Not even going to point out how I said there were only two things I realized, even though I gave 3? Also, yes. It was actually Nisage who reminded me of here, after he got RMVX and RMVXAce on my new computer. I'm hoping to try and actually use RMVXAce to build an idea I've had for a while. I don't want to spoil it too much, but just for a bit of what I'm going to use... "The end comes before the beginning."

So as some of you may know, its been a long while since I've worked on any RPG Maker... So I just wanted to know what everyone here uses as ideas for making a game. What ends up being the first thing you think of when developing the game? The story? The scripts (such as getting a good equipment screen and proper battle system)? Do you think of the villain that will do a cliché thing and try to conquer the world or build the hero up who will do what is right? Do you draw out the world first so you can map out (ha!) what will be where or form the world after you already know when it will be important? In case you just decided to skim over that entire paragraph for this much smaller sentence, the question is: What do you plan out first when making an RPG game? Quick edit before I forget: I wasn't 100% sure where to put this... I still actually have to reread all of the forum rules, so sorry if I broke one or nine of them.

Just looking through the forums made me realize two things. 1) RPG Maker VX Ace? I thought RPG Maker DS was still the newest one or did I imagine that 2) I knew minecraft was big, but it even reached here? Granted, I have it myself so I shouldn't be surprized... 9) I really need to reinstall RPG XP, RPG VX, and RPG VX Ace now...

So ya... Its been ages since I've been on here and it actually took me a while to remember which password I use for here. Recently got a new computer, which is probably why I forgot about here since I didn't save all of my bookmarks. I probably won't be here as often as most, but I hope to be more active than I once was.

I may be doing some advertising... but I figured anyone on this forum that has played this game should know that its back! If you haven't played the game, or don't even know what BYOND is, click the following links depending on what you want. BYOND's main page. Getting Started with Byond. Digital World Story on BYOND. Digital World Story's forum. Anyway, onto my free advertising. Digital World Story is, of course, a multi-player online game, in which you can interact with other people online. The role that you (and everyone else in the game) takes is as your own Digimon Tamer. You start off choosing between several starting digimon; Gomamon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Demidevimon, Agumon, Patamon, Palmon, and Hagurumon. From here, you begin to experience the main aspects of the game as you train, level, and even capture new digimon. As a fair warning, however, Patamon is difficult for people new to the game to start with, so follow the guide I actually made to level a patamon all the way up to a Seraphimon here. Their really isn't that much more I can explain about the game that can't be explained on the forum, so just try following the link I provided above and trying the game out. Their isn't that much of a story line, something about a legend of Rookies being stronger then Megas... but I'm not sure what that really means. I'm semi-active on Digital World Story, and I'm always willing to help you as best as I can/should. ^^ Oh, before I forget, their are a few rules that should be followed. However, I can't seem to find them and post them here. :sweatdrop:

Enigma, I'm just wondering how far you are in eventing this. I tried this myself, and it seems almost impossible to get different items from different enemies... :sweatdrop:
-
Their actually already is a way to have rain appear in VX. Make a new event, then use the option "Set Weather Effects..." to begin choosing one of three different types of weather for VX; Rain, Storm, and Snow. It also comes with a power setting (how strong is your storm) and how long you want to wait before the full storm kicks in. (For quick storms, set the wait time to 1 frame, and uncheck the "Wait For Completion" box.) From their, it actually isn't that hard. Have fun with your storm, Kimayushi. ^^

...I'm almost afraid to ask this. What is Minecraft? I'm actually scared that if I google this, I might find myself and my semi-addictive personality hooked on the game. It just seems that good. :sweatdrop:

Is almost done with deciding on characters for my first game... Maybe I should work a little more on the story line now.

I've been in a long-time development of my game, so I'm sorry if I take a while to respond to this. I'm working on a unique character, a herbalist, right now. The skills this character has access to will* include things like throwing plant bombs at enemy(s) and summoning a plant-type enemy to attack, and such skills like that. My only concern is that I want a skill for this character to be... different. I'm not sure if this can be set up by an event, or if scripting is necessary, but I need a skill (All iz Plants) that will always give a specific item whenever it kills an enemy. Here are several examples to explain this easier. ~~Ex. 1~~ Enemy A has 300 HP. Herbalist casts All iz Plants! Critical Hit! Enemy A takes 734 damage! Enemy A has been transformed into a Medicinal Herb. Team is victorious. ~~Ex. 2~~ Enemy A has 300 HP. Enemy B has 1000 HP. Herbalist casts All iz Plants! Critical Hit! Enemy A takes 734 damage! Enemy B takes 712 damage! Enemy A has been transformed into a Medicinal Herb. Enemy B has 288 HP left. If that didn't make any sense, I could try and make it easier to understand... :sweatdrop: P.S. Sorry again that I've been away for so long. My game is taking up a lot of my time while I'm out of school.

Would like to apoligize for not being very active lately. Life has just been getting out of hand.

Would this be good last boss music?
OverlordMao replied to Faellin's topic in General Game Development
Not to be repetitive, but it really does depend on what boss you use it for. The song alone seems to fit "Any generic Demon boss" but I don't think it could fit "Any Final Boss."
