using bravery wisdom and kindness the results can be unfounded. Older Poems 002-The Fishy Smell of Summer 001-Haunting Game Memories

Well, based on that recommendation I am going to look into it first. Thanks, I appreciate your advice and input. On a related/unrelated note, is this the engine you are looking to for your first design, or just laying ground work for the future?
-
Following, and I will definitely be testing this as soon as I can get some free time.

Not being successful doesn't make you a failure, it's giving up on trying to succeed that makes it so.

Who is this crazy Passive Lion guy?!
Jon Bon replied to The Passive Lion's topic in Introductions and Farewells
These words sold me more than anything else you showed. Following you on twitter with my company Bon Ink Creations. Glad to have you aboard mate, and really looking forward to your work. -
http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/8593-mci-audio-module-xpvxvxa/page__fromsearch__1 Oh my goodness, how the heck did I miss that post? That's epic, and exactly what I need plus it solves another thing I needed too. Drool. Thanks Moonpearl, and ForeverZer0 as well.

Is it possible to have a script that would independently control each of the 4 audio channels inside rmxp in such a way that the player would be able to lower and raise the overall volumes of each channel in game through a script call with UI display. Furthermore if this is possible, would it then also be possible to have the same script add an additional channel for voice acting, also allowing the same independent volume control for all audio generated through that new channel. If this script currently exists (I have never seen, nor can find one) I would greatly appreciate it to be made for me. I don't know how difficult or if this is possible so any feedback would be great. Thanks. -Jon Bon

So scientist have recently found evidence of dark matter filaments connecting galaxy clusters. If you follow astrophysics or understand the theory of relativity then you likely get how important this is. Scientists didn't think that finding evidence of dark matter in this manner would be possible with our current technology. This should prove very interesting for the theoretical scientific world in the recent months to come. Excellent article, take a look. http://www.space.com/16412-dark-matter-filament-galaxy-clusters.html

Good to know. May I ask for any particular reason? I am always researching 3D engines, and of them the ones we talk about, so I would value your opinions and feedback on them.

Added the 'Wizard of Oz' to main thread and below.

Hmm that is weird. I recently was told about this engine, I plan to look into it more, but preliminary research seems very promising. http://unity3d.com/unity/

Love to see it! Cheers!

Try hitting up Jamendo.com. They have creative common license music there created by indie artists, some real top of the line stuff too. And how it works is you can use their music as long as you release your work under the same Creative Commons license, so as long as your game is free and it doesn't comflict with any of the other resources, that opens up a huge database of excellent unknown music to use. Additionally there are licenses where you can use without having to make your game open source, and just free. Check it out. I reread this, and I suppose your story telling doesn't need work, if these are merely blurbs, which after reading them again, I believe they are. Once you write this for real, I think it would read allot better like a book. Tactics battles rock, very cool. One piece of advice though, when I play tactics games I find since the battles can be long I tend to forget about the story when im between it. So it might be something to keep in the back of your mind, to have the characters in your story repeat past events verbally during action sequences as an in story refresher so that people can stay following with everything. But if your battles are sort it wouldn't matter much, but in the final fantasy tactics world I found it so hard to remember their crazy convoluted plot lines while I was trying to play 3 hour long strategy battles and pause and save half way through some times. Keep it up!

He does not die, he is integral to the story. I can definitely give him a name for the characters to call him in the game, but he is not an invented character, he is from Alice in Wonderland, and his name IS The White Rabbit, I didn't make it up, that's just his name. But I could definitely work on a spin name to dub him. Agreed, the ears should be extended, I will make him skinny too, but the body is a template body, that's just a random body I threw on and lined by mistake. It was intended to be guide lines for a new drawn body but I got over zealous when doing the line art and did the body by mistake. Anyhow, thanks for the input. I won't likely redraw him just yet, but I can already envision a better version now, thanks again!

Very cool man. Keep fiddling around, you can make some awesome stuff with that. Zombie Master, one of my favorite indie games, was made using a half life 2 mod, which runs on the source SDK. Zombie Master Official Site Zombie Master Steam Site Someone actually made the entire first movie of Resident Evil as a level in that game, super fun as both the player and the zombie master. You could likely make levels for this, not sure if people still play, but considering it's the only game I know if where one player can send hordes of zombies at a bunch of first person shooter players, there has to be still a following. Keep up the great work. If you have lot's of fun with that you may want to take a look into the unreal engine too, more hands on, but one of the best engines on the planet. -Cheers!
