  1. Well, once I get to that stage, I'll probably release another open beta like this one, so you'll be able to test it then.
  2. I've actually considered this in the past and it's certainly not a bad idea. Once I've dealt with everything in the 'to-do' list, I might try this.
  3. Thanks for the feedback guys. I've implemented your suggestions in beta 2, which can be downloaded from the original post. Also, it appears that Teehan+Lax (the guys who made the GUI elements) have changed their licence since I downloaded it. Unfortunately, their GUI is now for designing only and cannot be used in software :( . So, sometime in the foreseeable future, I'll be making graphics myself based on what I already have here. Given that most of it is based on gradients, it shouldn't be too difficult.
  4. RMXP Pool 2.5 - Beta 2 Introduction It's certainly been a long time, but the first beta for RMXP Pool 2.5 that I showed off back in November 2010 is finally ready for release. For those not familiar with RMXP Pool, it's essentially a database program for RMXP resources that allows you to download resources from an online database without the need to go through forums, broken links or file sharing websites. The program currently supports all types of RMXP resources and allows you to download them to a folder of your choice as well as directly into your projects. In a nutshell, it's similar to Scrive, but completely online and for all types of resources. New Features Redesigned UI Ability to download to a custom folder Ability to download directly to a project (Somewhat glitchy) search functionality Screenshots (Please note that some minor changes to the UI have been made since these screenshots were taken.) Known Issues There are numerous issues with the search bar, for an example if you type something and then try to erase your text, the previous text won't disappear. Also, searching only seems to work if your term is at the front of whatever you are searching for (i.e if I were searching for "Blizz-ABS", 'blizz' would work but 'abs' would not.)To-Do List\Ideas for Future Features Iron out glitches Implement ShinyToyGuns' theme from the competition Implement a download queue system similar to that of Formless' releases Add a 'favourites' system Remake the GUI graphics IMPORTANT: The .zip file contains two .exe files, one is for the main program (main.exe) and the other is for the splash screen (launch.exe). Please ensure that you run 'loader.exe' or the program will not work. Download Mirrors Mirror 1 - Mirror 2 - Box.net Special Thanks Teehan+Lax for the GUI elements used to make RMXP Pool's interface Feedback on this new beta would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Please note that this version will no longer function, since I've moved the database to a new server and am working on a new version of pool.
  6. Hello all, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Since a few days ago, when I log into my Gmail account, it tells me that my account has been disabled due to suspicious activity (not just gmail, but also youtube and anything related to google). The reason for this is likely because I am in England at the moment, visiting a tonne of relatives, so the account has been accessed with lots of different IP addresses. Anyway, the only way to unlock the account is for me to enter my phone number which I entered when I created my account. The problem is, about a month ago this phone was stolen. I managed to get the handset back, but the SIM card never turned up. I can't reset my password because "my account has been disabled", so the only way to get my account back is through my old phone number which I no longer have because my SIM card vanished. In any case, even if I did have my old SIM, I would still have to wait about a month to get my account back. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed the problem? Correct me if I'm wrong, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to contact Google specifically about this kind of issue. Thanks
  7. A lot has changed with RMXP Pool since the last update, so I thought I'd update you guys with some new information. Firstly, the RMXP Pool website has moved. You can now find the new website and forums at www.rmxp-pool.tk . The reason for the move was because my previous host does not allow FTP access. Now that I have a server with FTP access, it's now (theoretically) possible for people to upload files to the database in real time. Secondly, I am unsure if this will be permanent, but it appears that I will now be developing RMXP Pool instead of Formless. As such, I have produced a "GUI test" for what I am calling "RMXP Pool 2.5", which you can see below (note that I have not actually started programming anything, so a release is a long way off): What you can see in the image is what may turn out to be the default theme for RP 2.5. As promised in the competition, ShinyToyGuns' theme will also be included and adapted as a theme to fit the new UI, once it is finalized. I would appreciate some feedback on the UI and default theme. Thirdly, I've been thinking and one of the things that people always said to me when I released Pool V1 was "Why should I use this program over a website which has RMXP resources?" So, I've come up with a list of possible ideas that could be integrated into the program to answer this question. Feedback and suggestions would be good here as well. Idea 1: Include RMXP games as well as resources in Pool, attracting more people to the platform and providing a free file host for games. Idea 2: Include RMVX resources as well as RMXP ones, encouraging more people to use the platform Idea 3: Allow people to collaborate on projects through pool. This will allow people who are working on a project together to chat and swap resources through the program as they are both developing Idea 4: Include the option for RMXP Pool to automatically download resources into a project folder What do you think of the ideas and the GUI?
  8. For free editors, take a look at Pinnacle VideoSpin and Debugmode Wax.
  9. For a while, I've been writing reader reviews on IGN. Up until now, these reviews have only ever been in written form, however over the past week, I have managed to summon the guts to do both a written and video review for Portal on Youtube. As, I have now finished it, I would like to know what people think of my review. More specifically with the video review, what I am concerned about is not my ability to review a product, but my voice, as I am one of these people who cringe whenever they hear themselves speak. I'm a little worried that I sound nervous in the review, as if I'm trying to do a really bad English speech and that my pitch jumps around too much. So, I would like the opinion of some other people in order to help myself improve on future reviews. Also, please note that the written version differs in wording from the video version. 10. IGM isn't awful , it's just very different from RMXP and Enterbrain kind of throws you in there without guidance, so the learning curve is quite steep. Only get it if you can figure out how to use it well.

Project Organizer V2 - 1.0 By Evil Cabbage After a countless number of times that I've wanted to throw my computer out the window, I have finally finished the first "V2" RMXP Utility - Project Organizer V2. The interface has been condensed so that everything is on one screen and many new features have been added, along with the new graphical style which I will be using in all my new programs. Features Progress and Developer Log Systems: Every project which is displayed in Project Organizer will now have it's own "% complete bar" and developer log associated with it. When you choose to edit a project through Project Organizer, it will also launch a "Developer Log" application which will be displayed in the tray. Once you have finished using RMXP, clicking on the tray icon will allow you to record what you have achieved that session in the Developer Log and will also allow you to adjust the % complete for story, graphics, audio, mapping, scripts and the database. Once you have selected a project, you can easily view it's log by clicking on the appropriate button on the side. The idea of this system is for you to be able to use to calculate how much work you are getting done, and from there being able to set yourself realistic goals as to the completion of certain aspects of your project. Project Packaging: After selecting a project, you can pack it into an extractor which you can customize. Open and test play your projects on the fly. Quickly perform various cleanup operations, such as restoring the database, deleting save files, adding the RGSS dlls and changing titles Coming in a future update:The ability to install a battle system which is comprised of a large number of scripts through the program (i.e GuibiDs TBS, XAS ABS, etc). The reason that this is not in the program now is because I have yet to acquire permission from script authors to allow me to use their scripts.
  12. Hold on - 360 emulator?? Did you actually get it to work at all, because if you did not, I doubt it would ever have worked because a CPU that can emulate the 360's CPU would require almost quadruple the power of the 360s actual CPU in order to emulate - any person who knows a lot about emulation will tell you that if you ask them (they get really ticked off if people ask them for 360 and ps3 emulators)
  13. Your English is pretty good. I did not actually know that English was not your first language. Personally, I am learning French at the moment and I can sort of speak... a little "broken" French.
  14. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll post an updated version tommorow.
  15. I have never actually tried to make a game in RMXP before, so what I am going to attempt to do is make a "shortish" game by myself in order to get my skills right before tackling any major project. Here is a screenshot of a map that I made earlier: (Note: It does not cut off at the top in the actual map, I just couldn't fit it all on one screenshot.) Since this is a game I plan to release publically , I would like some feedback on the map. Please be as brutally honest as possible, because mapping is one skill which I really need to improve on.
  16. As I understand it, if you downloaded the game illegally, the fact that it is in another language makes no difference. However, owning a legitimate copy which installs and is not a rom and then patching it with something is rather grey. It would certainly violate the EULA, but licence agreements are not always judicially valid (depending on where you live), so in that situation I believe it is a "grey matter".
  17. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but you could try this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5917/ If it becomes a problem for you, I would just go with a new ISP. By the way, how many GBs do you get per month (just curious).
  18. Thanks for backing me up on that. But, just like the other people have said - there is no chance of you getting caught if you download roms - especially if you are using a direct http:// download site (that dos not use filehosting services). Lol, the only way they could catch you then is if your ISP decided to go through all the logs of your internet history for no reason, which - let's face it - they won't do unless they are contacted by a big nasty company like Nintendo. As far as ROMS and ISOs go, you guys are luck that it is black and white in the US. As far as I know, in Australia, there is no black and white line for anything that is considered "grey", it is just illegal. As far as I know (I may be wrong) it's actually illegal to make ISOs of proprietary software (basically any DVD), simply because the licence you obtain does not give you the right to a second copy.
  19. Although you will never be caught, it IS illegal whether you own the game or not. To illustrate why, imagine you go into your local DVD store to buy a DVD. Now, obviously, if you purchase a DVD from the store, it does not make it legal for you to shoplift another copy of the same DVD for "backup purposes". But, in any case, like I have said before, just like every other kind of piracy, it is certainly illegal, but very few people have not done it and your chances of Nintendo giving a stuff is about 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%
