College or High School student that's on their semi-large list. Oh, and a Windows Live account. *hugs* -

I use DreamSpark. It's from Microsoft and because I'm verified, I get access to their software. Granted, not Ultimate version of 2010, but the Professional is all I need. *hugs Zeriab* -
Learn C# first, then you can learn Java. They have such similar syntaxes that it's insane. One of the reasons I say learn C# first is because of the Integrated Development Environment that C# has. It might not be perfect, but it's better then most Java IDE's.

C# has the XNA Game Studio that you can utilize if you want. There's plenty of tutorials out there. If you want to get your hands dirty then go with something like C or C++ where you need to manage a heck of a lot more. However, if you're just starting then I'd go with C#; managed language, object oriented and does a great deal of stuff for you behind the scenes. A great way to step into programming.

Not -impossible-, but with my skill level at the time it certainly would've been impossible. To all: The system is being rewritten from scratch to attempt to clean it up some. I doubt anyone will use it at this point simply because of the lax of an actual server to use it on (yeah..Windows server or perhaps could get away with a Linux box running Mono..dunno) and that I can't continually update it like I'd like to. I suppose things will be different when I get more free time and get a lot of the nasty core work done. Asynchronous Methods while multi-threading is no easy task. -
...this is exactly why when I write programs, they go Open Source and licensed under the GNU GPL v3 License...

I date because I want to get to know someone on a deeper level then just friends permits in society (at least here). In dating, I suppose it's a way of finding out more about not only the one you are dating, but about yourself. I found out a lot about myself after dating two or three different girls. Did I think we were going to get married? No, and neither did she. Unrealistic goals that we knew from the start probably wouldn't happen weren't set, therefore when we did break up (due to compatibility issues, or the relationship ran its' course, etc), it wasn't nasty and we remained as friends, realizing that it wasn't meant to be for us. That's my opinion. Dating is just a way for two people to eventually find the right person to be with....terrible summary of my post, but yeah.

Props Pol, thanks. And shame on the web-host for not keeping you informed issac. I don't blame you. *glares at Joey* >.< :biggrin_002:

Aftermath
formlesstree4 replied to Enigma's topic in Role Playing, Interactive Story Telling & Forum Games
I looked up and noticed Leon calling over to me and walked over to him, broom still in hand. "Haven't seen anyone else around, but I think I just heard someone shouting at us." I shrugged and began sweeping again, that being the best thing I could do right now. "I wonder where everyone else is, hopefully we can get some assistance in cleaning up this mess..." I sighed and continued sweeping at the never ending amount of rubble. -

*eventually reaches the Cafe, broom still in hand* "Hello? Is anybody there?" I called out, hoping to find someone. Until I hear a response though, I'll just sit down and start sweeping up some rubble and hope to get the wreckage cleaned up eventually. -

Aftermath
formlesstree4 replied to Enigma's topic in Role Playing, Interactive Story Telling & Forum Games
I caught the broom that Enigma threw at me and started to sweep a few things up, trying to find the floor in the debris when I noticed some activity towards the Cafe. Taking the broom along and with nothing else to lose, I began the small journey over to the Cafe, hoping that there were more survivors left in the aftermath of it all. There was one question constantly repeating itself: "How on earth did it come to this?" -

Which is really really bad if something happens or you want to move to a different host >.< Byethost is pretty good actually, I've used them before (am now with Blackbound actually) and haven't had any problems, plus several SMF (Simple Machine Forum) installations on there. Quite happy so far. -
Mine is something I wrote for a collaborative project for a Pokemon game:

*looks around at the carnage* It was a hard fought battle, and I fear we might not be done yet. Let's rest and regroup in case things go south again. *kicks around some broken pieces of glass* Looks like we get to restart from nothing, anyone got a broom? -
I pray that the coming dawn will restore the damages set in place..

Feedback for everyone on the site.
formlesstree4 replied to Leon's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
Let's play the "Find the problems with this quote" game. I love doing this: 1) Talking like that can be considered flame bait/flaming, I'd watch out. 2) Insulting another member directly, probably ruled as flaming. Seriously man? Calling someone else on the forum to stupid to understand? No, I had respect for you but at this point I've all but lost it. Now, let's dissect Leon's original post to see if we can extract what he meant (since people seem to automatically think he 'called them out'). Do you cause trouble on the forums? Have you been warned for bad behavior/flaming/flame-bait/insulting other members? If so, listen up. General summary: People should realize that the rules are interpreted by the owners, not the members. The site rules are subject to change at any given time, and a lapse in the documentation of the rules should be brought to the attention of the owners/moderators via private messaging so it can be corrected. The prime example that started this whole thing is double posting. Most forums I go to do not allow double posting since it junks up topics and unnecessarily brings up topics. Just because there are a plethora of other forums (as stated earlier) that allow this, that does not automatically say that you can do it here. Perhaps you can agree to a sense of unwritten laws that exist for most forums. My response to this is aimed at RKO who seemed to have taken offense to this. He was not calling you out, nor was he trying to insult you in any shape or fashion. He was saying that this is a site for game development, not racial discussions. The Mature Section does allow that, yes, and that's where it should probably be contained to. I'm all for having racial discussions. It unearths interesting intelligent discussions between several people that can bring a new level of understanding between everyone. I agree with this statement. Private Messaging exists for many reasons, one is to talk directly with staff members you feel aren't doing what you think they should be doing. You can ask questions publicly about general staff actions, but calling out individual staff members about it is not proper. That should be handled (as stated) via Private Messaging where the conflict can be resolved in a more peaceful manner without drawing in several other members of the forum. In other words: Treat each other as equals, because thinking of yourself as higher than another is only asking for trouble. It's not right to put others down then start responding in a manner that could invoke a flame war. He disagreed more with your presentation of the feedback. The way you put it would've been better handled via PM with Kiriashi directly rather then publicly in the eyes of the entire forum. It's to late for that now as a series of events has unfolded into the nice mess we have now. This is where it skewed off into a racial problem. Do not start about race in a topic that does not need it. The Mature Debates forum exists for a reason and expressing it here is not what you should be doing. Take it to PM's or in the Mature forum. You like a few others (and myself) can agree that the way Knuckles did his presentation was not the best, but that's life. It's been posted and we have to move on now. He did make points about keeping the rules cleaned and more updated, I'll give him that. The ordering part comes from when members start to interpret the rules differently then the staff would (that own the site), go on their own interpretation, get called on it, then get upset (I am not saying anyone here has done that) about it. If this had happened to begin with, none of this would've happened right now. It's all in the presentation though. The way it was presented could've looked like a personal attack, which started this whole mess off. Agreed. I believe the phrase used was "shit-starters", which has been pointed out several times. The flaming rule has been shattered to pieces in this topic several times. Try insulting the U.S. Government to the President's face. You think you might get away with it without some form of consequence? A repeating message that should've been followed from the start appears again. Shit-starters, not shit people. If he had called you shit, then the beginning would've probably looked like: I ran out of time to finish going through the topic, but these are my opinions on what's been said. I seriously think we need a time out. Take a nap, eat a piece of candy maybe (it cheers me up at least), or go listen to some music that'll calm you down. Nothing is going to be completed if there's accusations being thrown everywhere in the public eye when they should be handled privately. I recommend this topic be closed and left alone to fall down and take the conversations to personal messages if still necessary. -
Feedback for everyone on the site.
formlesstree4 replied to Leon's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
This is true, but the presentation of the criticism makes all the difference, and how it can be interpreted. Some might view Knuckles' brutal honesty as a personal attack. I don't think it's a personal attack, I just feel that it could've been presented better and taken care of behind-the-scenes (AKA via Private Messaging) rather than dragging several other members and staff into it. That's where I think things went astray. Call me crazy, but to me, something like this should've been taken care of behind the scenes since it has to do with how someone felt about certain actions a specific staff member took. -

Well crap. It won't work even with Mono probably. It's alright though, I've kinda slowed down Ark's progress because well, I was overworking myself. -
Wow, I'm not sure what just happened here. It appears as if the wrath of God came roaring down in a fit of glory.
