  1. No problem, but will your ship display properly? Like will there be depth? Can the player still walk behind the cannons, the center mast etc?
  2. I think your best bet, would be to simply combine the two desired tilesets. This way you can make your ship how you want it, with the dock, water and walls etc, and not worry about pathing and layering as you can assign it on the tileset. If you want, I will combine your desired tileset with the ship tileset, the only down side is you will have to setup all the flags etc. for the extra parts of the tileset. If you do want me to combine them for you, post the non ship one, (I have the ship tileset), and I'll combine them for you.
  3. Ghen Moran requires more than two people to beat and HAS TO BE BEAT before you can even fight Alatreon. So saying you beat Alatreon with 2 people is irrelevant because without online you never would have beaten Ghen Moran.
  4. You are correct, my bad, confused the two for a second. However as correct as you may be, you didn't address any of the other things I said. Also Ghen Moran HAS TO BE BEATEN, to pass HR 30.
  5. This is not an argument this is a discussion, arguments are when you say things without proof or reason. Alatreon is not the online boss, it is the offline one(also fight able online), that one can be solo'd naked. Ghen Moran is the online boss(only available online) and it is an elder wyvern, much MUCH bigger than an Alatreon, and actually requires a sand ship to fight. Killing it with 2 people is impossible(can only drive it away, if lucky), 3 people is doable but takes the entire quest time. The handheld games had online REMOVED, not 'not included' totally different, the hand held versions have all been programmed with online and it was taken out before launch. As an example the Lao-Shan(also elder wyvern), is the giant boss for the 'online' on monster hunter freedom(first hand held), also only available online(multi-player). Same rules apply with this one, literally impossible to kill with 2, there just isn't enough time to bring it's hp down, but again it can be driven away. The online bosses are always at the end of the first of two tiers for your hunter rank. After beating the online boss you then gain access to the fun missions, IE rare wyverns, two at a time, etc. as well as the + carves and gear. Removing online play essentially ensures people who don't have 2+ friends with the system and game will never be able to experience the full aspects of multi-player. Elder Wyverns have been included since the very first game(fatalis) and are a staple of Monster Hunter. They always require more team work and problem solving skills, since instead of simply hack and slash, you must interact with your environment in order to damage the wyvern effectively. IE using cannons, ballistas, gongs, giant spikes etc. Playing offline is supposed to lead to playing online which will lead to you defeating the elder wyvern and moving onto the last teir of Hunter Ranks. This format they have followed in ALL their games, regardless of whether it was hand held or not. Removing online play, as I said before, literally cuts the game play in half, as most players wont ever see or even know about the second tier of the game.
  6. Online is a HUGE part of the game. EVERY Monster Hunter has content that can only be unlocked online(multi-player), and only offline. On top of the fact that the online is what allows MORE replay, since they add the event missions which yield unique carves, and there for unique crafting results. Neither of you are obviously in a Monster Hunter clan, which I am(we play all monster hunter games together since the first), and no online literally cuts the game play in half(unless you know 2-3 friends with the game). Not only do I feel they will not bring it here, I as a fan I hope they DON'T. Since I probably won't buy it(as won't many others who play for online). I don't even see how you can condone a game that is designed to be played with others in a 4 player setting, to be not online. The only reason it isn't online in japan is because it is not that big of an issue there since their population density. So not having online but having system to system play is acceptable for them. I totally agree that it will be a long time until 4, all the more reason for them to take their time and do it right(include online). Monster Hunter has gotten more and more into the online, they have emotes, chat systems, food bonus, unique multi-player missions, clan followings and many other reasons to include it, it is far more big a deal than either of you make it out to be. Some of the stuff can only even be carved from online monsters, and vise-verse, the game is totally designed to play offline and online in conjunction. If you are even going to start with precedence then you may as well look here as you will see there are more times Japan gets copies of the Monster Hunter series than us. The reasoning is that it is far more popular there than here(NA). Friend Codes would only solve problems of clans and friends playing together. Yeah there are hackers and trolls, but that comes with most online games and is far from fare to use in an anti-online argument. I for one have met tons of excellent players who I have played other games with, as well as future installments of the series. If they want to make an offline Monster Hunter game, I'm am all for it. But programming a game with online features specifically intended to be played multi-player and then dropping the function is far from the same thing as not planning any online. On top of all this, have you guys ever beaten the last boss, not the offline one, the online one(since each Monster Hunter has 'two' end bosses). Good luck beating the online boss with only two people, it's impossible unless geared past that fight(IE with downloadable content carves/gear which also requires more than 2 people). That fight is hard with 3 people, let alone 4 on the first try. To me this is what is fun for Monster Hunter, end game online, doing the neat rare missions, 2 wyverns, kirins, huge wyverns etc. So if I buy it I need 2-3 friends with the handheld and the system to even play the extent of the game(which is why I joined a clan). In conclusion, why the hell would I play Monster Hunter offline when I could play Skyrim? Monster Hunter is an online game with offline capabilities, not the other way around.
  7. Agreed, good job. That is much smoother and seems far more realistic. Keep up the good work!
  8. If you need feedback, then yes, turn it into a poll. If you don't need feedback, then people won't try the map.
  9. -Post it in your status update. -Add a poll -Add more content to it
  10. I don't know about other aspects of the shop system, but the donate function is currently working. I tested it by donating one RMXPU point to you(Heretic86). The donation system is how you pay for stuff that costs points, simply type the name of the person you wish to give points to, search, then type the amount of points in and voila!(all in the donate section, located at the top of the shop window).
  11. Hmm, yeah that was one of the methods I thought you may of used. The other method I thought was just linking each event to switch, and have page two to a different switch with the new graphic that would be on the floor. In theory using that method you cold make a path change to more than two types. Ha ha, aye, points are quite easy to make if your active and add a lot to posts as we normally do. Yeah I hear ya, it sucks to create art just to have no one to appreciate it. That is definitely one of the main reasons I started the testing shop. Keep up the good work, I look forward to testing some of your stuff in the future.
  12. Agreed with Heretic, it looks kinda like forward moon walking, need to have a slight lift in the leg that would not have weight on it as the other leg is on the ground. Not a lot probably only a few pixels in difference. I did notice no head motion at all. Need some kind of head bob, or a back and forth motion, ideally both.
  13. Wow, that is actually very impressive, I have a few ideas how, but I definitely don't know 100% how ya did that, great stuff. That was seamless and reminded me of a 'lost forest' type idea. I would definitely like to see that same effect in a wooded area. P.S. You inspired me to start a game testing store, so people will never have an issue getting their stuff tested. Link here.
  14. I found zero bugs, and had zero lag in it's current format. Since it took me 20 minutes and I didn't even take every route after the second split, I guess it will take minimum an hour to complete this map when it has monsters, provided the player tries every route. An hour is an awfully long time to not allow the player to save. If you have no item that brings you to the entrance of a dungeon, I suggest a save half way up, or some way to leave the dungeon half way up. No player should ever have to go back and play more than a 1/2 hour if they die. Understood about tight quarters in cave, to me it just feels like I should be able to walk over the flowers and mushrooms, so I was forcefully walking into them and had to train myself to avoid them(not instinctual). It definitely achieved your effect. I see what you mean about the outside, yeah, live and learn for sure, but I never would have thought it needed to be bigger outside until you said it. Don't worry about setting your effects to match random brightnesses, if you feel it will be an issue, begin a new game with a quick setup function. You know one of those screens with dark and light spots and it says on it "adjust your screen until you can't read this" Then at the top it says "If this is the only writing you see your brightness is fine". This way you just make them set it to your game specifics(within reason), rather than trying to make it optimal for everyone (impossible). I have my brightness slightly down from stock levels, and the whole game seemed perfect in light levels. The Lantern effect itself was awesome, worked exactly as intended. Yeah those walls look amazing man, I definitely learned that technique from you now, felt very very realistic, like randomly formed caves, rather than a carved out box. I did not notice that loop, It was most likely in one of the sections I skipped, I passed at least 6 intersections in which I did not travel every route, and only came to one dead end after the second split. If you really need feed back on that one part, place the starting spot there, and send me a new copy, I definitely don't want to run through the maze again lol. Side Note: You definitely were not talking too much(this time, wink), it's not about the amount, it's about the content. Just read what you type and think, "Do they NEED this information?". The only thing in that whole post you didn't need to tell me was that the spring is not evented yet, very on topic. Time is valuable. I am definitely willing to test near completed stuff for you in the future.
  15. I am currently using this script, I must say I love it. I was wondering if it was possible to remove an entry once added, this way you can make multiple entries for the same character, remove one, add the next one, and have different descriptions. I require such a system, as characters will change factions, etc. and the information will change as well.
  16. Just got to the top, took about 20 minutes. Got 'stuck' before the first 'hidden' path, had to back track twice, but found it eventually (perfect imo). Found the entire thing more or less instinctual. Felt like it was in two sections, definitely need a save half way up, before the paths split again. I definitely felt like I was climbing a mountain, and could more or less ascertain my whereabouts by the direction I was heading, the layout seemed realistic. I was not able to memorize the route my first time through(which is good), but I was able to go through and systematically check each path without getting confused(also good). It was a little frustrating to stop dead on flowers, mushrooms, and leaves. The music was way too loud and over ran the sound effects/background music. I would definitely consider that map complete. Great job mate, keep it up!
  17. The only thing I noticed was that your version number is not the same as my version number. I am on 1.0.4 and you are on 1.0.2 My assumption is that there is compatibility issues with your up to date windows and the not up to date RMXP. You said you downloaded it from Enterbrain, did this change your version number to the correct 1.0.4? My further assumption is that the game is not properly being removed from your computer. I suggest scouring your computer making entirely sure the game is no longer present(RTP, multiple installs, shortcuts etc.). Then get the newest version, and make sure it reads 1.0.4 after installed. My only other suggestion would be to try installing it somewhere different rather than the same place every time. Try installing to the normal 'Program Files' rather than the 'Program Files(x86)'. It seems you have tried most of everything. Back up what you have on your computer and give it a format. Make sure it is entirely up to date after the format, then install RMXP. I know this is a last resort, but it seems like you may be there. If it doesn't work after a format, then you know it is something major. EDIT: Argh, sorry didn't realize it was a necro post.
  18. Your map looks nice, you appear to have used the layering to its utmost potential. My personal opinion is that it looks cluttered(but realistic). Just based on screenshots, I would rate it at least a 6/10. EDIT: Cleaned the post.
  19. Questions I immediately wondered: -What will YOU be doing? Recruiting 16 people is a massive team, what are you planning on contributing? -What is your past experience with RMXP, and with leading a big team for a project. -What kind of battle system are you looking for? Live action. turn based, tile movement, etc. -What time period in the Digimon world will the game take place? Are you using new characters, or old ones from the show? -How long of a game will it be, is there any story planned yet, how many hours of game play are you aiming for? Tips: -All your information should be in the first post, edit posts 1 and 2, remove the info and replace it with (reserved). -Talented spriters are extremely hard to find for free, as they are normally working on something. -Iron out what you want for your combat system, and then if no pre-existing script meets your needs, then request the script, in the script request section.
  20. I believe all you are missing is a self switch(third from the top right, on the first page of event commands) Add a self switch(A) to the first boss event to when the battle ends(win or lose), PAGE 1 Then create a new page and add the self switch to the conditions section. PAGE2 This should solve both your problems as the event with the auto run will NOT be auto run on page 2, so your second boss event can be auto run. Also, if you ever need to 'auto run' two events at once, simple toggle the parallel process button(just bellow auto run) on at least one of them. Alternately with the self switch you could also make it so that it is 'Self Switch A' for when boss is defeated(first time), and 'Self Switch B' for when the boss wins. PAGE 1 PIC Then create two pages after the first one, and make their conditions self switches A and B respectively(see pic below) Make those two pages have dialogue on them("ahh you beat me, i'll get you! next time' and "I won!Serves you right for fighting me") and have both pages be on auto run, then put the same self switch( C) on each of the new pages(2,3). PAGE 2 PIC PAGE 3 PIC Finally create a last page(4), with no event commands in it, and the condition set to 'Self Switch C'. PAGE 4 PIC Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is kinda what you were thinking. Any time you want a 'one time use' event you will need to use some kind of switch or variable, and multiple page. IE Chests, Some Dialogue, Story Events, etc. Alternately you could use the erase event command as well.
  21. I couldn't agree more with bigace. I suggest you start with something really simple, like a hermit that lives on an island. So one house, with an indoor and outdoor map, one world map, and one other area linked from the world map. Or like a fairy tale or fable. IE little red riding hood, or the three little pigs. Something short, with 1 of everything(indoor, outdoor, dungeon). As you do that you should get inspired and get some good ideas, write those down much as dragon, and pol suggested, to plan for your real project you can make after you get some of the skills and practice much as ace suggested. Think painting fruit before you paint a portrait. Also, this site has a chat program you can frequent in order to ask questions, as well as use your status update to ask quick questions regarding eventing etc. Ultimately, you can always download someone else's demo and learn by example, see how they made, doors, talking npcs, etc. and learn the eventing system that way.
  22. I nominate GrimmHallows for his work with music, creating his music shop, and being an overall nice person on the forums. They have qualified for the following areas: Contributor Kindest
  23. Lost an internet tab, and couldnt find it anywhere, so I got to use the auto save feature for my thread post I was updating and saved me literally hours of work(thanks a ton). On a related noted, after loading my auto saved thread post, every apostrophe ( ' ) turned into this: ' It was a minor pain, but no were near as inconvenient as having to retype and format the whole post. Figured I should mention it non the less. On an unrelated note, I noticed a 5 star rating system for some threads, I was wondering if it was some how possible to have this visible before selecting a thread as well as while viewing the thread. Also I noticed I can not see the 5 star rating system on any of my own threads(I assume so I can not rank myself), but am still unaware as to their ranking. I was wondering if it was possible to make this visible as well. I also noticed the new tag system(gotta say I love it), but I noticed the comment section is gone from the threads. I did however check an older thread out and saw the comment still available. I was wondering if it was possible to give us the option of both a comment and a tag. My reasoning is that I like to keep thread titles short and to the point, then I like to have the comments section to give a brief but more detailed description, enticing the reader and explaining further, then the tags work to group threads together into common topics without having to use a search function as first resort. These of course are just my opinions, but I must say overall this is definitely an improvement.
  24. I have been following it as well. Considering there is no online play and the community is outraged, also considering they announced the making of Monster Hunter 4 literally days after announcing 3G, on top of the fact that Monster Hunter 4 has extremely new features added to it. The game is likely to do poorly and they know it, and far more likely Monster Hunter 4 will be released in both(Eng/JP). They seem to be working harder on MH4 then they did on 3G, as well as before it(3G) even launched and for the same system(3DS). News released in September in order(with a few days between each) went: -MH3G release announced -MH4 creation announced -MH3G no online announced Take from that what you will, but considering 3G has no online capabilities, I am more looking forward to 4 anyhow. This scan from a UK magazine is the only thing suggesting it will be released. However it is nothing but the hypothesis of a writer. http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Mckrongs/Monster_Hunter_3_G_-_Possible_Europe_Localization%3F Where as back in September they were quoted as saying nothing was planned for an English release.
  25. I have been a Monster Hunter fan since the original for Playstation 2(still have the pre-order white T-Shirt). To the best of my knowledge this is only being released in Japan, and no English version is planned. Also, they are not adding any online play, only local play. However, Monster Hunter 4 is currently being developed for the 3DS and will be(unless cancelled) in both English and Japanese.
