The word god doesn't automatically mean Jesus Christ or Christianity, where did mentioning them come from? Now who has a biased view point? I never even mentioned either of those two concepts until now referencing your use. I only pointed out that in AA's official literature they want you to give yourself to god, I and they never said/say which religion/god. Please do not put words into my or their mouth(s). Thought like that is the problem with their system it's a crutch for people who can walk fine on their own (speaking from first hand experience). Nothing is more powerful than yourself, you have all the power you need to stay clean, and Everyone has the potential to get clean by finding the strength within themselves, and that is what they aren't teaching.

The 12 steps listed are from AA.org, that's their official website. Alcoholics anonymous want you to give yourself to god, it's in their official website literature I have shown. You are in control of your own destiny, no 'higher power' vague or specific is needed. 12 step programs make victims out of people who feel helpless. AA's methods hasn't changed in near 100 years of use, so their numbers of success will be relevant forever because they don't change their methods. Their OFFICIAL website says god, you can't refute that, it is fact, and how they wish to be perceived, period.

Definitely need more information to go on. I would think it is simply a matter of aligning the players in a non straight line on the screen, same with the enemies, then if your graphics are all the right angle it should look correct.

Ask and you shall receive. Watch the episode of Penn and Teller's Bullshit on 12 step programs. The information is from a closed 1989 study they(AA) did internally that the show was able to obtain. Here is the episode on youtube, watch at 20:47 (but I suggest watching the entire episode). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU2YliYttnQ Here is an article that cites Harvard medicine for their facts which talks about normal recovery rate being 5%, and talks about AA. Read up and be properly informed, don't argue with me without evidence contrary because I have tons of evidence for. http://www.orange-pa...ectiveness.html Prepare to stand corrected, not much clouds my judgement if anything. That's great it worked for you, it does work (about 5% of the time, like any other method) but don't tell me they don't expect you to give yourself to god. Your program may not of but the history of alcoholics anonymous and most 12 step programs are secret recruitment for religion. This is fact and if you would like proof of this I can easily provide it. Canada AA OFFICIAL Site- Read steps 3, 5, 6 and 11. United Kingdoms AA OFFICIAL SITE - Read steps 3, 5, 6 and 11. Their OFFICIAL PDF used world wide - Read steps 3, 5, 6 and 11. Not ALL '(blank) anonymous' programs as those have such 12 steps but alcoholics anonymous and the programs they run through The A.A. Grapevine, Inc., which are many many other '(blank) anonymous' programs, are all religious recruitment places. That is a fact based on THEIR literature, not my opinions. I consider myself unbiased in most if not all matters, especially those I am properly informed about.

Custom Battle System (man, I hate doing this...)
Jon Bon replied to Pyramid_Head's topic in Requests
I would think your best bet would be to maybe start a new thread regarding your help for your project and specifically with that script. Then try and keep your original post to one question, and each reply you make a separate question to make it easier to help. I personally use that system so I can and will help where I can, and I know others do as well. I am glad things are working out for you. -Cheers! -
Minecraft isn't harmful, you're missing the point. It's use in moderation that is the key to taking part in potentially addictive behavior that is not harmful in small doses. Like not eating 9 hamburgers in one meal so you don't get fat, or 1 glass of wine/beer/spirit from time to time, same theory. But if you can't use in moderation then yeah stopping is the only other alternative.

Was told about this recently, it's Smodcast of Kevin Smith (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), and he talks about Batman stuff his (and my) favorite super hero. Kevin Smith is a huge idol of mine (no pun intended) and I have followed his work back since I rented clerks on VHS from the corner store near my house, way back when. The cast is pretty good, his first guest is Paul Dini one of the writers for the 90's animated batman tv series. They are talking about such cool industry stuff, so if you are into Batman, and comics in general this is for you, started June 1. -Cheers http://smodcast.com/...an-1-paul-dini/

AA has an at best 5% recovery rate, like any other recovery program, and is actually a religion where you must give yourself to god, and they use it to convert people rather then help them, they don't even publish scientific findings to validate their work . What's the recovery rate for doing nothing at all? That's right 5% same as AA, so it works, but no better then one can help themselves (do the research). I personally beat drug addiction with zero outside help (hardcore addictive drugs, not pot). I also played mmos since the Ever Quest days and stopped that a few years ago after almost a decade of being addicted. I come from an abusive family which I left the second I could. I used my will power alone to change my life, I didn't want the one I had so I changed it. so please don't tell me what a human is or isn't capable of. We are far stronger then those that oppress us or want our money for a fake fix would have you believe. I have lived 'on the other side' and I got away all on my own, I am living proof it's possible. I have an addictive personality I now know this and have wasted part of my life finding it out, now I make the choice to not partake in addictive behavior, even though of course I want to, that's called will power due to discipline. I would like to think I'm not abnormal and anyone can achieve what I have/did they just need to know it's possible (which I did not at the time, but fixed myself anyhow). I stand by my statement. There are some that cannot help themselves, but that is not the majority. I suggest the people here watch the show Penn and Teller: Bullshit (two autodidacts such as myself), where they tell you the bullshit that we all believe. Season 2 Episode 4 - War On Drugs Season 2 Episode 10- 12 Step Programs Season 7 Episode 3 - Video Games Season 8 Episode 9 - Self Esteem Yes it's a television show, and yes they make money off of it, but it's been their passion to debunk lies since the beginning of their career in the 70's. They are both members of mensa and extremely intelligent and well rounded. They are my top idols, and I agree with 99% of their views even though we come from polar opposite backgrounds. My opinions and views I expressed relate to wasting time and being addicted to stuff, please do not take my words and attempt to apply them to things such as loss of work, or outside problems I specifically did not mention. I quoted myself above to show that I had already foreseen these types of problems and addressed them accordingly as an exception to my statement. Please do not minimize what I have overcome alone, by saying it's not possible. Addiction and drugs can be over come alone, that's all I was saying. So do not take my words and use them as an umbrella statement, that's just an ignorant misuse of their context.

Variety is the spice of life.

@ Jon Bon- I get what your saying. But I think when some people hear that saying they think about things that arnt generally free (like in my case, incidently :( ). I think ill go for a walk tomarrow, and finds someplace to write some more of my story tommarow.

I agree with everything except for. No bad situation can justify making it worse. If you have the internet, the help you need is readily available for those that would need it. If you live in a free country you are free to fix what ails you. Unless whatever oppresses you also oppresses your entire country, or you are helpless to do so due to age or other disability there is no excuse. Being an addict doesn't make you a victim, and being a victim doesn't make you an addict. There was once a day not to long ago where if you didn't 'do' something each day such as 'work' you didn't eat or have shelter. Days like those are still a reality to some today, even in free countries. Addictive behavior and time wasting is like the murder of free will. Luckily that's the beauty of free will, I would fight for your right to waste your time just so I can have the right to judge you for it.

Custom Battle System (man, I hate doing this...)
Jon Bon replied to Pyramid_Head's topic in Requests
No problem at all. Breath of Fire is on my top 10 fave rpgs of all time. I played since they first came out, up to 4, but I can't remember the battle system clearly. I think tankentai will; work well it's my preferred system for now, very classic feel. I look forward to what you make, feel free to post a project thread on this site, I would follow your game progress, and lend aid where I can. -
Custom Battle System (man, I hate doing this...)
Jon Bon replied to Pyramid_Head's topic in Requests
The system is best used if you build your game onto their demo, rather then copy and pasting it into your game. To edit the character positions check the script called '* SBS Config'. I would think the three man thing would be you just never adding 4 players, and positioning the first three to take up the screen evenly. Seems like this would all work to me. Test it out, and feel free to post back here with any further questions. -
Custom Battle System (man, I hate doing this...)
Jon Bon replied to Pyramid_Head's topic in Requests
I believe that is achieved with the graphics and animations. The trick will be making all your sprites and battle backs, and skill animations, on a diagonal view. There must already be some stuff out there, maybe even some sprite templates to work from. I believe if you got the correct graphics that side view battle system would work because you could easily change where the actors and enemies stand to match the angle of the graphics, and if all your animations and such were also created with that in mind it would all look appropriate. I believe what you need is the correct graphics. -
Custom Battle System (man, I hate doing this...)
Jon Bon replied to Pyramid_Head's topic in Requests
At first glance this looks like a standard side battle system but with a slight angel change on the view. I would think that you may be able to use something like the tankentai side view battle system and simply make sure to have 45* views on your sprites and battle backs. Then you would need a custom battle menu made up so it was similar in design. Without a video it's tough to see exactly what kind of battle system this is, but I think you should be able to alter a pre-existing system rather then make a new one, but I could be wrong. -
Definitely welcome mate! If you dig around I believe there are some great tutorials on here to learn from for scripting, even some of our active and helpful scripters have used some of them to learn if memory serves correct. Don't hesitate to post a thread when you are learning too to get help if you ever have any questions. Cheers mate!

Hiya, welcome aboard. It's always great to have help when working on a project, so that's cool you have that help. We all have to start out somewhere, so no worries. But for the record I consider 'noob' derogatory, an insult, where as a 'newb' or 'newbie' is just a new person to something, and introducing yourself as such is awesome because then people can give you the help you need. There are lots of talented and helpful people here so don't hesitate to post your game ideas, pictures etc, and get some advice. We have scripters and spriters who frequent here as well and help out where they can as they can, so feel free to post request topics too if you really want something in your game that might be past your current skill. it's also a great way to learn. Anyhow welcome on board, glad to have you and hope to see you around. -Cheers!

They look like some solid kicks to me man. Not my style, I prefer tan and taupe for my sneakers mostly, but I like those for sure. My styling tips would be to wear clothing that is comfortable first, and stylish second. Where what feels good, and what you like, don't worry about fashion it's irrelevant. Einstein didn't brush his hair or wear socks to say the least, look what he accomplished, then Paris Hilton who is known for fashion will likely have no permanent place in history. In the grand scheme of things your mind and body are more important then what you adorn them with.

[rmvx-ace] Final Fantasy Ace (Side Project)
Jon Bon replied to Bob423's topic in Early in Development
I like the video mate. It reminds me of Final Fantasy 2. Looks great so far man, keep up the awesome work. -
Agreed. I remember hearing he had 'no free time', I wouldn't either if I spent 8 hours 'addicting' myself. I used to play mmo's, but they are such a waste of time if you get sucked in. If someone were to spend 8 hours a day writing a book, it would make them money no matter how bad they were just based on the sheer volume of time they spent on it. I try to be as productive as possible, I even watch tv as I work when I need entertainment so that I am multi tasking my time. I remember how it was to be younger and eat my time up with whatever I could fit in it. But now I think back and wonder what I could have achieved with the time I wasted. The difference between an accomplished person from a young age and someone who gets a 'mcjob' is dedication and passion, nothing else. The majority of the richest people on the planet didn't even finish post secondary school and some even high school. Why? Because they worked hard, didn't waste their time, and got what they wanted for it. Addicts are those of weak will, nothing less nothing more. I have quit more addictive behavior then most people have started or even know about. If you enjoy it and it's not harmful, go full force. If it's starting to effect your life in anyway shape or form (like 8 hours a day play time, or low hygiene) then just stop playing because that's pathetic in my opinion. You're a human, no one thing should prevent you from eating, sleeping, cleaning or shelter, otherwise you're an addict that needs help. To each their own, and as long as you are happy that is all that matters. But happy today doesn't always mean happy tomorrow. I would tell any mmo player to take a long hard look at their life and think to themselves 'Am I truly happy sitting here every day, with nothing real or permanent to show for it?". I asked myself that and the answer was 'no', so I stopped playing them.

Regardless of the chances of this story being real or not there is no real downside to believing it as truth and honoring his memory, other than perhaps looking a fool for believing a lie. Should one choose to disbelieve it there is a chance to offend those close to him and sully the memory of him, making one look quite foolish as well. There for I choose to risk being an honorable fool, than simply a fool. I will there for believe this as fact, honor his memory, and consider this matter closed (to me).

I'll back that. But the way of the future of the games themselves is through independent development and alternative financing methods. Check this out, one of my most favourite series, they weren't at E3 and aren't part of the big companies, yet fans literally gave them almost millions of dollars with no time frame promises to make their game. Unfortunately the main companies who make games now are stuck in their old ways, but soon the passionate and dedicated people who make up the companies are likely to strike out on their own like the guy who invented the shadow run series. http://www.kickstart...adowrun-returns Watch the first video, and notice on the right their goal was $400 000 and they got 1.8 million through fan interest backing. E3 is cool and everything, but to me I don't watch it to see what games are coming out, you gotta search underground connections to find good gems way beforehand like the upcoming title Shadowrun. E3 is better for checking out what the console makers are up to, and what cool peripherals we will get. I do have high hopes for the next gen of systems, but for games my hope lay squarely in the hands of the independent developers like the people from Harebrained Schemes, and others aspiring to one day be like them. Instead of worrying about E3 and stuff you will likely just hear about on television, and internet ads or from friends, why not give people like the Independent Games Festival your support and following, this was their 14th year after all. Makes more sense to support people who make their art for free and out of passion then being continually disappointing with the cookie cutter corporate factory games pumping out clones like some Star Wars army. Support what you like, stop talking about what you don't, quit giving the big guys the satisfaction. http://www.igf.com/01about.html

I definitely like the story, but not your story telling abilities, but heck that's just editing. The content is excellent, I could picture it as I was reading it. The main character is great, nice creation and tons of depth. I agree with ark on the mining town as well, perfect, simply and not too simple, enough to be accurate. Will it be a single hero adventure, or will he meet others to join his party? I saw you mentioned a combat system, but I am unfamiliar with the letters, what type of combat will it be? Anyhow, great stuff, I like it and your maps seem realistically accurate, I will definitely pick this up when it comes out. -Cheers

Lol. Stop assuming everyone wears pants...Why else do you think my picture is only neck up and me grinning with my provocative eye brow raise. Heh, anyhow welcome aboard mate!

It doesn't take allot to 'know somebody enough' in this day and age, people are stupid with their information, especially the stupid people who use personal information as passwords, rather then nondescript numbers and letters. I would social engineer my way. Find someone with 'more money then sense' and go to their facebook, twitter, etc account and like you said target them directly, as an anonymous stranger. When I do gain access to their stuff since I picked my 'mark' (confidence artist term) wisely it pays off well. Rather then literally 'fishing' for useful passwords and accounts. Quality versus quantity. Both methods work, to forget one or the other is silly. People are stupid enough to use their personal details for their super important stuff. I would bet any money at least one person reading this has their birthday as their pin code (shakes head).
