Well I just forgot to fix them up.. whats the point of points in the first instance? You can buy things. Well we can all buy things with our points, but you can't coz your new.

D: how good of an animator are you? lol. Just a simple two legged walking animation can be rather complex, depending on how cartoony you want to go. I used to be into animating but I stopped that I ended up on websites.
-
Haha that would be nice except there are two problems. First, I can't animate something that complex, and second its probably not subtle enough I'm always getting their jobs where there is zero description.. eg 'make an animation of some sort', 'make a design'... Those are quite ugly lol I'm talking about flash animation. More ideas??
-
Good morning, So, I've told that I need to come up with an animation for a builders website. Rules Sorta subtle.. or at least dont go overboard Something thats builder related (if possible) Oh thats all, probz didn't need a list So the animation has to be somewhere in the following header: And before you say 'Uh Mark, that's ugly I thought you were a designer' well hey, clients request. Also I don't just do the design, I kinda do 100% of them. Only. Though I google most of it. If I end up using anyones idea, i shall reward them handsomely. With 2,000 points. If 2,000 doesn't seem enough to you, well, did you know the points system is currently disabled? That's 2,000 more points than any other member has earned in a month or two Thanks in advance.

If you have an account on those social media sites, you can like, subscribe, follow etc. our account so you can follow updates and have your own input in the development of the site. Make sense?
-
Great, thanks :) It's mainly for if you're interested in the development updates (if it even shows up on peoples feeds), but it will also be used after that, hopefully by more staff members as well.
-
Lol ok then. If you catch me in chat then I'll let you have a look. I don't mind letting people in for a quick look, but its really not stable enough to use full time. On top of that, the lack of production in the content areas may be disheartening. Really there is very little to see at the moment, but the forums appear to be almost fully functional since I'm using GDU full time now to post. Your personality suits being a tester. So if you want, you can be one of the first members to use it full time so you can complain to me all you want about whats not working. But I got no idea when that will be, I haven't worked on this for weeks.
-
I don't want to offend you but, I honestly have no idea what you're trying to tell me Like my new icons & menu items? I guess that's what we're going for at the moment. All the main content sections up in the main menu. I guess things like project cards and one-off type of pages will be linked in the footer. We'll see.
-
Ok, I'm gona do a test coz I got a wee update. Tell me if you got it on your facebook.
-
Awesome :) I'm not too sure on the facebook 'page', the last thing we had was a 'group'. I think since you liked it, if I make a post on the page it will show up in your facebook feed right? I really gotta learn this stuff :P
-
Um.. what? Update: I've added a bunch of social features. I'm planning to use these to communicate dev updates, ideas and discussions for before the release, and then typical usage after the site is live (such as contests, news and events). So, everyone should head on back to the homepage and like, follow & subscribe: http://www.gdunlimited.net/ You can the links in the footer (not a final design)
-
.. you guys, that image is from December 12th 2010, which I stated. It was part of the development of the design. Thats all.. Speaking of customizability, the plans are: the homepage is a content portal, any new content will be shown and updated live. However, one of the concepts of GDU is getting relevant content to each member, as relevant is possible. Part of this is the ability to customize what you want showing up on your screen, and thus The dashboard. Your content portal. All relevant content related to your activities on the website, the content you choose, all delivered how you want it to be delivered. That's the concept anyway. This also has live updates. As in if you go away and come back and leave the browser, or you're reading something, you will be notified of new content. If you're already viewing your dashboard, the content will simply add itself to the list. Its all about usability.

Suggestions for a 'jobs' section
Marked replied to Marked's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
Thus the upgrades :P You're absolutely right about that. It's an issue..RMXPU may have been ok a few backs but its really turned into a bit of a wreck. I need to get the new site up ASAP, but I have a ton of work to do and no time right now to work on it. Also regarding the commercial services, people may be like when they read that, but its really about not aiming for a mediocre website. I large, successful website would have such a feature, and you wouldn't spend all that time writing a site for a few posts a day. So, develop and then hope for success. I'm aiming high :) -
Ironically, it looks like your face. Green, with envy. By the way, if you are referring to my last post, yes, it does. Real thing's here http://www.gdunlimited.net silly Noob.
-
Perhaps RMXPU was down, the blog links are just using an RSS feed. I'm glad you like it :) Yup, the green is here to stay, there's no way I have enough time to thinking about changing the design. This was actually my first concept design, (12th December 2010) I hope everyone forgets about this so they get excited when it actually goes live

Suggestions for a 'jobs' section
Marked replied to Marked's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
Yes. It doesn't work, does it? I wish I could explain the vision of this I have in my head. To create an analogy.. the current system is like a bicycle.. and I want to replace that with a Ferrari. Ahh I like this. A way to rate the services and therefore take precedence in the listings. Of course everything is integrated. I'm writing the profiles myself coz IPB default just doesn't suffice. It needs to be developer orientated. We're game makers right? The social stuff is essential for community, but profiles need to display a user as the developer he is (coz all new members WILL be developers ). The GDU system gives IPB the job of posting topics and member management and just about ends there, and this for optimum integration. My vision was seamless integration, no limits, thats why its taken 13 months just to get a forum operating It could be great, but perhaps impossible due to time constraints. I could ramble for hours.. -
What do you guys think of a 'jobs' type section where members can list their services (commercial, but mostly otherwise) to the community. Remember how we had that field called 'Services' in our profiles with the idea that it was to let other members know they could send us a PM and request something? The concept is similar to that except more efficient. It would be more or less a listing of members offering their services in a specialized section. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking: Incentive system (points, badges) + leader board/stats of most jobs accepted Ecommerce system for those offering commercial services Icon/Links in profiles/topic view if offering such services Automatic inactivity moderation for when service providers leave the site Specialized so members can set that status of the job, eg 'complete' So what do you guys think of this idea, and what are your own ideas for it?

Best way to download and convert videos?
Marked replied to Joey's topic in Computers, Internet and Tech Talk
I think is a good one http://www.alloksoft.com/videoconverter.htm And why I say I think I mean I'm not sure if its the program I have or not. -
I can think of like 50 better reasons to leave the US lol I don't believe it has a chance of passing so.. meh. I'm too busy enjoying my actual freedom.

Code? Does it say you are logged in at the top-right? Code will show up on the homepage for those who are logged in, but that shouldnt be possible without actually loging in... The topic view looks like this
-
Who said its for those specific engines? Your opinion matters, just not with this because its decided. The domain has already been purchased. Bob is correct. Once I fix up a few theme errors I want to start getting staff and other members (perhaps depending on their post count) using GDU while RMXPU is still live. Everything is already operating, I'm just not letting anyone in because I need to develop the content areas and other features, such as project cards v3 (though that is low priority). If I released it now, it would just look like a theme change when its so much more. I'm glad you like it Take a look at the topic view entry in the blog (the link can be found on the gdu homepage) to see what viewing a topic looks like. It's been slightly updated since then.
