I suppose 'store front' was not the right metaphor. I believe if I had of said "I intend to spend more time focused on developing games and helping others publish than building shiny office space, at least for the time being." that would have applied better. The point I was trying to make is I don't need a dedicated forum, with an awesome UI and what not to make games, that's kind of secondary to the process. Our forum is really only for basic forum purposes and why it's on a free provider. I do appreciate the effort, it's just super low on the priority list of things I want, and doesn't even make the list of needs. But again, thanks anyhow! -
I agree with him completely. And good on him and your whole country for standing up for that. A definite effort in a step towards a unified and peaceful planet. Glad to see you guys standing up to the bullies, my country doesn't do it very well.

Thanks. I actually own the sequel, bought it from blockbuster when they closed up shop. The story will include 9 different fair tales, one of which is Alice in Wonderland. I am trying to draw and conceptually design all the aspects without outside influence so it's unique and represents me as a developer. I appreciate the advice and the thought. -Cheers!

Introduction I started spriting a while ago, maybe even a year now, and I recently start putting pencil to paper. Since I also started conceptually designing a game from scratch, I figured why not try and draw some concept art to go along with it. Everything posted here is drawn right from scratch by me, without the use of any pictures, media or anything else, I just closed my eyes, then drew what I wanted to see. The White Rabbit This is the 7th or so character I drew, and one I think will likely work towards a final model. He is a slave to the queen of hearts and is forced to be her time keeper during court. I want to do hair on his body in a less hairy than his cheeks but slightly more than the top of his head, and possibly have him wear torn shorts and that's it. He'll be timid and slightly driven mad by the queen and spout "I'm late" at seemingly random times. The Wizard of Oz Just sort of started drawing this not knowing what would come of it, and I ended up working towards what I think is a great look for the wizard of oz. This is either what he will represent himself as when a disembodied head, or be his true self, I haven't decided yet, but definitely a incarnation of some kind of his. The Queen of Hearts Conclusion I will be adding more to this thread, and I would appreciate any feedback. If you draw tips are more than welcome, I am pretty much just shooting from the hip here. Thanks for reading and viewing I hope you enjoy my fairy tale drawings.

Yup, likely bad timing. Also you may want to spoiler tag your pictures, make your post more readable hehe. Welcome again! P.S. Set yourself up an avatar too for the forum, make you seem more personable, only if you want though ;)

Need people to test simple problem solving issues

If anyone has ever seen family feud the TV game show, then pretend you are one of the 100 people survey before the show. Just answer the question the best you can with whatever word comes to mind first. Like a rorschach (ink blot) test. -

I appreciate the offer, but I think what we have will suffice for now. I intend to spend more time focused on developing games and helping others publish than building shiny store front, at least for the time being. Thanks again, anyhow! -Cheers. -
I think that's a solid idea if it doesn't take ya too long to get working and what not. Would be good to post on the GDU facebook page to let members know they can be put on a 'mailing list' type thing.

If you did this, I would prefer one or the other between the video gig I need and this because either could become demanding and more than one person can handle. I will take it into consideration once I have finished the hiring process for the video editor. Thanks again for your thought, I appreciate the post. -

I don't think I could explain it better than you did, as far as what you want from people. But at the same time I had to read it twice, the second time out loud, and then it made perfect sense. I don't think people played text based games much, I however have and immediately knew where this idea game from, and related to my experiences playing old school, animated, but text based interaction video games. You're nuts man, in a good way, this is innovative excellence and a great shout out to the past. You should definitely be developing games instead of making parts for others. -
Wow. Great stuff, this is an extremely useful tool. You have an excellent mind for execution. I recommend this to pretty much anyone who wants to make their game not look 'stock'.
-
That is extremely pretty. I love everything you post man, keep giving my eyes these wonderful treats.

That's a good point, all those votes and no one replied? I guess you haven't gotten replies on your post yet. I intend to I have been super busy and want to give it the time it deserves. Rounding up my work for the day soon, so I will be sending that message.

Happy Canada Day!

I'd say you would appreciate it definitely because of your background. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of media and arts entertainment of any medium. It was an excellent show of passion and work, and how it takes a little bit of crazy too. It was inspiring on any level in my opinion. Four very different developers mainly showcased and I could relate with all of them and they all said similar things. I am sure anyone who has struggled with anything can relate to their efforts. I'm glad they all succeded and they all do it for the 'right' reasons, it gave me hope, and I would be happy if it gave other indie developers, or anyone else trying to do their own thing that same hope and inspiration.

Finished watching this. Excellent movie. So much passion and heart put into these games, much like some of the commercial titles too. But hearing 1 or 2 guys talk about 4 years of their life and to see the work they came out with(Fez, Meat Boy, Braid) and know that I love those games, is just awesome. I knew about what they went through and everything but to hear it from them and see it happen was a whole different story. Guys like these are pioneers in their field pushing forward no matter what at whatever cost, and they have all been rewarded for it. If you want to actually make video games and become an independent developer like myself, watch this video for some heart felt inspiration.

That is such a tough question. I have played way to many excellent games to pick one that is my favorite over another. I would need some sort of parameters to help choose, like genre, or year played or something. As a gamer I don't think I could ever pick just one. As a media fan I can clearly say my favorite movie is Goonies, and my favorite book series is the Dark Tower. But games, heck that's too tough for me, every time I write one down I erase it and write another. If I really answered this I would likely end up with a top 5 list of each genre I play. I honestly tried to pick just one, I couldn't.

You had it right when you said; Don't second guess yourself and let the haters/ney sayers win. You knew what the answer was along, thankfully this site is filled with intelligent thinkers. Don't ever hesitate to post stuff like this, because now you know even though you weren't the majority in that situation you were still correct and fair in your mindset.

I couldn't agree more. The whole versus discussion reminds me of this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZx2r3ISuKA

I was under the impression that all top of the line first person shooters have already raped the rpg genre for their good ideas. In other words first person shooter players have rpgs to thank for leveling characters, upgradable weapons, skill tress and the many other rpg concepts added to the FPS genre. Anyone who argues one category is clearly better than the other is closed minded and a fan boy of video games, and doesn't even understand why their is variety in the first place. I play both, I hate driving games and sports games, would I say first person shooters and rpg's are better than sports games and driving games? Heck no, that's such a blind statement it makes no sense. It's like saying apples are better than oranges. Or westerns are better than kung fu's. Or trucks are better than cars. It's definitely preference in general because each is so different, and why they are in a different category entirely. No one rpg can be better than no one first person shooter because there are so many parameters that can't even be compared fairly, it's really just a matter of opinion. EDIT: Moonpearl beat me by seconds, by yeah I agree with him 100%
