  1. Hold on, are you saying that the program is crashing when you click on a category? If it is just crashing when you click on a category, then it is most likely a bug with the program. Go into your RMXP Pool root folder. Is the database actually in there? (It will be stored in two folders "Terms" and "Files"). If you use the program and the database is not in there, then it means that the database is not downloading for you (and I'm not the only one who gets that problem!) The fact that the database is not there then causes the program to crash. So is it ever there? If it is not, I can explain how to manually insert the database if you want. If this is not the problem and the database does download, then could you please describe your problem in more detail.

    Um... what exactly is this?
  3. Well... I guess if it was a cutscene, you could do this. -Get an audio editor -Create 2 audio files, 1 is the music in your cutscene and the other is what you want in battle. If you were able to set up a system where the cutscene would run for a specific time, then this would work. I hope this helped!
  4. Sandfall Character Pack: Strange, the .ini seemed fine and I downloaded it and this also worked correctly. Not sure what's happening there. Final Fantasy Menu: Fixed. Thanks for the bug report. If you have trouble downloading the database through the program (like I did), then if you want me to I can teach you how to update the db manually, if required of course.
  5. Actually Marked, there have been a ton of Dragonball Z Games. There used to be a site for them (www.picceta.com), but it recently closed. The most famous one is an Rm2k3 DBZ game called Dragonball Z Remix Unloaded, just Google it.
  6. Okay, I am making a Doctor Who RPG (based on the time war) with Gary the Duck, so such a thing is going to require a HUGE amount of custom resources. Before you ask, I am using a custom incarnation of The Doctor. This topic is for my tilesets and autotile requests. I don't mind if these tilesets are edited RTP tilesets to some degree. Tileset Requests: -Modern University Grounds. I will need this to contain all the standard walkways and building, etc that you would find in a regular university, along with decorations such as trees, flowerbeds, signs, etc. -Modern University Inside: -Inside a modern university. Must at least include support for the following: lecture rooms, halls, offices and dormitories. A vending machine would also be nice. One other thing I will need is things that can be used to create a "messy room" (for the dorms). That is all I will need for now, as I will request resources as I need them. If you are able to make some graphics for me, then I will not only credit you in the game's forum topic, I will also include you name in a really cool opening theme similar to this (which will play at the start of the game (I made that opening by the way.): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e25BdgC7ac
  7. Okay, I am making a Doctor Who RPG (based on the time war) with Gary the Duck, so such a thing is going to require a HUGE amount of custom resources. Before you ask, I am using a custom incarnation of The Doctor. This topic is my requests for various char-sets for the first part of the game. If possible I would like to be able to have both walking and running char-sets for The Doctor and Luna. Char-sets which are going to have to be custom made: -The Doctor Face: Short-ish (hair), light brown hair with some small curls at the front and sides. Green eyes. Clothing: White polo shirt underneath a kind of silk light blue dining jacket with matching light blue trousers. He also wears black boots and a black bow tie. -Luna (Companion) Face: Long black hair that is stuffed down the back of her shirt. Brown eyes. Clothing: "Casual" modern clothes. Doesn't really have to be anything in particular. Something that a uni student might wear.\ -TARDIS Important Note: The TARDIS is going to need a base anmation and another with it's door opening and another one for materialisation/de-materialisation Description: A police public call box from the 1950s Char-sets which don't have to be custom made and can come from any source (within reason.) - just supply me with a link if you know of anywhere containing charsets like this -Various Modern Characters to represent university students. -A couple of professors. If you are able to make some graphics for me, then I will not only credit you in the game's forum topic, I will also include you name in a really cool opening theme similar to this (which will play at the start of the game (I made that opening by the way.): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e25BdgC7ac
  8. Alongside the usual RMXP Pool stuff, I am also going to be making a game with Gary the Duck based on Doctor Who. I am planning to play an .avi "Opening Theme" at the start of the game that is styled a bit like the titles in Doctor Who itself. I have uploaded this to Youtube for everyone to see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e25BdgC7ac What do you guys think?
  9. As some of you may know, me and formlesstree4 are creating RMXP Pool v2, which is a combination of RMXP Pool and Scrive. It will (hopefully) incorporate all the good things in Scrive and RMXP Pool as well as adding these new features: Automatically updates the database & terms file on Startup (if you have an active Internet connection). When you download an item, the program automatically marks it as downloaded and prevents you from redownloading the same item twice. The ability to set your own download location (rather than defaulting to C:\My RMXP Pool Downloads\<filename>) This is a random bid for feature requests. Either post suggestions here or in this topic on RMXP Pool's main site: http://www.rmxp-pool.com/apps/forums/topics/show/1861955-rmxp-pool-v2-suggestions?page=last
  10. Hello everyone! Over quite a while, I am planning to make some eventing tutorials. The tutorials will get harder as you go along and you will learn different things (at increasing levels of difficulty) in each "Section". I have provided a poll for feedback and I would also look to hear your opinions in this topic too. Section 1: Lesson 1: Events at Our Disposal This tutorial will explain how to create an event and how to receive help if you are unsure of what something does. If you know this already then please skip this and move on to lesson 2. -Download Lesson 1 Lesson 2: Some Simple Dialogue This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating a simple autorunning scene where the player speaks to a character. This tutorial will also teach you how to make an autorun never run again without wasting a switch. -Download Lesson 2 Lesson 3: Conditional Variables This tutorial will teach you how to use conditional branches, switches and variables. -Coming Soon....... Check Your Skills! This is going to be a test of some sort to see what you have learned. I will update this later. -Coming Soon....... Section 2 will involve more complex eventing, such as paralell processing and the like. Section 3 will show you how to create some event systems, like event title screens, menus and possibly an ABS.
  11. I will happily participate in this. Recently, I have been writing some eventing tutorials which I was going to post on RMXPU, but seeing as this came up, I will adapt them for this.
  12. For me, definitely a Doctor Who RPG.
  13. The recruitment topic URL for my project is broken. The URL is (or was) http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index.php?/doctor-time-recruiting-t3960.html -Thanks
  14. I was just curious what tilesets don't you guys like mapping with. For me, my choices are a bit unusual. I hate mapping with any town map and I also don't like the mountains tileset. Suprisingly, the caves don't bother me too much.
  15. I've seen Avatar. It's quite good, but it's one of those movies where you really have to like the type of genre to enjoy the movie. If you look closely at the way the plot is structured, you start to notice that the movie is kkind of a bit of a mashup of Halo (the style of the humans ships, one of which looks exactly like a hornet.), Eragon (mental bonds between animals and nature.) and Colonisation (speaks for itself)
  16. I didn't realise that most people didn't actually plan out that much of their RPG. I am kind of like you guys. I would like to be a person who writes a 20 page storyline, 2-3 paragraphs on each character's personality and draws every single map before they even go near a computer, but sadly I can never be bothered. However when I make my game, I tend to split the game into "blocks" of content beteween storyline events. What I will do is I will do all my mapping for one block first and then the eventing. This makes me put more effort into the mapping, as I know I can't event until ALL the mapping in the block is done.
  17. Out of curiosity, how much effort do you put into planning your RPGS? What level of planning is nececary. I find it helps to write a short narrative.
  18. Okay this is a list of Fantasy movie cliches. If anyone can think of more, PM me and I will add them to this topic. Some of these kind of apply to RPGs as well. The Rule of Fauna: No matter what magical land that the movie is set in, even if it is not meant to be "our world" will still have horses, deer and other animals. Dragon Sexism: If dragons are in the movie, then there will be either no females or just one female. There is never more than one female. The Rule of Clashing: Nearly every fantasy movie ends with a massive battle between two armies. The Rule of love: The lead male always fancies the lead female, with the female not fancying the male or vise versa. Early Oldies: The lead hero is always under 20, anyone older than that is "old and wise". The Rule of Deception: Someone will always turn to the baddies side. The Ruke of Biasm: If you have a clear good and bad side then the good side will usually be a kingdom in distress or a group of rebels and the bad side will always be an evil corrupt empire.
  19. The first one was Bigpond Australia, the one I have now is with Dodo Australia. They are email accounts provided by ISP's. Bigpond deleted our email account when we changed to Dodo, which they did not tell us that they were going to do, as the old email still continued to work for about 2 weeks before Bigpond shut it off. But anyway, it's a bit typical but Protexis finally replied with my serial........... about 2 weeks after I originally contacted them *groans*. A message to everyone in the future: Make sure you backup all your product keys. Don't make the same mistake that I did.
  20. I have a huge problem. I bought RMXP about 2 years ago through Protexis and have been using it on my laptop since then. Recently, I upgraded from Vista to 7, which reinstalled Windows and placed the whole of my old Vista OS into a folder called "Windows.Old". I need to get my key back from Protexis, but our email address has changed since I bought RMXP, so I can't access my original serial. I have tried explaining this to Protexis but I have tried contacting them both through their own contact forms and directly via email from my address and our family's address, but it has been ages and Protexis have not uttered a word in reply. There are several obvious solutions, some of which I will need help with. 1.) RMXP must store it's serial info in a file somewhere in the Windows directory. If anybody knows what this file is called, please tell me as I still have the files from my old OS, so I could simply transfer the .dll from Windows.Old to my new OS' Windows folder, so to speak. 2.) The second option is simply purchasing RMXP again, although I would rather not have to do this as I am saving for an external hard drive. 3.) I could of course download it illegally, although this would be my absolute last resort, and please don't tell me where to find illegal downloads and forget I mentioned that. If anyonr has any other suggestions, then please tell me!
  21. Hello Everyone! I bough RMXP about a year ago and the licence key email was saved on our old email. The problem is that recently, we changed internet service providers so our old provider shut down our emails, I was unaware that they were going to do this, as the emails continued to work for two weeks after we left Bigpond. For now, RMXP is safe on my Vista laptop, but I am little worried because if anything happens to my laptop, then in terms of RMXP, I'm kind of screwed..... Does anyone know any way that you can either find out what your serial is through RMXP itself or can you contact Protexis and use a "lost serial" department. I can give them all the details that they will possibly need, so details won't be a problem. I would rather not go on to illegal ware sites and get a keygen as 6/10 have viruses. -Thanks.
  22. 1.) I did not use a programming language at all. It was made in a "drag and drop" programming free application maker called Multimedia Fusion 2: Developer. You can get the trial here if you are interested 2.) I host the files myself. After a user uses the submission forms here to submit a resource they have made, I download it, scan it for viruses and then upload it and integrate it into the RMXP Pool database. The database is basically a load of .inis in a .zip folder. If you would like some more info, RMXP Pool does have it's own site here: www.rmxp-pool.com
