Hi peolpe, sorry for my english, but I will try make myself clear. I'm a Tibia player and fascinated for RPGs since I was a child. Played too much with my friends, everybody used to play RPG in my house while eating pizza, it was awesome. Almost everytime I was the Master of the RPG, creating the story, world, and everything, and now the game that most approach to this type is Tibia. But even Tibia, in my view, has his flaws, and I know I can create something like Tibia, but better. But I know nothing about scripts, mapping engines, events, etc. Hope this forum will help me in these areas, and maybe someday some of you have interest in forming an team with me to create this game. I promise it will be awesome.

Welcome!

I'm unfamiliar with Tibia, but I can say that this forum has helped me a LOT with my own mapping / scripting abilities. Hopefully you will also find it helpful.  [:

Welcome to RMU :) .

I seen a few people playing Tibia at school. Looks like an interesting game.

Thanks :) and it's a awesome game for those who don't give too much importance about graphics, but the roleplay is awesome.

I will need, and I will PM you. I've already took a look on tutorial section, and selected some to learn now, and after. Is VX Ace better than the other? I don't really know the difference... if it's better, why people still using the XP?

To me VX Ace is better, Although people like to use XP because of it's mapping capabilities, and some other little things.

VX Ace is the newst RPG Maker.

so it's like this XP TO VX TO VX ACE

XP does have it's perks tho mainly because it's older and people have made tons of stuff for it already, things like scripts, tilesets and all those other graphic things. I'm not saying that Ace doesn't have all those things just saying XP has more because it's been around since like 2005, and Ace  since 2012.

There are still tons of resources for Ace + it's compatible with VX/XP resources so yah... but you have to convert the XP stuff to VX/VX ACE

Understood. So you think it's better to start my project in VX, right? I will do it. I want to create an island first to test all my ideas, and I will learn with your tutorials, thanks for doing something like this, your work is very important.

I don't really believe that VX Ace is better than XP.I personally love XP and I'm making my project in it and if I want to make my second game in one of RPG makers I'll choose XP for sure.maybe it's because I saw more professional works in XP.I believe that if you want to be a good game dev,you should be able to share your feelings with player and I found XP more flexible for it.

I recommend starting your project in Ace. XP is getting really, really old. There's no point getting into a pros and cons discussion, but you're in safe hands with Ace if it suits your style.

Welcome to RMU

Why not? Only because of its (RTP-) graphic-style? Or what is the major difference between a VX- and a XP-Game?

Oh, and welcome matheusco! Nice to meet you! :D

I prefer XP so far because Ace seems much more limited graphically.  If they ever fix it so that VX tilesets aren't so limited, I might change over.

But in Ace you have unlimited tilesets! You have a limited number per map (like in VX), but you can change it for every map, so I guess that Ace can take more tilesets at once, than XP... right?

Yes,I really hate the way that graphics look in Ace.battlers are nice but those small characters and tilesets (Specially characters, they're like useless toys  ) are really on my nerve.I also don't like the default battle system.

Yea, I can absolutely understand that. But... have you ever seen the graphics (especially the Chars) from the High Fantasy Resource Packs for example? Within that packs are many chars, that have the dimensions of the XP Chars. They're looking pretty good, I think. So you're not bound to the style of the RTP.

You can make your game look like XP in RMVXA... it's not the same as it was in VX

and if you played a game that was made using the high fantasy graphics, you won't even know that it was made in rpg makers...

this was made with ace, I personally don't like it but yah.

From what I understand, VX is extremely limited with the tilesets.  You can only have a certain number per map, and each of those limited number are a limited dimension (you have to follow their template exactly to make it work).  With XP I can create my own tileset that's only limited by width, not height, which means I can make one tileset that has as many elements as I want, in whatever style I want.  And while I may not end up using every graphic from a tileset on every map, I'd still like the option for that much variety.

I haven't seen this pack yet but if those characters are like XP characters then trees and houses from Ace should look so small for them...

XP and Ace are really close at everything except for graphics so why should I make a game in Ace and try to fit it into XP style?I can easily use XP!

VX ACE is like XP but you have a limited Height, but you have 5 tabs for tilesets. DO NOT CONFUSE VX WITH VX ACE.

You can also have different tiles for different maps.

@zahraa

1 because it's newer

2.because it improves a lot of things in XP

3. It's easier to use.

When I used to use XP(Been using rm since like RM2K) It took me a lot longer to learn how to use it. Even now when I go back to XP I still have to play around with it for a little bit just to get a hang of it.

4. not a real reason but the name sound better  :excited:

PS. Marked I need you to up this smiley I used back in the chat it was my favorite... plz

You're right, VX and VX Ace are not exactly the same.  But I was actually referring to Ace.  Having five tabs at (at most) 512 x 512 pixels, still doesn't give as much option as being able to have one tab at 256 x 12000+ pixels.  Is 256 x 12000 excessive?  Probably.  Am I going to use every single item from that tileset on one single map?  Maybe, maybe not.  But I always have that option.  Which is exactly why I chose XP.
