Gameplay video of the first level. I'm still going to stick with the same amount of levels as planned, but I am considering addons/unlockables to keep the game going. ;)

... And I thought I was going to be the first one to say you look like Harry Potter (at least the actor who plays as him in the movies). At least you seem more beefy than that pretty-boy. I don't really take pictures of myself that often.

I'd say about a month or so, if my work on this is consistent. Since next week I'm going back to college, I may not have a lot of free time to work on this project. Fortunately this game isn't going to be a long one, and I the point I am with this the work will be easier.

Demo is up. Check the first post. I'm also going to be uploading a video of the game soon.

To a point I agree with Jesse. It would be better that we come up with more original ideas, and not base it off of something that didn't really deserve a sequel to begin with. And before storyline, why don't we think of the GAMEPLAY and the CONCEPT first? It will really open up to what we want to do if we got those two figured out.

Sorry, sometimes I do get a little side-tracked from working on this. I need to finish the game's intro, which consists of artwork shown in sequences, after that I will release the "official" demo to this game.

This thread couldn't do anything more to me than make me groan. >The story and characters are more cliche than bad-ass heroes in movies. It's ok to borrow ideas, but at least PUT SOME EFFORT into making it original. > Your mapping is pretty poor. They are bare and boring, plus there is a lack of sense in the organization and placement of objects. Why would a park bench be placed in the middle of the street? They're usually against a wall or on a sidewalk or something. In addition, your nature maps look square. Nothing in nature looks perfectly aligned and straight, you had the idea with your over world map, why not everything else?

... I don't even want to say anything. ... Yet I just said something! :o

Got some new screenshots up. Check out the first post.

Pretty much just a "subscribers" tag and new privileges on RPG Manager, another forum. I just put it there to tell you what I'm doing this for. As for the timer, it's possible you don't have the font I used installed. I'll bring it up sometime tomorrow.

(I know I've already made a thread for this I want to start fresh.) For a contest hosted on another forum, where you create a game that is under an hour in length, I've decided that I want to do something I haven't really done with RPG Maker before: Making a short, kind of arcade-styled game that isn't a role playing game. Updates (Feb. 08, 09): Got the artwork for the appearance of the main villain (Grimm) and a monster (Wheelin) up. Before I release a new demo, I need to finish an introductory story, which is made up of pictures shown sequentially. Then I have to make an in-game tutorial on how to play, as I want this game to be understood by non-gamers and people who didn't read the "controls" section of the first post. Finally, I need to find a way to make the game pause by control. Stay tuned. ~Ratty Well enough with the jabber, here are the details: Story: Among the farthest reaches of the universe, there is a fairy-inhabited galaxy known as the Fairy Galaxy. Amongst this galaxy is a lush planet called Pix. The fairies that live there call themselves the Pixies, and they flutter about with their wings and enjoy a peaceful lifestyle. All of that is about to change. One day, everything on planet pix seems to be like any other day, blissful and quiet. Suddenly, a dark haze envelopes the entire planet, blocking out the sun and covers the land with darkness. Several comets suddenly drop from this haze, and what comes out when they crash onto the ground? Freaks, and other hostile creatures. They attack the citizens and wreak havoc whevever they go, sending this once-peaceful world into a panic. Up in the dark sky, a cloaked figure gazes upon the mayhem and laughs. The Space Demon, Sir Grimm of Darkness, has arrived to conquer the planet. Among the violence caused by the monsters, a small, green-haired fairy rushes to a shrine. She bows down and makes a wish to the stars, her message became a star and flew off into space. Somewhere among the Fairy Galaxy, a space ship hovers slowly, carrying a sleeping, white-haired fairy wearing pink boxing gloves and a star-symboled tank top. Suddenly, the ship sounds an alarm, awaking the fairy abruptly. The alarm has detected a wish to a Galaxy Warrior, and a planet is in deep trouble. This young warrior's name is Tinabom, and she sets her ship to warp speed to travel to the planet Pix. While this little fairy doesn't really know what she has to do yet, she has a feeling that she is about to do something big for her small size. Cast: I haven't really developed much of this part. Tinabom "Tina" Appearance Age: 150 (Equivalent to about 13 or 12 in human years) Species: Star Fairy Tinabom, or "Tina" as the name she goes by, is a cheery fairy whose powers are derived from stars. She was born with the title of a Galaxy Warrior, a person who defends planets from higher entities such as demons, and spends her days traveling in her space ship. She is playful kind-hearted, yet brash and naive. Tina is friendly to everyone, even her enemies in some cases. Dori: Appearance Age: 100 Species: Grass/Woodland Fairy Dori is one of the many fairy denizens of planet Pix. While a sweetheart, she is terribly shy and doesn't like being approached by other people when she's not aware of it. She is a lonely fairy girl who wants to have a friend who will stick by her side, which is part of the reason why she wished for a hero to save the planet. Just as the wish was finished, however, she was captured by Sir Grimm and imprisoned in his dark haze. Dori waits for someone she can call "friend" to save her. Grimm: Appearance Age: He's been around since the beginning of life Species: Space Demon Bearing an amorphous form and a wicked glare on his face, Sir Grimm finds nothing more interesting to do than to inspire fear in the hearts of people. He came from outer space to conquer the planet Pix and rid the universe of Galaxy Warriors, just so that he can fulfill his desire to see people living in anguish. Using the power to create monsters, Sir Grimm littered the planet with unnatural creatures to terrorize civilians. Monsters: These are the lists of monsters planned to appear in the game. Each is intended to have their own unique abilities. Fool Ghoul: Appearance Slow in both movement and thinking, Fool Ghoul is considered one of Grimm's worst creations. It floats gently around the area, going wherever it pleases. When Tina is powered up, it will start running away like a coward. Bonehead: Appearance This creature looks like a skull with glowing, yellow eyes and two legs attached to the bottom of its head. It moves just as slow as Fool Ghoul, yet it is smart enough to follow wherever Tina goes. Marty: Appearance Marty looks like a bat with two horns and a single eye. Because it is flying, it can pass any block. Movements can vary, though predictable. Wheelin: Appearance An enemy that resembles a wheel with an angry look on its face. It moves quite fast, yet only in one direction. Bon: Appearance Bon looks like a smiling head covered in flames. It moves a little bit faster than Fool Ghoul or Bonehead and follows the player. Once in a while, however, it will get tired and take a nap. Targit: Appearance Targit looks like a target symbol with a face. He exists only in the bonus level of the game. Smash away! Perforato: Appearance If you run out of time in a level, all remaining monsters will transform into this spiked creature. It is invinsible, and comes at you fast. To put it short: if you see this monster, you are screwed. Game Controls: >Arrow Keys/Joystick: Move Tina around the field. >Action Button: Punch (Only when Tina has collected all of the stars on the field). Screenshots: New Level 1, can you feel the sunshine? The first bonus level Level 4, Wheelin is dealin' on Tina's life! Tina doing some monster clean-up in level 4 The second bonus level Old Level1 Level2 Bonus Level Some Perforato who've already killed Tina. The goal of each level is to kill all of the monsters and move to the next. Before you try to kill these monsters, however, you need to collect items called "Sparkling Stars". At this point, any monster can touch you and you will loose lives, but if you collect all the sparkling stars in the level, you will become "Powered Up", and be able to turn the tables on those beasts by punching them. Once a monster is punched, they will be launched towards the direction the player is facing. Once that monster is defeated, a coin will appear, giving you points if you touch it. Every level (except the bonus and the boss level) has a timer. The amount of time depends on the level. The player must collect the stars and defeat the monster before this time runs out, otherwise the remaining monsters will transform into the "Perforato" enemy and will kill you. I'm planning for a total of 7 levels. One level, being the third, is a "bonus level". This level will be where the player can kill as many randomly appearing monsters as possible, to improve his/her score. That level ends when the timer reaches zero. The final level is the only boss level in the game, where you fight Sir Grimm himself. RMXP Unlimited Productions Presents Final Destiny
Ratty524 replied to EmilyAnnCoons's topic in Forum Project: 2009
Eh? Usually in my experience there are moderators active all the time, yet since they're pretty much A-holes themselves they might let some things slide. I was thinking, being an artist myself, that maybe I could do some character design, or maybe enemy design if you want. I could send some rough sketches to you guys if necessary. -
So you join multitudes of forums like I do! Welcome to Unlimited.

RMXP Unlimited Productions Presents Final Destiny
Ratty524 replied to EmilyAnnCoons's topic in Forum Project: 2009
In my files I have a script that can play flash movies onto RMXP. I don't know how to use it, but someone else might! I forgot where I got it from, however. I think it was a long time ago on RMXP.org. -
I recognize you, lorddonk. Trust me, any community will be a better experience for you than rmxp.org. Heck, rmxp.org isn't the ONLY RPG Maker community that has a truck load of members.

Dang, this forum has grown a lot. O_o

Glad everyone here seems to know who I am. It feels like I haven't been here since forever. xD -
Your other name is BellGoRiing? I think I recognize you. Welcome :)

Isn't manga just another name for a graphic novel in Japan? If it was made in Japan, it would be called "manga", in america we'd might just refer to it as being a comic. Also, the "anime style" is highly subjective. Of course we know the "shojo" style that allows us to distinguish a manga character, but the people who draw them are still artist, and not all of manga I've seen have the same style (some look even more "western", like Tezuka's style). Whether we call this a "manga" or just a "comic" I don't feel it would make a difference.

RMXP Unlimited Productions Project Vote!
Ratty524 replied to EmilyAnnCoons's topic in Forum Project: 2009
Final Destiny is the only one that really catches my attention. I would have chosen Ninja Story if it wasn't based off the Naruto series. I felt with more research as to who ninjas really are, it would have interested me. Ninjas are assassins, who may have looked more like normal peasants as opposed to the dark clothing in feudal Japan. They were sometimes also called "Shinobi" in Japan, and a female ninja would be described as a "kunoichi". However, since people aren't even sure if ninjas even existed (if that is the case, then they did their jobs very well!), it's a bit ok to exaggerate them like the media does, though can you still think outside of the "Naruto" box? -
I don't know if any of you remember me, or at least some of you might know who I am on other forums. You can call me Ratty, for those who don't know who I am. I left here once for no apparent reason, just due to addiction to larger forums (this forum wasn't as heavily populated as it seems to be now). Thus I've been through a lot of crap, like getting banned from rmxp.org for calling one the staff members a man and comparing her favorite cartoon to drugs, being a moderator for a very brief period on RMVXP Universe, joining RPG RPG Revolution and viewing the drama that has been going on there, and so on. :P So, this is kind of my welcoming back more than an introduction. I just like RPG maker forums for some reason. So... N'cha. :)

Maybe you were on before I made my first welcome message in the forums. xD Hello there.
