I am pretty sure I know what you are looking for :) #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- # * Main Command Window #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- def main_command_window @command_window = Window_RingMenu.new(@commands, @command_icons, 108)#64) @command_window.index = @menu_index @command_window.x -= 120 @command_window.y -= 20 ----cut out code----- @bag_window = Window_RingMenu.new(@bag_commands, @bag_icons,64) [missing x/y modifications] end as you can see, the main command window's x and y are changed. Try adding @bag_window.x -= 120 @bag_window.y -= 20 although, i dunno if it will be exact, since the 2 window's radius (radii???) are different...just try that out and tweaking those 2 values until it's the way you want it.

While you are correct overall, nintendo has some hardcore gamer games(albeit not much, and generally multi-platform XD)...but I personally think if you want to do some hardcore gaming, then one should build a gaming pc. Maybe I am just a nintendo fanboy (so my opinion Is probably quite biased) but I have yet to see a single game exclusive on xbox 360 OR ps3 that I wish I could be playing. And you forgot metroid :o probably one of nintendo's more hardcore series. ANYWAYS ENOUGH WITH ME GOING ON NINTENDO RANTS [forced stop because then I would go on all day XD] This console looks quite epic, looks like I should start saving my pennies. The one thing I have always been disappointed in were nintendo's online gaming attempts *crosses fingers* let's hope the wii U has a good online system. Is there any talk of that (maybe I am blind and didn't see it in articles XD) Have you seen legend of zelda skyward sword? http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6318187/e3-2011-the-legend-of-zelda-skyward-sword-preview they've pretty much rethought the whole zelda gameplay formula...and 1:1 SWORD CONTROL RATIO

According to trends in game development that gamers no longer want to play games, but rather watch them o.O

Personally I like good graphics and I expect it because the technology is widely avaliable. However, Gameplay, replayabilty, and even music are certainly more important than graphics. In My opinion a game should be balanced. The music and graphics of a game are how that game presents its self to the player. If I can stand to look at something how can I realize how wonderful a game it is. I mean you dress professionally for a job interview to make you look good. A suit doesn't show what sk...

WOW, i just realized RMXP has support for upto 120 fps...XD why did i not know this before
-
yea that's the problem with frame rates, after a certain point it starts to almost seem to skip frames. I think 60 is a good mid point

Script Request Guidlines * Please note that these are not necessarily rules to posting. As you will notice not all guidelines will apply to every script. These guidelines have been created to help you streamline the request process. The more info you can give about a request you may have, the faster you will possibly receive the script and it will be more likely to be exactly what you need. * Also, please note that I have made a few exaggerations in my guidelines, this is strictly to demonstrate the purpose of these guidelines and why it can be important * Here is a link to our script database, you may want to see if the script you need already exists: RMXP Script Database Will add RMVX Script Database once list is completed Type As the name implies this is the type of script you are looking for. Most importantly, it would be good to mention whether it is a full script request or a modification. A full script request would be fit when requesting a completely new script/system for your game. A modification would be fit when requesting a modification to any existing script; whether it be a default script or user submitted script. If you are unsure which category, choose full (chances are this is what you need if you don't know whether the scripter would need to modify an existing script or write one from scratch) It would also be very considerate of you to tag your topic title as [mod] or [full]. This is so the scripter will clearly know what they may be up against if they choose to try/accept. Specifications/Requirements Generally when writing scripts, there is a lot more to it than just "Cool menu system." When you look at that it doesn't tell you much. To build a menu, the scripter needs to know the layout, how many party members you intend to have, what options you want within the menu, are you using face graphics, etc. My point is, there generally is a lot more than one may see at the surface to writing any script. If the script has some kind of menu or other visual aspect, try to create a little mock up in ms paint, if possible. It doesn't have to be nice or fancy, it can simply be boxes and text explaining what you want where and why or how. The more detailed the better. Obviously the specifications and requirements will vary the most from script to script. But basically, the more details you can provide, the faster the script can be made and the closer to your image of what you think the final product should be, will be. Pre-Existing Scripts As many of us have learned, certain scripts can be extremely incompatible with each other. This is due to the nature of dynamic programming and overwriting/aliasing scripts. If possible, you should mention any other scripts you may be using already. Of course it would be impractical to post every single script you may be using (if there is a lot anyways) but try to mention at least the larger/more important scripts. If the scripter is already aware of scripts you may be using, it will be much easier for said scripter to make your request compatible with what you have. If you do not mention anything, it most likely will be assumed you are using a fresh project with only default scripts; and this can prove to cause errors down the road. General Bumping I will have to go with the standard rules about bumping on this one: If no one posts, please do not get upset. Remember, people are helping for free and may have busy schedules or perhaps the script is out of their scope of abilities. And likewise, if in the end it turns out they cannot make the script (perhaps they thought it would be easier) please do not take it the wrong way or get upset. If you wish to post some kind of incentive, feel free to do so (points/trade of services) but it is not necessary, and if you do offer incentive it is good practice to keep to your word (of course unless the scripter says otherwise.) I obviously cannot force you to follow through, but if you don't, you probably will have difficulty finding people to fulfill future requests. This is obviously based on an honor system; so if you don't think you can provide the incentive it would be better if you do not offer it. Conclusion Sorry for the long post, but the reason I created this was because the more info you can provide, the better/faster the request can be fulfilled. Most scripters will probably make sure they know exactly what they need to do by asking questions before they start, so the less questions they need to ask, the more streamlined the process will become. In fact, if you provide all the information beforehand, the scripter may even be able to write the script before even accepting it.

oooooo hehe okay it all makes sense now :D EDIT: XD whoops I meant to include that i will look into fixing that.... how does your race script work? do you configure the file names into the script? and if you do that as a squirrel, do you change back to a squirrel or no? EDIT2: that is a great idea kevin.ds never wouldve thought of that! you have to make sure they can't sell it though :)

hmmm? when teleporting it changes the graphic D: lemme look into it and I'll let you know EDIT: I am confused as to the whole teleport/change graphic...what exactly do you need done? (i understand the save graphic)

So it's agreed, madanchi DO MASCOT NOW :D sorry don't mean to be demanding let me rephrase: if you'd like you should please do a mascot idea :) wow good job kellessdee way to hijack this topic and try to force people to do things *slaps self in face* but what I am really trying to say is I love your drawing style madanchi :)

no problem! Else is your friend! basically: if X is true do this if X is false (else) do this
-
While i won't deny that you are correct kevin, as what you have will work...mine will require 1 item (no item switching) as long as it is unlimited use (so you can switch back)
-
hehe you are over complicating it :D @>Conditional Branch: Switch [0064: Squirrel Talis] == OFF @>Control Switches: [0064: Squirrel Talis] = ON @>Change Actor Graphic: [Aluxes], 168-small10 0,,0 @>Text: Talisman turned you into a squirrel! @> : Else @>Control Switches: [0064: Squirrel Talis] == OFF @>Change Actor Graphic: [Aluxes], alien3, 0,,0 @> : Branch End @> just set that as your common event, call it from the squirrel talisman item :) EDIT: To explain it, basically the common event acts like a switch, when called (if the switch is off) it will flip the switch on and change the graphic. If the switch is off, it will turn it on and change the graphic. Saves you a couple of common events EDIT2: just realized you asked if it should be all in one common event...well to answer that yes, yes it should. Less is better.

@isaac: what do you think the best IRC client is (free anyways)? I am having difficulty finding good comparisons/reviews. I will keep looking though EDIT: if it makes a diff i am using win7 64-bit :P

hehehe i wonder if sometimes i think in english or code D: (no seriously i have caught myself thinking things like Sandwich.new or if Sandwich.is_a?(Good_Sandwich) Sandwich.new; i think it's a curse.) EDIT: @diag: no problem man :) I knew there had be an easier method, just had to look into it a bit

no worries, the correct forums will come to you. just try to think of the core, or most basic purpose of the topic (sometimes that helps :P) if you really can't decide you can always ask a mod/admin. and i don't mean to deter you from trying it yourself. In fact I encourage you to try! That's the best way to learn, I wouldn't be able to help for a while anyways (well I can answer any questions issues you have) I was just throwing it out there because I am greedy and wouldn't mind being part of development of this specific system :sweatdrop: just keep in mind this system would be pretty complex, so be patient and be willing to write, then rewrite, then scrap then rewrite again. If you want some advice I might suggest messing around with ideas you have for getting it to work, section at a time until you are comfortable with the concepts; then try to piece it all together.

D: i am sorry i will tone it down if necessary, but with that exact number of posts i couldn't help myself

if you don't feel like messing with a switch every time you make a message, put everything in the common event in conditional branch, in that conditional branch select the 4th page, select script, and put !$game_temp.message_window_showing then it will only handle the input IF the message IS NOT being displayed.

I am going to move this to game development discussion, it would be better suited as a discussion than game making support. As for the system itself, this actually sounds pretty cool. I was actually making something *similar* to this (in terms of skills) for a game that I have put aside for now (but it wasn't as deep really, http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/blog/72/entry-199-yay-blogssszz/ if you were interested in reading into it, it's the universal spirit action system...maybe it can help for inspiration) But i really like the concept. Implementing it will be difficult, if you plan on doing it; it would be best to start from scratch although you would *really* need to plan it out (on paper) completely first and maybe get a little more familiar with ruby and the rgss library. In the future I could possibly help you build this, however like I have been telling everyone, right now I am behind on script requests and REALLY can't accept anymore (at least not until I finish these current ones I have promised, I REFUSE to break promises.) Good luck :alright:

Awesome, it sounds like you will soon become a good scripter. You definitely have the right attitude :) And any programming knowledge helps, like you said the syntax and usage is easy to pick up (especially if you have programmed before) it's the flow and logic that is harder to grasp, but is generally the same/similar across all languages (there are some differences depending on the paradigm, etc.) As for the font portion, the easiest way to do that would be to just include the font you are using in the game download. I have never looked into it myself, but there is a script floating around that installs missing fonts when the game is first opened. I will link you to it once I find it, which you can use or learn from (or both). I don't think you'd be able to just use a font directly from a different folder as it needs to be installed on the system in order to be displayed correctly (but there definitely is a way to install it through scripts) http://www.ruby-doc.org/core-1.8.6/index.html <-- use this api for rmxp ruby...rmxp uses version 1.8.1, but i don't think those APIs are available any more, ruby is currently in 1.9.2 (which is faster and has some differences than the 1.8.x versions) @ your last post: Looks nice :) so far. For the "limit" text, I can't tell you exactly where to put the Draw_text command, but you are on the right track. Whatever sprite you are drawing the bar too would be the best place to draw the text as well...just look through the script and find where the HP/SP text is drawn and do the same for limit. also, you will be able to find the window height, etc. within that window class. I guess we kinda went off topic, but at the same time we were on topic (and it was partially my fault anyways). The only thing I can say is that it may have been a better idea to have edited your other post instead of double posting (at least you added to the topic though) Also: Game Making Support is usually the best forum for little issues (or large of course) so don't be afraid to make a new topic, you never know when people may have a similar question, but if it's in a topic titled something else, they may be less likely to find it. After all, it's best when people can learn from other people's issues as well (imo) If you ever want to discuss programming/scripting let me know, I am addicted/border line obsessed with it and always enjoy a good programming discussion :D

Well as long as you are enjoying it, that's all that matters! I have noticed that a lot of battle system scripts written make setting up a little too complicated for those who are just learning the scripting portion of Rpg maker xp...which kinda defeats the purpose XD this is why I vow to one day (when I have less workload on my hands) to write a battle system that is easy to set up, and highly compatible :) I'd also like to re-iterate: if you are having difficulty getting the positioning correct I can help. and finally, do you have any previous scripting/programming knowledge? (not specifically Ruby)
