  1. Chief, your first post is hits the nail on the head and its hard to argue with any of it, not that I want to. That is how it is. I would definitely enjoy working on a joint project at some point! :) He just said he's 50/50 on keeping the site alive, perhaps slightly "for", given the difficulty in finding another website. I did start without any website knowledge, and how I did it was start with a CMS, which is basically point, click and type. It was very simple to make stuff. You just use third party plugins, etc. It's possible to set that up. I can also continue to cover the costs of the website, I did not mention passing on the burden. But this discussion isn't really about replacing me, its about whether its viable to continue. No one here could possibly continue developing from my code (it's probably not good enough :P ). It just isn't worth it. Having my time over, I would have built extensions within a CMS rather than write the website 100% myself. It took too long, and time is out, and it failed.
  2. I don't mind a military coup here. People with passion is better than nothing at all. There has always been community, whether we make games or not. Whether or not it includes RPG Maker wouldn't be up to me. But then you've got a website that is about stuff you know, versus a website that would be about stuff you don't know. It's hard to envision any viable plan for the site. We were RMXP, we did that very well. I guess we were right place right time, but now what? So, its difficult. There needs to be a man (or woman ;) ) with a plan. Without that, we're this graveyard: http://www.creationasylum.net/
  3. You missed the deadline so no one wins
  4. Shrek is love, shrek is life.

  5. I tried that at one stage, remember? That honestly won't work. I got on a bit of rant there as I do on occasion, and I left out the reasons that aren't my fault for the site's demise, mainly that RMXP has been dying for years and there's an official website now which makes us pretty not useful. We're in a dying market and now that I don't have time left we definitely can't expect to get into others. But I'm not closed to the idea of someone taking over. There's still like 9 months to go on the domain by the way, so this is an anticipatory topic unless we decide to go out with a bang.
  6. It's been 8 long years... see: I grew up with GDU, or should I say RMXPU? I can't really imagine visiting the domain and seeing a blank screen.. it's been my daily routine for 8 years. I guess it will fade into my memories eventually. It's apparently that time is running away from us and the day when it finally goes out seems to be in sight. I really put a lot into the site, but I really screwed it up with visions I couldn't achieve. I had developed our joomla CMS website since 2008 and in 2012 I killed all those sections that had accumulated huge traffic rank, but they had to go as part of the transition to this GDU concept, which involved superior member and design integration. So, we changed to GDU with just a forum and topics. A few months later, the host we were own decided to shut us down coz the database was too large. At that time I wasn't in control and it 14 days to get a hold of the copy and migrate to a new host. That was out of my control, but I really screwed things up. Not just that, my constant indecision and altering existing functionality rather than building new things. Anyway, focusing my time here will achieve nothing for me. Making games was fun but I'm 23 now and I gotta get on with things. Unfortunately human life is limited by time, so I have to force myself to make the decision to stop. So what do you guys think?
  7. I'm wondering why this topic doesn't redirect to the scripts archive page... eh, that's a failure too. Nice work though, Salty.
  8. RIP Stephen Sutton! http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/europe/10047029/Cancer-teen-dies-after-raising-millions I only heard about it months ago and his story is very inspirational.

  9. Has anyone noticed the newsletter signup in the footer? D:

  10. That is a really old issue that I fixed up, try refreshing the page. The design is bad, I want to change it ASAP but maybe I don't have time.
  11. I guess the topic isn't so controversial. I wanted to argue with someone :( Are you guys scared of getting scolded by me?
  12. Thanks, I appreciate that. At the moment I am fine, although the disease is potentially fatal and at best since I'm 23 it will shorten my life, and be debilitating in the end. But if someone could find a cure, that'd be great :) It's severity also varies and its very unpredictable so there's room for optimism. But my optimism relies pretty much on the hope that technology will advance. My brother also has it. It's made life a bunch more difficult, although he'll be a PhD in biochemistry in a few years, while I'll finish my law degree in a few months. We've got plans. Interestingly, did you know that governments such as mine have agreements with pharmaceuticals not to find cures for diseases such as mine? It doesn't make a great deal of sense for a company to cure a disease, they just want to make drugs to make the symptoms better so they can sell that drug for the sick persons lifetime. If a cure were invented there would be no profit there, which is why governments, who should be concerned with its people and not its profits, should research cures. But they dont. So maybe I am screwed. Things have to change. That's a practical law. It'd be way too heavily on the conscious to deny people. Question though, do you have to foot the bill afterward?
  13. Ok you've got your wires seriously seriously crossed by saying free health care is a communist policy. That doesn't make sense. Here in New Zealand we have free care and our electoral system (MMP) is more democractic than that of the US several times over. But anyway, that's not particularly relevant to the discussion. I agree with you that health care should be. You put globally in the title, but I believe it should be up to the particular to state to provide it for its citizens just like they do in a great many countries. These countries essentially realize that it should be a human right to have free healthcare. The US really leads the way for developed countries that refuse to sign international treaties (even though I'm not all for international law) that acknowledge certain human rights. So that's my position. I'm probably bias because I found out last year that I am technically chronically ill, although I am optimistic about fighting my disease. I see a specialist every 6 weeks which is free. Without it and my current position in life (im still a student) I would be doing a lot worse, and would certainly die a lot quicker than I probably will. But that's never changed my opinion (I"m fine btw). To deny those who got the shit end of the stick (sick through no fault of their, poor through no fault of their own...) is disgusting. There's nothing that can out balance that. Oh taxes are too high... how about stop starting so many fucking wars. As a society we should all contribute to looking after our sick. That's fundamental for a society.
  14. To busy to remember the 8 year anniversary 2 days ago of when I started this site :D RMXP is ancient!

  15. The evening after getting through the last of a barrage of assessments.... I'm so bored! And it's Friday (yes I come from the future).

  16. Naw don't make a gif. Not everyone can save as a gif. PNG is the way to go. They're a bit squashed in but no worries, I can't see why people would use common sense and give the image more height
  17. Do college / uni students really use wikipedia as a source? That shit is for preschool. Bitches need to some research skills.

A smart person doesn't use Wikipedia directly, but goes to the sources that Wikipedia has in its bibliographies.

Wikipedia isn't really for tertiary education. A smart person goes an institution with subscriptions to actual research databases.

I guess I'm ranting, by the end of the semester I would have accumulated something like 24,000 words worth of assessments which make up only about 35% of my total course load.

  18. So many news articles about racism coming out from the US (and annoyingly where I shouldnt be seeing them). So prehistoric, or is it a racist nation? We should tots have a racism debate.

Also the US is more religious than we like to think we are. and racism never went away, it's just not as big as it used to be.

  19. Some m*th*erfuckers broke into my car last night and stole my stuff :( Good then I didn't have anything too valueable in it. I was sleeping like 10meters away :@ Retribution I want.

I've never watched any Breaking Bad and only barely get that reference, but not enough to actually understand why it's relevant.

  20. I'll confirm they don't work so you don't need to test them. I knew they've been broken for a while. I'm glad someone reported it though :) Usually everyone's just like meh. I shall fix this in due course. I got a 50% research paper due in 3 days so that's keepin me busy.
  21. I haven't any changes since making this topic on april 20 but I intend to make those changes so all assets can be obtained locally. Right now I'm so swamped with work, I won't have much spare time for a few months. But after that at least I'll have my first degree :> Getting a job will probably be harder >.>
  22. Bugs give a website character.

  23. That is pretty cool :> You're not ginger though right?? Or is memory failing me :dizzy:
  24. I'm not getting the error. Try it in the bug reporting topic and delete stuff after testing. Before posting, check the non-wysiwig view of the editor to see how the bbcode is structured. I'm using firefox and its working.
