  1. I guess I have no choice but to nominate Kiriashi for activeness but more so for helpfulness. We expect the activeness.
  2. She does look scary. How about a hair pin type thing in the hair? Those things can be lethal :P
  3. Can you be more specific? Because obviously you're after something different from what RMXP already has, right?
  4. Well you get points for posting on this forum. Well my idea in this topic was to write a shop system. However others just wanted a casual forum for it. What is the preference now?
  5. Lol we all have hobbies Chief... I say press charges if you're certain he did it. Back in the days when I used to collect DBZ cards, my best friend stole them from my bag after I showed him that I had them. I got pretty upset coz they were my older brothers cards (i think i was 10 at the time) and then a while after my friend showed up at the door with his dad (who must have somehow found out) and confessed and gave them back.
  6. And also you don't chose your layers do you? The just go on top of each depending on which set they're in. Was the simplification necessary ?

  7. *inserts demotivational poster* Which graphics are better, even if you couldnt change them, still isnt what the topic was supposed to be out. Its more about you can use them. You can get RMXP's tilesets in RMVX (if that's what you're into) but couldn't still make the same maps because the layer system is downgraded(i think? I havent opened VX is a very long time and dont have it on this computer). So perhaps you could replicate RPG Maker VX's maps in RMXP but you could not in replicate RPG Maker XP's graphics in RMVX. Because you in RMXP you can place any tile on any layer.
  8. I think they mean anime as a style. In the context of charactersets I can distinguish between something that looks cartoony and something that looks anime styled. So I don't think that should be interpreted so strictly... or the OP can clarify/

    Fail 2

The merge ones are quite clever.
  11. I would say that a good game requires skill, not that it is necessarily hard to make. Can you really produce the same results in terms of mapping? I thought you could create more complex maps in RMXP.
  12. Yes I lack the knowledge of RMVX so I needed someone like you to create the discussion :P I feel like this backs up my point. Should making games be point and click? Or should some 'design' go into it? Mapping is definitely an art. Good maps in XP is difficult, but you can make some pretty amazing maps. Mapping may be a big attraction in VX because it reduces the necessary time and skill that XP takes. Therefore, thats lazy isnt it? Its a tradeoff between time/skill and quality of maps. Unless you're saying you can make equally good maps in less time?

  14. Ok I know this topic is a few years too late. But I read something the other day that kind of annoyed me, because it got me to thinking: Did enterbrain take a step backward by making RMVX easier to use than RMXP, thus reducing game making talent and detering new RPG Maker users from RMXP? The big issue that I have personally with enterbrain deciding to make RMVX more user-friendly (which is a euphemism for lazier game makers), because RPG Maker XP is very easy to use. It may be harder than RMVX, but just because something is harder than something really easy doesnt make it difficult. Anyone who finds RMXP too hard to use isn't putting in the time to learn it. If you chose RMVX over RMXP solely because its easier, then you're a lazy game maker. The reason i think RMVX deters new RPG Maker users from RMXP is because, who would download the 2nd latest version? And secondly but less so, its 'easier' reputation will attract more users to it, sadly so. I was thinking that perhaps it caused a negative effect in terms of RPG Maker users. There have been some talented people over the years making games with these engines. I think that RMVX has reduced the pool of talented RPG Makers by detering/killing RMXP and creating lazier RPG Makers with RMVX. That's just a theory, what do you guys think? Or perhaps RMVX has extra 'newbie' features but can also go as advanced as RMXP, so enterbrain was trying to accompany 'everyone'. I think one weakness with this is the limitation on tilesets. Discuss.

  21. I love Doom 2, one of my favorite games back in the day. I'd still play it now. Ok there were a few things in our gallery from way back. I'll link you to the 5th page where there are some characters: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/gallery/category/12-characters-graphicscharacters/page__sort_key__idate__order_key__DESC__prune_key__*__st__80 I'll keep an eye for more. EDIT: another:
  22. Last night I was searching through my old harddrive backups when I managed to find a particular backup of the forum from 2008. An upgrade forced us to remove our arcade until the developers released a version compatible with the forum software. Fortunately this backup included all the data necessary to reinstall the games, and fortunately they do seem to work on the new arcade and members can submit their scores. There are 31 new games which include: Indestructo Tank Asteroids Space Invaders Pacman Tetris Snake Simon Hexxagon Breakout Moon Lander Connect It Earthling Eliminator Baby Chute Home Run Boy Marvin`s Space Bowling Mindscape Arrow wizzard Kill Bug - V32 Eyetoygame The Last Stand Zombiegrinder 60000 Premiere FoosBall The Pack Air Hockey Speed Cards Hive Hero Mahjong Quest Graviton Stunt Dirt Bike Desert Storm Tomb Digger Evil Care Bears Spaceman Bob`s Great Escape I may also upload the old highscores later. I think wyrd used to have quite a few. Hope you guys enjoy the new games :)
  23. Ah I remember the good old days when we used to be on 110mb.com. In fact its thanks to them (and EmilyAnnCoons) that this site came about really. Anyway, I hear that some people have trouble distinguishing between a row and a column. If you make websites, this will eventually come naturally, like which hand is your left and right. If you just remember that a row contains columns, and therefore a row stretches out horizontally. Then columns divide your row up. Columns are stacked side-by side, and rows are stacked up on top of each other. You can remember which is the row with tables because of the r in . You know what may be a good next lesson? The same HTML structure as you have here, but with CSS.
