No, it's the other way around. Anime are often drawn in a manga style.

Sorry Marked, but your whole post is all wrong. There are in fact quite a few left to right, english manga.

The problem with this is that a good story needs to know where it's going. Also, skip everything except the last sentence, and start from there, filling in the past details later.

Wow something I actually know about. The variance is the percentage by which the damage can vary. After you've chugged all of the math for the damage output then every hit will do from 15% below to 15% above that damage. Hmmm. I'm a little fuzzy on Rate. I'm pretty sure it's the chance of hitting, but don't quote me on that. As for the second hit, I'm pretty sure it has to do with applying status ailments, but I'm not entirely sure. It's been too long. Yeah, I've kind of taken the whole battle mechanics apart and looked at how it ticked. You can really do a lot with it if you learn how.

Oh no. Why did you tempt me? There's a reason I'm never allowed back in the art room, and a reason I steer VERY clear of any sort of graphic making program. It's too late now though. What's done is done. I'm giving you ALL a very fair warning. This might hurt to look at, and in some cases cause temporary blindness, and insanity. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED PS: Having issues getting the picture in the post here. PPS: This was a joint effort between my sister and I.

Hot damn! A near month without a single entry into my blog. This needs rectifying. Writing is going smoothlay. The newer sketches are nice. Some writing is getting done, some music. Things are still a chug chuggin' along. Yeah, pretty boring eh? Maybe you should check it out. http://z15.invisionfree.com/RPGMakers/index.php?

You know I couldn't leave you, my adoring fans stranded for long. Yes, I'm back. Why did I leave? I can't even remember, but whatever. I've gotten much better at composing music, and at this time that's all I plan to contribute to any projects (besides the usual game advice). So this is just a brief update. Feel free to break out the streamers and confetti. The one and only

Journey of Heroes: Crystals of Chaos Beta
Maph replied to EmilyAnnCoons's topic in Early in Development
Wow how'd I miss this? I'll be glad to beta test for you. I have MSN, and that's it. maphgyro@yahoo.com -
If you don't have the funds you should try out some of the older, cheaper stuff first. As of now you're missing out on several generations of really good console games.

Wow, you've got good taste in video games. I notice you're mainly a PC gamer. I'm not going to make a list of games I love/play, because it would take far FAR too long. It would encompass every era of gaming, and almost every system (the Virtual Boy, CDI, and Sega Saturn are exceptions). I can't really think of any games I hate besides the three Zelda CDI titles. Oh, I hate all of the sonic games past Sonic & Knuckles. I thought "Mario's Missing" was pretty bad. I don't like Bioshock that much. And one of the Unreal games, I'm not sure which. It was Unreal Champions 2003 or something like that, but that one was pretty bad. I think that's about it. Sorry I didn't make a list so much as a paragraph.
-
Oi. It's not that you shouldn't mention it, or I didn't like it, but it's probably not the best idea to state it as a matter of fact. That's all.

Well I've been a forum goer for many MANY years on any kind of forum you can think of, and if there's one thing I know it's that bringing up one's own beliefs tends to destroy a topic, and get a lot of hurt feelings all around. It wasn't so much what you said as the way you said it. It was the "remember this world is run by the law of attraction" bit. I'm perfectly fine with you believing what you want, and even communicating that belief, but please try and refrain from sounding like everyone believes the same things you do, because THAT can be dangerous. I should have you know that I'm not particularly against "the law of attraction". You would've gotten a similar reaction regardless of the belief you pushed in your post, including an aethiest view (remember there is no god that runs this world etc etc.). So don't feel like I'm attacking your beliefs specifically.
-
First, please pay attention to the post dates before posting, as that was a necro-post (barely). Secondly, please do not spout that babble about the law of attraction. It's up to you to believe in it, but don't go around acting like everyone believes the same things you do. Good day.
-
I should warn you that you should pay more attention to the post dates. What you've done is considered necro-posting, and is against the rules, but while we're on the subject; I prefer newer RPGs to older ones. I really don't see where you guys are getting the notion that older games have better story, and newer ones have better gameplay. The original Final Fantasy barely had a plot. You were just strung about collecting crystals for no apparent reason. If you really look at it, story lines are developing to be much better than they used to be. FF XII is filled with political intrigue, and the characters are each their own person. In FF I your characters didn't even have any lines. They were brainless automatons who's only purpose is to kill things. Now I've never played the original Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior outside of Japan), but I have played Dragon Quest 8, almost to completion, and I keep hearing it's the most in depth, and story driven in the series. Now, by my standards DQ8 is really light on story and character development, but it all really works with the style of game. That being said I can't even imagine how possibly predictable and lackluster the story of DQ1 would be. There are aspects of every RPG that I like. Old and new. There are also those that I don't (save a few really good ones). I can say without a doubt though that most new RPGs are better than most old ones in gameplay, and story.

Nice to have you on board. I hope you enjoy the community.

Woah people! We have our own chat service! Seriously! Go up to the "Community" bar at the top, and the second option should be "Chat". If everyone just opens this up in another window or something than we'll actually be able to communicate simultaneously! I think a big issue with the popularity of this board is the sometimes long lag time between when a question gets asked, and when it gets answered etc. It always seems to take a while for things to get noticed. I figured if people could be more actively engaged than they'd have a reason to keep coming here. So use the chat feature!

Hello folks! As some of you may or may not know I am the current project leader for what was once known as the RMXP Unlimited Community Development Project. Well the "community" wasn't doing much to help so we kind of "broke off"; whatever that may imply in this situation. To try and rustle up some interest I've decided to start production on a bare minimum demo. We plan on using a lot of original sprites, and music (we already have some of both) as well as some custom scripts (the level up/battle system is still in the works but we'll need somebody eventually to actually make the scripts). Anyway I made this thread so that I can compile all of the questions I have about RMXP. I haven't used the program since December, and I had only used it for about 2 weeks, so as you might guess I'll probably have a lot of questions. So instead of making a stream of new topics for each question I've decided just to create this, and I'll ask all of my questions here. (When I actually started typing this I did have a question to start things off, but I've fixed it since then, but there'll be more). For those interested in the Project you should check this out. http://z15.invisionfree.com/RPGMakers/index.php Thanks for your time.

That's right boys and girls! A Demo is in production. We don't have anywhere near all of our materials for the project, or even for the demo, so I'm going to be subbing in the RTP stuff until we get it all finished, then swap it out in a later demo. I plan on making this demo comprise at least half of the first act (about 2-3 hours). So don't miss out kiddies! The one and only

Arrrg. That's the fatal flaw with the forums. It doesn't keep "New" posts around long enough for people to realize that I've actually posted something. Hmmmm, I actually just went and looked at the forums, and actually looking at the entirety of what I've written so far, there's really not much there. It felt like I had written a lot more, so I can see how it looks like I kind of just gave up on it. Well now I'm aware that it's going to take more time than what I've been putting in to it. This project isn't dead. I have at least a half dozen people willing to help IF the story gets done, so that's our first priority here. Ryanrulez, we should probably talk over MSN or through PM's or something.

Wanted: Help with Scripts, Sprites, Tilesets, battle Graphics
Maph replied to superdeer's topic in Early in Development
Wow, you're a better internal mapper than I am! I noticed you don't have any sections up for game balance/design (don't worry, most people never even think about it). Well if you need someone to flesh out a battle system, and make interesting boss fights, then I'm your man!
