Ok good I'm getting the error too, working on this right now.

Both are working correctly for me. Can you please confirm they are not working + any relevant details (especially the browser you're using). Do they appear to update but remain the same upon refresh, or do you get an error? Our site* And ya, we've been quite unique for some time. If I had my time again I would probably have made feedback sections first rather than content sections. I guess I was too focused on getting people here. I spent so much time on content sections that by the time I finished, our content was starting to lose demand (eg RMXP stuff) and people left. I know a lot of people want feedback on their games and the games section doesn't quite accommodate that properly... I'll see what I can do about that. I want to add more engines to the list http://www.gdunlimited.net/engines but the issue with that is that I don't know any, so if that were to happen properly then I would need other people contributing to that. I hope so :) Our visitor retention has been poor this last year. For most of the site's life, returning visitors made up about 50% of all visitors. Now that's dropped down to about 43. My hope is that by providing the service that the games section does, more people will come here and also use the rest of the site's features. My goal with the games section is to make it a must-have for all peps with games in communities like ours, and have links to them in signatures across the sites. Oh shoot.. that's what I should have done... Expect to see a signature generator soon in the admin sections :) However, I am old now. After 8 years, I am looking to move onto other projects unless this one is successful.

So there I was, driving along today thinking about the Games Section... (a wee bit weird..) and I hatched this idea on how to make the games a wee bit more customizable. A lot of the game pages look quite similar. There are a lot of design customizations to come, but this update focuses more on content customizations. Under the "Pages" dropdown menu there will be "Page Settings". Here's an example of what the RMU Staff page settings are like: This quite succinct page has the following customization features: Display everything on a single page (default) or split each page into actual pages (eg Lumis) Show the icons in the headings (and menu if you've got pages) Reorder the pages to any order you want (so on a single page the positions will change, on the pages version the order of the main menu items will be in your selected order) Disable any of the pages Choose the heading for any page (delete the name entirely to remove the heading... useful for the homepage if you just want to create your own heading using BBCode). This was actually quite challenging to make :) Especially changing live games from the old system to a new one. But I think it was worth making because it gives that extra bit of power over the page. Keep in mind... you could construct your entire page using only the homepage section, it's exactly the same as typing out a mere topic :) Future updates are going to include (finally) design customizations so you guys can add your own flare to the pages... so we're talking backgrounds, colours schemes, logos, etc. As well as a blogging system and an internal file manager. I want to get the most wanted features done first so I don't waste my time at the expense of what people actually want, so make sure you give me feedback!

I nominate moonpeal for helpfulness and contribution :)

Ah the screenies... they're quite troublesome. The screenies section is quite poor, I had to rush and create that part. I will take a look when I get time, but I may also prioritize other things...

Hi all, The main reason for this announcement is that everyone with a game should now go ahead and change the Engine setting in their game page, which is in the main settings area In the not so distant future, there will be categories for the public games listing based on their engine. There is now also a featured games system, although in the future I want to have them displayed up in a slider of some sort at the very top. Perhaps I will do in the engine categories for games. Right now, if your game gets featured, this is what happens: If you want to get featured, make a really awesome game page :) I suppose the biggest update is the addition of comments, but I am saving this for a separate announcement once I make some additions to the system (I mentioned before having different types of comments: general, feedback, reviews).

Game Recruitment Section (find team members!)
Marked replied to Marked's topic in Announcements & News
Haha. Yeah. Although you raise a good point, I am still deciding how best to display games that members are part of. It's quite tricky. It makes sense to put them in the manager but not many members visit there or even know how to navigate there. I have thought a lot about recreating the user menu in the header (the icons-only menu). Perhaps I should instead change it to 2 dropdown menus: settings and games. -
Game Recruitment Section (find team members!)

Thanks ^.^ (finally someone replied to one of my updates topics :P) -
So cool D: I hope you keep developing it! Being able to run in the browser is great. I can foresee a future where more is done through a browser than software downloaded to the computer. We just need to get everyone on ultra fast broadband. Keep us updated :)

I meant that it ruined our name because we were forced to include other engines. Most of us may be partial to RMXP, but we're definitely not merely an RMXP website.

You may have noticed a new tab in the main menu (and a few missing: including my games, arcade and contribute): [ here it is! ] So let me go through how it works. It's quite simple. Step 1: MAKES THE GAMES Step 2: Go to your Admin control panel and look for the recruitment tab. Here you can create a recruitment ticket! Step 3: Boom, sit back and wait for the fishes to bite... Your new advert will show up here: http://www.gdunlimited.net/games/recruit Nice and simple, right? Hopefully we get a little labor market going here, but I know our visitors are super lazy and won't click that menu item, so I'll find a way to advertise your recruitments around the site. Oh and also, keep in mind that tickets expire after 2 weeks. After that time you gotta resubmit :) This will keep the section nice and clean with people actually active on the site :) Feedback/suggestions?

Interesting points. I agree with Moonpearl but still prefer RPG Unlimited over RPG Maker Unlimited. Stupid VX had to come and ruin "RMXP Unlimited". Oh well. Obviously having made this topic, I am considering making a subtle switch back to GDU :) Please, more votes! Only 3... my vote counts for at least 10 (in my mind :D).

Hi all, I have made a small update to the main page of the games section which shows our current selection of publically viewable games. Which is approximately about 25% of the current games in the system. You can view these updates on the Games mainpage here: http://www.gdunlimited.net/games This is quite a simple listing. It is missing several features but with only 9 games so far, these updates will come with the growth of the system. You will notice on this page that none of the games have descriptions. This is because I have just added a new field in the settings specifically for this listing. So if you're one of the admins of these games, please goto your dashboard and update the field with a plug of your game. There are more updates to come, but I thought I'd announce this one now so you guys update the field. In the future, I plan to have logos instead of avatars, but I have yet to code that as well.... :)

Tried to get him to board it? You gotta get tricky with your eventing. As Saltome said, the best way to get the camera moving is to change the graphic of the player, rather than have the camera follow another event. The latter is far less clean. If you're still having trouble getting that particular method to work, feel free to post a screenie of your event setup.

WHY DONT YOU USE THE GAMES SECTION          Ok, I have not coded in the features for you to acheive this. But I'm still pretty disappointed no one really mentioned it. I have been saying all along this would be a team management system as well. Tell me what you need and I'll code it. A basic filing sharing system? Pretty easy.

Interesting... the URL suggests there's something wrong with the Facebook App.... I'll check that asap once I get on my laptop. I can't charge it till I buy an international plug coz I went overseas : -
RMU was invented to tred water and stop the ship sinking. As it turned out, the name change made little difference. In my opinion, the name difference here really is irrelevant in terms of traffic. RMU is however referring to RPG Maker and allows us to have "RPG MAker" in every pagetitle, but in practice it doesn't make much difference to search traffic. I think this vote should be about our brand and our content. Obviously we're an RPG Maker website, but all our custom content sections (resources, tutorials, games) are not necessarily RPG Maker only. The domain name was also made to reflect the name Game Dev Unlimited. I made the decision to use GDU branding in the games section because I don't want it to be associated with only RPG Maker, and the system is something I want to be at the core of what GDU is, a community of game creating, sharing and helping. So what do you think, is the time right to switch to GDU, or do you think the site should remain known as RMU? For fun, here's all the names that I can recall this site has been known by: RPGXP Unlimited (2006) RMXP Revolution (2007, a few weeks) RMXP Unlimited (2007-2012) Game Dev Unlimited (2012-2013) RPG Maker Unlimited (2013-2014)

Well we can have 2 different rating systems avaliable but only 1 in operation at one moment. I have decided to remove rmu branding by default and add more design options. After that i will add comments, followers/subscribers and a blogging system.
