  1. It doesn't need to work when the game is off. It only needs to store the system time when the game is last saved, and use it again when the game is loaded. I'm quite sure this can be done in RGSS / Ruby. Nothing is happening when the game is off, this is just being emulated.
  2. Of course that's how you would do it, using the system time. You would calculate the time between close and open, and then run your system to determine what "happened" when you were offline, based on how much time had passed.
  3. I know its not a game, I meant I can see how this may be remotely used for game development.
  4. I suppose I can see how that could be used in a game... but more towards post-production. I should post up some links to some good tutorials.
  5. RIP all the MH victims... so tragic, the west so quickly to hypocritically point the finger at the potential supplier of the weapon.

  6. The ones whose first post on return is that they're returning, always immediately leave.
  7. That's a good idea, in fact I had planned add a substantial amount more information in the listings. The listing truly a quick write up when I did it back in December/January. I have decent ideas for it, but I'm not sure if it wise to continue dev on it. Even if it and this site as a whole got more popular, I don't think I care about that anymore. I have a pretty busy 4 months coming up with sitting my bar to become qualified and finishing off other qualifications, etc.
  8. Sorry punky, there's currently no support for cross-engine scripts :( I think its best if you just submitted it in the later version (probably Ace, right?) coz that's more popular.
  9. It's not really a browser problem. Chrome is rendering a particular CSS style correctly while firefox isn't, although the software has always relied on itself making thumbnails and having all topic-view avatars around the same size, ie 100px. For some reason, this member's avatar image is loading the bigger size, and not the thumbnail. The fix here is fix that so the site loads faster, etc. Or I could do it with CSS. But I think the best solution here is.... to ban Phrono.
  10. Please make a new topic for this. You generally shouldn't start a new line of discussion in a topic which hasn't been posted in for almost 2 years. Topic closed.

  12. Danke. Hopefully it will be a place people will go looking to play games. Need ratings and reviews. Also thinking about hiding non-demo games by default... just as a quality control and motivator :)
  13. Good spotting, thanks! Fixed. As for the downloads issue, I will get on that ASAP. It's a bit more complicated. I think I gotta recode it coz its just been causing error after error.
  14. Hi all, I have just finished implementing a comprehensive filter system for the games section. It can be found in the sidebar on the public games listing page: There is also now pagination which separates the games into pages of 15. Games can be filtered by engine, download type (demo or full game or none at all), teams or single developers, age rating and genre. These variables can be combined, for example to find all VX Ace games with full game downloads, or all RMXP 18+ JRPG's... These filters can then be sorted by either views, creation date, last update or downloads. It was a pretty big job and is more comprehensive than we need right now, but hopefully will become more and more useful as our listings grow :)
  15. Yep, I'd be great if you guys could report any bugs / suggestions. These are minor things, but the priority is going to be on design flexibility and a blog system. Currently working on this
  16. Hi all, Logos Finally, there is now functionality to upload logos for your games in the game section. The logo can appear in the both the public games listing and the cover, although the cover is optional: The logo is good to have in the cover both for SEO and the ability of your visitors to click it to return to the homepage (if you've got pages enabled). Cover image design options There is now a bunch of options for your cover image, including the ability to tile it or stretch it to fit. As well as that, you can now enable a full-width cover image, for example: http://www.gdunlimited.net/games/rmu-staff No more GDU default header There is no longer our global default header at the top of every page. It is now replaced with a strip and our logo. I want you guys to really feel ownership over your pages, they goal is to make them truly their own website for your game. Pro users of course will have the option to remove any GDU branding. Public listing design tweak Not particularly noteworthy, but the design is brought more into line with the latest GDU design, and logos will now show up in the image instead of your avatars. So I really recommend updating your game pages with a logo. In the future I hope to bring in sweeping functionality updates to the listing. This will mainly be a filter and pagination. The filter will allow you to sort games by [create date, update date, views, downloads, etc] + [engine] + [genre] + [age restriction]. So you will be able to combine each of these groups in filtering games. We have 48 published games, but only 13 with anything downloadable.
  17. Hi all, Changes to the download management system in the games section have just been made live. Previously there were three different types of downloads: full game, demo and patch. The reason for allowing both full game and patch was allowance for members who would sell the game, and of course this functionality was to be built-in later. Instead, now there are just 2: Game download and patch. Until the system changes (if we ever bring in the ability to sell/purchase the games), there is just one upload for the main game, with the option of choosing the label, either demo or full game: I have carefully modified the database and undertaken precautions to migrate to this new system. Please check your demo/full games are visible and working correctly. If required, feel free to report here or otherwise contact me.
  18. I've almost forgotten how to code O.o Trying to update the GS. A small update already got itself through when I accidentially uploaded it.

  19. Last month (June) the site had the most pageviews since July 2012. The record is 210,000 set in July 2010.

  20. Shoot, I messed up creating the forum. It was acting like a category. Topics can now be made in it. As for the other forums, I will do that when people start posting in it. Even new members somehow struggle with the concept of sub-forums in the engine forums. There's now a category for Unity in tutorials. I thought I did that already. As for uploads, you have a point. It will certainly become unsustainable. I am looking into creating an upload system that stores files on a 3rd party host. Perhaps something like google drive, but the upload is integrated into the website so function wise its as if it was uploading locally just like anything else.
  21. Ok, the modals should be working now. I went around the whole site and upgraded all of them :) Let me know if you have any troubles here in this topic. Your tutorial will need approved be a staff member, but I may change that system so they don't need approval. I wrote the tutorials system at the end of 2012 so it is getting on a bit. The site has undergone many transformations since then in terms of CSS, design, etc. Things sorta get messy as time goes on.
