lol. there's a peacock walking around in my street. it run from my neighbor's cage, and no one can catch it (they really fly!)

  2. Still MOTM just divided into two categories. Moonpearl owned it by winning both. +1
  3. Lol. Classic quote here from Pol. You should make it use the WASD movement (does anyone get the joke?) Ok this is complicated. The day before you made your post I updated the custom profile fields in the forum's user settings. I changed it from RPG Maker specfic to general game dev, and changed the engine list from the RPG Makers to include a whole bunch of others. We've been trying to expand into other engines but it's quite difficult right now because I don't know anything but RPG Maker etc. etc. so basically I changed my profile settings to what you see as a way of advertising the new settings, so people will go in and update their info :) So unfortunately, I've never used Unity :( But I shall be learning all about it when I integrate it into the website.
  4. Dont worry about him, he's like that. I would just like to point out that I lol'd at a certain part of your last sentence. Welcome to GDU btw!! :D Also tons of ppl who make intro topics stick around. This is a subtly awesome place to hang out :>
  5. Sorry guys :dizzy: It is the next day and I am embarrassed that I posted that lol. I haven't updated my music collection for several years and I don't listen to it regularly but sometimes I'm bored and I just play what's there and if I'm down to begin with... x.x Anywhosies, our 3rd most viewed page on the entire website is this: http://www.gdunlimited.net/engines/rpg-maker-vx-ace ThereforeI think we should immediately create these pages and as well as some new forums. I can tell even among you guys Unity is really popular. We could create a new forum category just like these guys for Unity Perhaps we could start out with introducing just Unity and see how the process integrating it goes. :)
  6. Ya ya I rmb you :) Eh, are you new zealander or an englishman? Where in NZ did you go? I live in Christchurch. Did you visit Christchurch's rubble? :P If you were here for a year and a half, you ought to have felt at least 1 M6+ earthquake. There was one a few weeks ago too. I'm returning to NZ in a few days It would be really great to get some starting out content for some new engines, and more advanced ones at that! The issue I currently have is how to structure the forums. Right now we've got two huge categories for RMXP and Ace. We could add a bunch of others in a single category, and it would look like we heavily favour RPG Maker. But hey at least we can begin to diversify. A year ago I spent a long time creating a tutorials system. I strongly recommend you take a look at creating one (it will be invisible until you publish). Once you publish a tut, it gets put on the recent posts module on the forum index and has comments. So it essentially like a topic but structured better and has better SEO, etc. To support other engines, I also plan to add to these:
  7. No, like I say I am just the architect. The site should not be dependent on me. Pol is the admin here, my usergroup is owner :P Observe: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=244166401+seconds This is how long I have been doing this. 7.7 years. 2,826 days. I have made foolish sacrifices and right now I have regrets about sacrificing the time I already have. I really fucked some things up in my life in the last 3 years. Whether it's because I was sitting at a computer for far too long is unknown, or maybe I'm using it as an excuse, but the point is... I am leaving soon for good, at least in the role that I have been doing. If the site dies, which won't be a surprise to anyone, that would really be rubbing salt into the wound for me. But it is what it is. There's a reason people don't stay here, right? There are two things that are quite concerning. First, I often the feel the urge to irreversibly delete the site which I sometimes see as a symbol for my failures, and second, no staff members have replied to this topic. You know, I kept going knowing this would end in almost certain failure. It's all my fault. Yeah... I should stop listenting to this depressing music, reflecting on stuff and posting........ :dizzy:

It's like socializing with people you don't know for the whole day, and you go around heaps of different houses. I'm not chinese either. I am quite Caucasian

  9. Hi! I remember you and I remember your website. If im not mistaken its still live? You're not alone in sticking around. I think its the memories of the communities of rpg makers glory days that still draws us back. Im glad you like the site :) it has taken me a long long time to build. Everyrhing but the forums is fully custom and written by me. But im seriously considering retirement :P Thanks for dropping by!
  10. Oh no moonpearl is gona win twice!!
  11. I think the site really died when a lot of our contributing members left. We had really good resident scripters and people who generally contributed to discussions, support topics, etc. The fall of RPG Maker XP has really hurt us, but our traffic flow has remained satisfactory by supporting RPG Maker VX Ace. We have talked about including other engines for about forever. The trouble is that I am the only architect here, and I do not know any other engines. How can we add support? I need to figure out how to structure the site properly for adding in further engines, if I am even capable of doing that... (which I'm not sure). The site is user-powered. I have been building this site for years and years and I can't do any more. Well I can, but I gotta get on with other things.
  12. Congratulations to Bob423 and Omar510. With a combined GDU experience of 7 years, and both with 3 digits at the end of their usernames, these are our new global moderators. Due to inactivity, Dolarmak and Chigoo have left the GDU staff team. I'd like to thank them, in particular dolarmak for all his contributions, for being apart of the GDU staff team. PS Happy Chinese New Year, year of the horse (that's me  ).
  13. This guy hasn't even been here in 9 days... I think he's already gone.
  14. Ehh my days are mad cheerful and exciting :> I should say something inappropriate since this topic is locked... Bob, that link you sent me the other day, with the nude girls... Yeah.
  15. Those tiles are pretty good. SVG is good, its the filetype of the future -nods- You could even make them scalable but I imagine that's quite difficult. I found something like this once, but it was for developers so there was no editor. Check this out: http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/topic/8269-gdu-online-rpg/ Try the domain there of that link, duno if it's still there (i wish I had a backup... maybe try the web archive). It's looking really good so far. I'm sure the UI will come out great knowing you, I just hope the performance is equally as good. Looking at that ouput. Obvious it's massive and you need all those vars for every single tile. You can cut that down but more than 1/2 if you use a simpler json output. "x": 512, "y": 384, "img": { "x": 32, "y": 800, "w": 32, "h": 32 } Becomes So then you're just all I duno if that's even practical, just an idea to cut down the size of the output. From the link above, the way he did it is similar to you so hopefully its still around.
  16. Ehh you're learning node? Are you running it on your own server? (obviously you are). I heard digital ocean is a really good hosting service for node. I wish the regular old hosting services had support for node :( If I had been born 1 or 2 years later and chosen a different path in life, I would definitely be codin' some node.js stuff :)
  17. This is Google trends. It compares google searches between the various RPG Makers over the displayed time period. Observations Google trends can not well distinguish between VX and VXA, or the are perfectly correclated for some other reason... RPG Maker XP's popularity has been declining at a consistent rate since 2011 The popularity spikes appear roughly for all 3 (marketing campaigns?) RPG Maker's popularity is in it's best shape since 2010 For lols, I've added a poll to survey the popularity of the RPG Makers here on GDU.
  18. Ok ok, the color the change is nice. I didn't think it was that impressive. In fact that logo has been floating around ever since I announced gamedevu.net and you all woulda seen it there.... I really can't take credit for the visuals. But at least you guys are happy with the change :) Anyways, Here's my thoughts: See that huge empty space between the logo and the avatar part? Ya I was thinking that in exchange for points you guys can have your Game's logo there, linking to your game page. So you buy a certain number of views for a certain number of points. I'm just wondering whether people would really be interested in such a system. Either way, I think I will place some sort of internal advertising there, such as the latest collective, and other popular content.
  19. After 10 months we are saying goodbye to rmu. Rmu was invented to weather the storm created by changing rmxp unlimited to the new software. I'm not saying that that storm has past but I feel like it is the right time to change back to what is 100% our final name/brand. It also fits in well with the addition of the games section. Rmu was a subtle inference that we were going back on our goals to expand from rpg makers. That wasn't the case and still isn't. However the site needs new people for such an expansion. So hopefully people can see what we're building here and jump on board and be a part of it. :)
  20. That is consistent with ur settings If I were you I'd remove that homepage heading altogether and create your own using BBCode. So I think this is all working correctly.
  21. What button/heading are we talking about?
  22. Alright, the error is fixed. I was aware of it and thought I had fixed it. I suppose my testing wasn't thorough enough. A little kink in the update function formed after creating the page customizations. Can you confirm it is working now?
