As the title states, will you switch over to RMVX? This is just a little survey which could help us decide how much/if we will integrate VX forums/Categories to the forum.

Dont forget to post reasons why you voted for which option ;)

I am not sure yet. I'll wait for an English trial before deciding. I know there is an English mod, but I will still wait for the official trial.

A lot depends on the eventing and the RGSS2.

The fact that the variable reference option from rm2k(3) seems to be lacking in VX as well is not promising -_-

To be honest, no. The fact you must pay an excessive amount doesn't really do it for me. If it was a 3-D engine that cost that much, I would in a heartbeat, but these graphics are... well, not that great.

Yes, bringing back the world system is nice, but the mapping system is off to me, and with the RGSS2, let's just say I know I'll have to rewrite atleast 95% of my scripts; something I don't see as pleasurable.

If somebody releases a booted version of it. Perhaps.

Otherwise I'm sticking to XP. I already have issues with the 99$ price.

I'll steal the RMVX RTP (music and battlers and such) for my game...but I'll stick with RMXP...I MIGHT switch over...I did say I wouldn't switch to XP and I did...but that's cause it was better...running VX twice...it looks worse then XP...by the looks of it, the ABCDE thing are all the tilesets...so to add a new tileset has to be labelled like "RMVX_G" or something like that...that's what I got from looking at the demo anyway...I'll give it a shot when the full version is released, but I'm not pressing my luck...chances are, I'll stick with VX...

On the issue of this becoming an RMVX only (or RMVX Main) forum...I'd have to say no, because I plan to stick with XP, and so far this is the place I get the most help...Creation Asylum is the only other forum I visit (the others closed down or banned me) and I don't get anywhere near as much help on CA as I do here...I love this place...it's my "home" of sorts.

I agree with Emily... I've tried the VX (and I was very entusiastic vewing the site and the features) but after the trial I'm not so sure...

Yes, the RTP are good, but they are a little poor, and the tileset are too squared... And there are a lot of useful scripts and resources for XP that I'm afraid to leave...

So I think I'll finish my game with the XP and maybe I'll start a new project with the VX but... not so soon!

PS: This is my first post, so hello to everybody and forgive my English 'cause it's not my language!

I think that rmxp is better in my opinion simply cause the graphics are better tilesets and char sets :D. Also now that i found a way to make rmxp go up to 90 fps y do i need vx lol. And i'm gonna have to go with Arkbennett on this one.

I'm waiting for an official release on a demo, so this is just based on Enterbrain press, but here's my two cents:

Hand-drawn art being my strong suit as well as being one of a growing number of people using a widescreen monitor, I'd have to say I'm thoroughly unimpressed with the 'amazing' screen resolution that VX is supporting.

If it were variable to projects, or even better, user defined in-game, I'd pick up VX in a heartbeat, but I already have enough trouble scaling graphics down to fit 640x480.

On the whole, it looks to me like VX is scaling back a lot of features to, ironically, satisfy some nitpicky fan nags while ignoring the ability to actually create better end results. It's nice to see Enterbrain listening to people, but I really expected some graphics pushing meat out of the release. For as much cash as they're asking, this should jump out and sock me in the face like XP did when I saw what a graphical improvement it was.

ED: Ack, I mixed up my resolutions!

Actually, I have been using the full Japanese version, and I have to say, I'm impressed, this is basically a version of 2K3 that has a lot of the features from XP including RGSS, which has been upgraded to RGSS2. I will actually make a game with this, the mapping a graphics remind me of retro games. And I have seen people here happily commenting on RM2K and RM2K3 game graphics, what makes VX any different?! All they have done, is made 2K/3 graphics looks much less pixelated, and given us the power to edit the bits we do not like with RGSS2, what more can you ask for? So anyone who says I like 2K/3 graphics but hates VX graphics is just being hypocritical.

Sorry if I sounded a bit rude there but there was no other way of expressing that...

EDIT: By the way Emily, VX doesn't have any battlers.

Its a pretty good program! Anywho to change the fps to 90 simply add this right under begin in main:

Graphics.frame_rate = #
*the number you can change to anywhere from 40-120(120 would be good for 3d type games in xp!)

Thanks for sharing that script RMX Pirate

Well I have started with VX, so I am definitely not going back to xp

Yes - xp has its advantage - like more number of tile sets, more circular graphics, more addon scripts, which are not there in VX.

But if you look at quality, VX has more of sell able graphic quality then xp, even with its square graphics.

Come on guys this is 2008 and not 1997, those graphics which you are using in xp is seriously outdated.

I have seen many here complain that they made a game after years of hard work and no body is buying it, and some reason for that is the graphic part. First impression is the last impression. Yes story matters, but if players closes the game just after seeing the graphics, even story line will not help your game.

I was playing game like Aveyond, even though it had seriously fantastic story line , its graphics were horrible ( But I credit them for creating such a huge project and finally completing and launching it.)

Have a look at games around you, age of empires, settlers, other strategy games, MMorpgs like ragnarok, A3. look at their graphic quality and you will know why it is so important to upgrade to VX.

yes VX has its limitions, so we should work in order to update all the addons of xp to VX. Add side view battlesystem scripts, more tiles sets, learn to create auto tiles in vx which gives shadow and depth to the tiles. All this will really help us in long run if you are genuinely thinking of creating and selling games using this software.

Where ease of use comes, some one created a script which turns vx gui into xp, use that if you feel comfortable with xp only.

But if you stick with xp and create games with it, chances are nobody will buy it because games with similar graphic quality is already out there like Aveyond and even that looks horrible.
