But it may be the rtp ship tileset as well, I am not the biggest fan of rtp; however with all the other tile sets it is very possibly to make some nice maps...but every rtp ship just seems....REALLY off. they seem lacking. I think what you need pol, is a new tileset! Also pol, practice makes perfect :D just mess around, get familiar with all the different mapping controls and what not. there are a lot of little tricks you can use to make mapping A) look nicer and B) much easier. I think you are doubting yourself a little too much. Start off small, and test different things see how they look. eventually you will get a feel for it, I promise! (then you make your own great maps and just give away free points :D haha jk) EDIT: Do you ever post your maps for critique? You probably do better than you think you do. A lot of the times it's our left and right brains conflicting; as with any artwork (which is why sometimes when we draw things or paint or whatever ourselves, we think it's terrible and then you show it to someone else and they think it's great) EDIT2: @kiriashi:

Looks great! I love your mapping :) Looks like something straight out of the medieval times (hehehe I guess that's the point, so you do a good job!) Also, if you still need help with menu systems in the future I can help, but right now I am kinda busy workin on some other requests and have promised myself not to take anything else on til i fulfill my promises. But, if you still need help when I am finished I could help with some scripts :)

I like the concept; and I enjoy your spriting style :) I would like to point out that a lot of JRPGs are actually quite obscene in nature...we just got their clean north american censored versions. (but you are right, normally mature content is not involved) It's been a while since I have played a funny game so I think this could be pretty cool :)

is the common skill the same skill all the time? if so change @skills = [weapon_skill(id)] to @skills = [iD, weapon_skill(id)] just replace ID with whatever the id of the skill you want to be common is

Actually, I have made some progress so far! I found a faster way of subtracting the darkness (the sub effect I found in the other lighting script was too slow for what I was trying to achieve) and have made it not only easier to set up the events (you no longer need to specify everything in a specific order etc), I have given more control: such as quality (how layered the lights appear) and blend types. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRCGGKACEB4&feature=channel_video_title (sorry for bad quality; I am trying to find either a better recording software or better codecs to use with camstudio) I still need to: (1) Make it so only the light's that are visible update (2) Make it so you can create the player as a light source (3) Make it so if you set the light source on a separate page (as in called by a switch or something) will activate the light. (thank you to kevin.ds for pointing this issue out)

I know of PHP, but that's a better explanation from what i know...so that is why my friend was using php + IPB...because ipb is written in php lol. All i knew about php was that it is a server-side scripting language. Right now my web tech class is only on HTML/XHTML and we just started in-line CSS *yawn* i wanna start PHP and mySQL and some external/embedded CSS D: I wanna make a website. I kinda already know the syntax of javascript (as when i was messing with Sphere, i had to learn javascript to use it properly; unfortunately for that same reason I am not really that sure on how using it within a website works) I wonder if we will be touching jquery in web tech... I know we are doing js, but jquery would be cool to learn as well

Hehehe, good point. That means you actually may live near me.... duh duh duhhhhh And that is an understatement! Pretty much only zelda has stood the test of time, and some fps games are pretty good. Monster Hunter tri was cool too; but generally otherwise, it's terrible. People need to realize that there's more to video games than graphics, it's A GAME lets start making some good gameplay (it would be nice for a good story too, but i guess we can't have everything D:)

I am not quite sure what avian online is...and by default rpg maker is not online. HOWEVER, some nice people put a lot of effort into making an online rmxp system, you can find that here: http://forum.chaos-project.com/index.php?topic=3869.0 Btw, I dunno if this was supposed to be a discussion thread, but I believe something like this would be better suited for the game support forum. Whoa I missed this introduction! Hello and welcome to the forums, I hope you enjoy your stay (and stay a while :P) and I hate to reiterate what crimson said but: Jazz is awesome, FF6 is THE best final fantasy game, and Chrono Trigger is definitely THE best RPG (if not best GAME ever). And also, a fellow Ontario habitant!? I never thought I would see the day :D Northern/Southern ontario? (I don't want to pressure you to give your exact location, after all this is the internet :P)

By familiar with IPB do you mean using it or have seen it in use? I have never used it before, but I am *pretty* sure I have seen websites that use IPB + php, and they have always ran nicely. Are you planning on using IPB for the main site as well? I am not 100% sure I have seen THAT done before, but a lot of forums I have seen use IPB + php. My friend (ages back) use to use php and ipb when he was working on someone's forums for sure. If you could create the main site out with IPB as well I don't see why it wouldn't work really well, it sounds like it would be better integrated anyways.

<3 <3 <3 <3 Yes do it. Dreams are one of my greatest inspirations for everything. There is nothing sketchy about this idea AT ALL. I am not familiar is yume nikki, but I think this is a great idea.

Do you know who wrote the script? Do they still provide support? Unfortunately win32api is not my forte...at all really. Is it absolutely necessary you play a movie? If so hopefully someone here knows win32api and can help you
