What do you mean Ripoff. It looks like nothing of the sort. Its a complete original game just with a FF title.

Umaro Tondaro is a complete original game, would it make a difference if i called it Final Fantasy UT?

Do you mean the recent picture of Langara or the other ones? Because they're all XP graphics 32x32. The colour scheme is meant to give off a Roman-Greek classical period of Arcitecture for the city.

Some screenshots from a new system for the game, the "TACTICAL FORMATION SYSTEM", a system whereby preset formations, which can be switched up in battle, allow for the party to gain attack and defence bonuses based on where the party is. Here's a trio of screenshots to wet the appetite.

Nextly--is this a Final Fantasy fangame that actually does what final fantasy tries to do what the original series did? (or used to try when it was a good series once upon a 1990s) (as in ties together similar themes/gameplay, except with different characters and story)?

 

Unfortunately, I have a terribly horrible bias towards things that have final fantasy or any squenix related shtuff in the game :( BUT I will ignore this bias for this comment, because I am sure you have gotten enough of that; and who am I to try and tell you what kind of game you should make. I just wanted to give you a heads up on this flaw of mine... But I promise to respond objectively.

 

I am really digging the tiles you have there! They fit nice with the rtp, while giving a nice fresh look to your game.

 

I also, really like the formation system you have! I was once upon a time planning on making a public CBS with formations, but due to school and various reasons I have put aside all projects to work on my own game; which makes this even more awesome, as I am glad to see someone else who thinks tactical formations in combat is awesome! I also like the way it is designed, a system that gives the player the option to use it basically/shallow or they can take it in depth if they want to. :alright: Seriously, I am really digging your take on formations.

 

I do have a little bit a criticism for you, IMO- right now the interface clashes a bit, and doesn't give a consistent look and feel. By that, I STRICTLY am referring to the font vs. cursor graphic. I would suggest, either changing the font to a less "modern" font OR using a more "modern" final fantasy pointer. I think I have the final fantasy 8/9 cursors kicking around somewhere if you want it! (if not I can find them) personally, I prefer the modern FF cursors to the retro ones.

 

Other than that, I would like to congratulate you on have the motivation for sticking with this project for so long! I can judge by when this topic was added that you've been working on this for approx (if not MORE) 2 years, and I have mad respect for anyone who is willing to put this kind of effort into a single project.

(and this is coming from the biggest SQUENIX hater you'll ever meet; I can't say I am the biggest FF hater, because I DID LOVE 6 and 9...and not just because of the result of combining those 2 numbers xD, I loved them when they were still Square Soft, and they were pretty cool as square.......OKAY I SHOULD STOP GETTING OFF TOPIC, i have a bad habit of ranting as soon as I think of Square Enix...sowwie)

Thanks for all the positive feedback you've given. I was wondering if someone would bring up the cursor issue, actually that's just a placeholder, I do have a more modern cursor, taken directly from FFVIII but also I intend to rip the FFXIII cursor and test that one out. The reason that cursor is being shown is because those screenshots were taken by my wizard of a script programmer who just quickly threw that part together so I'd have something to show to the facebook page.

Well with things progressing at the speed they are you might not have to wait long for a demo, at least a technical demo. I'm not going to set a date like I did with the trailer last time, I ended up letting everyone down so it's just going to be ready when it's ready. The Tactical Formation System is nearly complete so I'll be able to show a video soon enough and with that done we're inches closer to the final version of the battle system, something I consider to be a really great about this game and the most important thing to get done before any tech demos are released.

The people behind it too. This is a game made by fans for fans, the fans giving the fans what we'd want in an FF game.

 

To answer the previous question, no I'm not using SBS Taknekai anymore, due to the fact that it's not very versatile in comparison with Atoa's own battle system the ACBS (Atoa Custom Battle System). This is especially useful as Atoa is actually Final Fantasy: Zero's Team Scripter so he knows how the system works perfectly, he was the one who coded the Tactical Formation System too based on my designs. We have a video coming soon.

At first I thought this game had potential. I made a comment about your Youtube trailer. I see you deleted and threaten to report me.

 

The ideas for this game are very good. The videos do look. The story and characters are interesting. The name of this game is unjust. Nothing about this game is about Final Fantasy. You could easily change the name of this game and earn profit(removing copyrighted material such as music and monsters). Just because your game is a RPG, uses FF music, and monsters does not make it a Final Fantasy game.

 

My project Dark Chaos is a RPG. However, that does not make it a Final Fantasy game.
