Hello Everybody I am a designer by profession and creating a game using RPGVX . The story is based on my comic, you can download and read the the comic from my site, comics section http://www.wickedsunny.com I will be updating the story for the game, here very soon - its based on Indian Mythology , not something which has been used a lot in games, so heres a niche area which can be used for making profit. This game will have a minimum of 3 game in series. I am a designer so I do not need any graphic help but a person who can help with programming and event part. Requirements - Just one capable person who can handle events and scripting for VX, a person with whom I can work on a daily basis, who can think out of the box, ready to improvise and innovate according to the demands of the story/ and my creative ideas. Payment - 60% - 40% partnership(profit only) for the first game. 60% (me) and 40% (you) + name in the credits + (if everything goes well) chance to work together for the 2nd version of the game. A down payment of 50 $ to start working through a proper official channel. You will have to sign a contact and NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT. All this will be done through a proper channel. the game will only be sold through - my site ( I will buy a new site for games), your website(if its there) and through other sites to whom both of us decide to sell usage license of the game, the site which will pay us more.. I will be liable to pay you your share through proper medium, wire transfer or paypal etc as per the contract and you will have to do same. Game technical details - 1) The game will have a totally different style of mapping, huge maps and very distinct non proportional scale of graphics, just like strategy or MMORPGS games and not traditional RPGS. It will be a free to roam map game something like gothic or ragnarok, and will not bind you with the story line. To have a basic know how of the style of map, here have a look at this link, these are just my first attempts and final maps will be much better http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1424 2) The game will be small - having minimum 40- 50 maps and more (depending on the story), out of these 8-10 maps will be different cities which will be huge 500 x 500 size. the city wont be that huge, but map will also contain its surrounding areas, for examples check my map link above - So events management needs to be done properly. 3) Quests will involve not only a basic story line but separate quests also, like to get a unique potion from alchemist you have to collect 8 spider legs and other items etc. Quests will also be less then a full RPG game 4) Side view Battle system needs to be installed by you , for those who do not know such a battle system for VX is already been created. You can search through other RPG forums and internet to find it. 5) Caterpillar script for party members to follow , there will be three main characters. 6) Hot keys should be added for skills and inventory etc. 7) Will have animated cut scenes with humorous dailogues (not just plain story narration), I will handle all that or hire some one to do that as required. The story needs to be humorous, so there will be many funny twists and turn in the game. 8) I have BgM ready( need to test with vx), will just need the voice over for the characters for cut scenes, will hire someone for that. will add more details soon. Aim - 99% of games never get completed, reason either creators chew more then they can bite or they make the game too big. Till the time they get it completed, graphic quality demand changes, their story gets too common etc, result- nobody is interested in buying it. So I want to create a game which is short, funny and engaging and WILL BE FASTER AND EASIER TO CREATE by us. This way we can create a game series, with at least a minimum of 3 series for this particular game. The reason why I want to use VX is for its graphic quality , its much superior then xp, at this point of time in game market retro style pixel square graphics are in great demand and this demand is going to stay for another 6 to 8 months, so even if we use in-build tile set of vx and complete game within 3 months, we have a chance to get our game through, as I doubt lot of games with vx will be out so early, + 99% will never get completed. My sole purpose is to find a person with whom I can create games on regular basis, and I have totally different and unique ideas for games, which we can work on once this first game is launched. I will be posting this request on many forums, in search of one person who fits my criteria. Currently only one person is required, but for later games more people could be added to our team. No Polr I do not agree, vx graphics is much better then xp and I cannot waste my time making a game in xp which will not even sell. XP graphics is just too outdated. VX just need few add ons to make it even better then xp. If you search on net there is already a side view battle script been created for vx. I believe the tile problem will be solved very soon and then it will be much better then xp. Its better to accept vx because if you are creating a game to sell, xp will just not do.

Arky once you step over the spike, you cannot go back on it till 3 seconds are over.this is like getting stuck and not being able to move but this is not what I wanted. Here is a screenshot of what I need- -

Got you Arky :) See I know more xp then you, lol just kidding :) The tile set I used for the footprint was default snow tileset from rpgxp I imported in vx as tile set E, but due to size restrictions it only imports half of the tiles. I do not want to turn whole field, just one tile, but need to replicate that event to more then one tile, for example a same kind of trap at different places of the map but not whole of map. Do show me ;) -
Polr Arky is right, my computer still does not let me intsall xp, does not matter from wherever i download it, You will have to write down the steps for me ;)

Now the tile graphic change is left Is there any event which helps change the graphic of tile on interaction? You were thinking about creating some events for the ice footsteps event I asked you for, the same logic will work here, if you have thought of something. :) Thanks for the script part because now I even understand how to use switches. -

Arky File is not playing, giving me some bitmap error.Iwas having the same error when loading a battle script as well. Anyhow I replicated the event in my map and its working. Actually I was trying to do everything with 2 switches only, now I understand that one more event is required to decide whether the switch is on or off. Thanks buddy. :lol: :rolleyes: -
I want monsters to spawn at random places in the map, after they are killed, they should re spawn at random places of the map (after some time) and not at the same exact places, like what happens in most mmorpgs. Is there any way to do it by eventing, or will require a script ? Please some one help me creating this. thanks Sunny

Only If I could have understand your tutorial by now, I would have already finished making my game Arky lol I cant do it in one event, I will show you screenshot of map - When I enter here snow map - it should start snowing, when I enter into grassland, I have put an event here which should stop it. When I do as you tell me, then that means I have to add switch on - to the event in the grassland region to stop snowing, but it does not stop. Please show me a screen shot for it to work, I am still not able to install xp on my laptop and your tutorials are going over my head :) Grassland event Snow map event page 1 Snow map event page 2 Also let me know, how to change tile graphic for second request regards Sunny -

Hi hope Arky can help here- I need two things - 1) As I mentioned before, I am creating one huge map, with different regions, so in one region i need snow falling but when I enter other region I want it stopped. I used the parrallel process for weather settings, screenshot below. Now the problem is when I go into a cave which is different map, I put an event in the entrance and it stops the snow falling, but when I enter the big map(different region) and use the same event to stop the snow fall, it does not stop it, maybe because there is already one event working in parrallel process in same map. I think by using variables I can switch one of the events off and other on. I am very new to this event system and also programming, so help me out please. 2) I want a booby trap created, for example when player walks on a tile, he dies with some animation effects but I want the tile to change, for example in mud, a hole appears after the player walks on tiles, he dies and game ends. I manage to kill player and end the game ( though still do not know, how to reduce the hp) but I am not being able to change the tile graphics. I need to be sure about it, or else I will have to recreate maps every time, because my game will be in small series, and if I add everything in one project the file size will become huge. Is it possible to take one project map to another project?

'Black Sun' itself sounds good, if that has not been taken already.. when sun gets black ? sun eclipse , you can use eclipse in the climax of your game, in occult and magic all of it has a lot of influence. Your title graphics can have sun eclipse pic with your main chaarcters pic etc.... just visualizing

Its not about what is better. if you talk about graphics, being a designer I would say vx has much better graphics. But it is very limited at this point of time. Limitations - Tile sets- square and not circular graphics only 5 tilesets A- E - you can import only tiles in E, that means you cannot create something fully custom made or use vx graphics and your custom graphics in combination or even import xp tiles in huge amount. No side view battle system which is horrible. pro - its very easy to use and design maps, even events are very easy, just one click, no need of scripting unless you are making something totally different. Graphics are better, auto tiles gives you loads of different options, especially the shadow function for buildings. I think instead of sticking with xp we should add custom made scripts to vx to improve its limitations and make it much better with all the functionality of xp and vx combined..
