I only partially disagree with this. RPG Maker has gained a lot more outside recognition recently than it has before, along with the independent game development scene as a whole. Commercial games and kickstarters involving RPG maker are vastly increasing in numbers, which RPG Maker Web supports pretty fully, to the point where RPG Maker is slowly losing its "underground" title. You have a point, though. There isn't as much incentive to run a website based on RPG Maker as in the past due to the fact that Enterbrain finally launched an English forum for everyone to congregate to, and the other RPG maker sites right now that are still surviving are those that offer something that has great support/resources for the current maker (RPG Maker VXAce.net) or those that offer a completely different site structure and allow games made in engines other than the RPG Makers (RMN). RMU's page update was a huge step forward, but I'll be honest, aside from it's GREAT remaining support for RMXP (it seems the majority of the community has abandoned that maker as a whole, makes me feel old. :( ), it has little to offer to stand up to the competition. It's sad to see the development stop for this site, though. It kind of seems like a lot of the older XP-oriented sites are going downhill from their glory days (rmxp.org/HBgames and RRR, for instance). I wish you luck on your future endevours, Marked. :)

I really don't know how RMVX Ace is inferior at this point. The addition of region ids, ability to create custom stat formulas, and better control over actor funtions make it the most versatile of the series so far. I still miss the layer-based mapping of XP, but that's about the only thing I miss from XP when compared to Ace. VX was a mistake, so Enterbrain came out with Ace to remedy most of its problems, so I don't think it was a matter of not caring what consumers think. As a company they need to make something that consumers are willing to buy, so it's impractical to ignore feedback.

You two are most definitely familiar. xD

That's awesome, Marked! I see you are still ironing out bugs but so far this site really stands out from other boards. Keep up the good work. :)

I don't know if anyone here remembers me (though I'm seeing some familiar faces across the tight-knit RPG Maker community), but I remember this forum looking like just about any other IP board. I was here back in 2007 (according to my profile, I'm highly forgetful), and I remember this place being one of the first RPG Maker Communities I was active in. Now 6 years later... Holy crap. This site looks TOTALLY AWESOME! x__x So yeah, I think you can consider me "back." :D For those who don't know me, I'm a recent college graduate who specializes in art and animation. I've used RPG Maker for over 7 years, starting with XP all the way to Ace right now. It still remains as my go-to for making homebrew video games. I generally love art, drawing, playing video games and giving critique to developers. My favorite games are League of Legends, Megaman, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Below I'll detail my current expertise and weaknesses, if you care: I am good with: + Pixel Art + Concept Art + Eventing I am weak with: - RGSS Scripting - Landscape/Environmental art - Staying organized :P I hope I'm welcome!

We're no strangers to love... lol

Looks stiff. The top colored piece generally has a pretty small body and the lineart and the bottom, colored piece has eyes too close together. You need to base your distorted proportions on real proportions. The real human face tends to have eyes that are about one eye space apart from each other. Also the human skeleton is made of several arcs, not straight lines. You just need to draw from life more.

Hmm... How old are you? Perhaps you could persist. You could try to keep your intentions of changing into a girl as discrete as possible. Then, when you reach the right age at the right time, you can do it. It's just a suggestion, though. I'm not denying that your situation is pretty difficult.

Suicide will not solve anything, in fact it is pretty selfish. Even when times seem to get rough, there will always be people who care about you, and chosing to take away your life without thinking about others is simply hurtful. Follow what other people have said so far. Even if your parents are hypocritical Christians (ugh... >_<), don't be afraid to tell them how you feel, and present them with facts. As parents they should love you no matter who you are, and they should let you choose who you want to be. Not to mention if they are REAL Christians, they would let you go your way without trying to scare you into believing what they believe...

Free ScreenRecorder?
Ratty524 replied to CrimsonInferno's topic in Computers, Internet and Tech Talk
Camstudio has a trial? When I used that program it didn't. Camstudio can record sound, though I really don't like it because when I'm recording for games it lags like hell, and I've always encountered problems saving the video file I just recorded. -
I remember watching the Dumbass Bass on killfrog years ago. I've always hated those singing fish mounts, so the flash was fantastic for me.

I used to go to CA, but I just don't got there anymore, just for the sake of being in more active places. Do you mean RMXP as in RMXP.org? I was a member there a long time ago, then I got banned for pissing off one of the mods, then I returned and trolled, and got banned again, then I returned after their ban list got cleared, and while I chose to keep my cool with them, the posts I see on that board make me cringe, so I don't even look on that place anymore. Welcome.

Damnit...

In my experience playing it wasn't that bad, at least in my experience. Not to say that it was good, however. The controls went a little haywire with that rolling tackle thing Pacman would do, and it was overal a pretty generic, uninspired platformer. Now as far as the worst game I've played? Action 52... Just look it up on youtube to get a glimpse of how hellish that game is.

Nice edits. We need more black people in games. :P

NO MORE FEMALE HEALERS IN RPGS!!!!!!
Ratty524 replied to Jesse66126's topic in General Game Development
I can understand how sick of cliches you are, but I'm not going to say get rid of all female healers overall. It all really depends on how you are telling the story. Maybe a female cleric is necessary? You can have one and not be 100% generic with your storyline. Heck, you could probably have a female cleric that has a tough, strong personality as oppose to the meek one that is common. -
Yep. Thanks for that.

Got to My Computer > Local Disc (C drive) > WINDOWS. There you will find a folder that says "Fonts". Copy and paste your font there to install it.

http://www.dafont.com/search.php?psize=m&q=manga+temple This link was on the first post, among the section where it says "downloads". I'll give that rock idea a try, thank you.

It's a bit to late for me to explain this whole crap... Q-man, who legally owned the domain (he was the one paying for the site), shut the site down in response to the manager's (Punk) constant disappearances. He's been going on saying that Punk owes him about 400 or so dollars, believing that Punk is not a responsible leader and that he doesn't truly care for the site and its members. Acknowledging this, Punk created his own site to post his event systems/scripts and whatnot, and Q-man responded by shutting the site down. http://punkid89.b1.jcink.com/ He's now located here, as well as some of Universe's members. The whole situation was kind of ugly.

From that definition, while wrestling is mostly an act, there is physical exertion, some skill, it has rules (?), and it is played competitively. So I guess it's a sport.

It's possible that you are missing the font used to display the numbers in the timer. Check the download link in the first post. As for the rock, I'm actually aware of it, but I haven't done anything about it for some reason. :P The shadow of the tree in the tileset makes that area passible for some reason, I'll fix it.

Most likely. There are some minor features that the demo doesn't have that I want at the moment. I'll be working on that and some promotional material as well.
